I can't say it any better than the one immediately preceding, so copy and paste and adding additional notes of our own... My wife and stayed in the Folkston Funnel room one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ted and Alease, the owners, are welcoming and loving people who will strive to make your visit enjoyable, and dining recommendations in Folkston were spot on. Hint: Be sure and tell 'em Ted sent you! Our room was spotless , spacious and comfortable. The attached bathroom was also spotless, spacious and fully stocked with all our needs. Ted accommodated my wife's gluten-free and non-dairy dietary needs beautifully and fed us the most amazing breakfast of organic, fresh, local items. The coffee is wonderful in the morning and fresh baked cookies amazing all day! Their Check in and check out was seamless, and we thoroughly enjoyed Ted's company, and his sense of humor, and especially appreciated him listening and even praying with us for our parents' health struggles! The Inn has plenty of room, games available in the Living Room, a nice porch and backyard and feels like home. As much as we enjoyed the Funnel Room, we were also impressed with the other rooms, which feature working fireplaces in some, a screened porch in one, and so spacious! We are blessed to have met Ted & Alease and we look forward to seeing them again and enjoying the Inn...
Read moreI stayed at The Inn at Folkston, because I was going to check out the Okefenokee and wanted to be close to the main entrance on the east side of the swamp. So if you're also planning to stay in Folkston (for whatever reason), I'll break this down as clear as day, The Inn at Folkston is THE place to stay. Trust me. There are two or three hotels in town, but judging from how they look on the outside, I wouldn't even consider them. The Inn at Folkston is a great old Craftsman house with several rooms for guests and the owners, Ted and Alease, live upstairs. Both Ted and Alease are fantastic hosts; really friendly, attentive, but give you plenty of privacy. Ted makes very nice breakfasts every morning and was also a train engineer, so being that Folkston is a big train town as well, you can get some great info from him on all things trains. Their house is clean and nicely furnished and it has a really wide front porch with places to sit and take a load off. Folkston is an extremely tiny town, so there aren't a lot of dining choices (I went to the Thai Smile restaurant both nights I was there and it felt like the best option), or many places to stay, and in my opinion you can't do better than The Inn at Folkston.
Note: I stayed there in...
Read moreWe just stayed there because the Okeefenokee Swamp Park was nearby. Folkston, Georgia wasn't exactly on our bucket list. But we loved this inn so much, we almost spent a second night. Until we realized our daughter was flying into Savannah the following morning and it wasn't practical.
Beautifully curated family-run in. Impeccably clean. Quaint veranda with plenty of tables and chairs. Great for sitting around and playing board games or cards. We'd brought our own, but they've got their own selection as well. Great for families. Especially large families. Came with a home-cooked breakfast. We didn't get to meet the owners--they were on their own vacation--but they and the staff were extremely pleasant and a pleasure to deal with. Again, we liked this place so much, we almost stayed in Folkston an extra night. Well, for them and Michelle and Dale Taylor down the road, who dress up like Santa and Mrs. Claus, offer warm apple cider to everybody who passes by, and invite them to sit in their sleigh and take pictures. And all the folks at Jalen's Bar-B-Q & Grille, who serve up the best pulled pork we've had. Nope, Folkston wasn't on our bucket list, but it's one of those places that just...
