I don't write many reviews, good or bad, but I'm a bit sorry to write this one and express how I just can't really recommend this property - at least the A-frame cabin that we stayed in. I'm an absolute sucker for reviews of properties when researching and planning trips, so hopefully this one can be helpful for future travelers.||My wife and toddler and I are still in the process of making a trip around the Olympic Peninsula. When looking for a place to stay to access the Hoh Rainforest, I of course looked at Forks. At the price point I was seeing, I just wasn't entirely convinced, and upon seeing this property with the glowing reviews, thought I may have found a diamond in the rough - granted I still paid $577.68 for two nights. Now I know that most all of the reviews must be referencing the luxury or deluxe cabins and not the A-frame cabins - at least on a quick glance I wasn't seeing any/many pictures for the A-frame cabins here on TripAdvisor.||When I started looking at the property, the description of the A-frame cabin looked nice so I bit. Lower price point than Forks, a toilet/shower in-room, hot water, single full bed. I came into this reservation knowing full well the main drawback of the single small bed in the unit and it being me that would need to sleep in the loft on the mattress up there, despite it having no blankets/sheets/pillows. Despite that, I booked anyways, and following are all the things that occurred during the stay:|- a meh check-in experience with 2 girls in the office that didn't seem to really care|- a local (maybe?) of the area dropping her pants and peeing on the grass in the front near the office like 30 minutes later after we checked in and headed for some food (there's only a single restaurant in the area, or alternatively gas station food)|- an extremely damp room, where all fabrics constantly felt wet to the touch (sheets, towels, pillowcases). I showered one morning and that night on the same day, the towel still felt soaking wet i.e. it couldn't even air dry|- a dark and dingy loft, complete with two small blow-up style mattresses that felt stuck to the wood. The wood in the loft appeared to be pretty dusty and upon a quick glance, I decided there was no way I was sleeping up there, even if it meant my wife, toddler, and I all crowding into the 1 full bed for 2 nights|- a gross showerhead, obviously rusted or with water markings on it, complete with a shower curtain on a shower rod that wasn't mounted (just sitting directly on the shower itself), with the shower curtain not fully keeping water in, so the wood between the shower and the floor tiles was SOAKED, even before we arrived. That wet and musty smell of wood was pervasive throughout the entire unit|- floor tiles cracked throughout the entire unit|- a mini-fridge that worked fine, but the ice/freezer portion of the unit was almost full of ice shards such that it wasn't usable. Not a big deal but since we're traveling with a toddler we have an ice pack so that we can keep a carton of milk cold for him in a cooler|- serious wear and tear basically everywhere, even on the toilet seat. There were two locations on the sides of the toilet seat, like 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, where your thighs would go, where the white enamel material of the seat was worn down to whatever is underneath, which isn't white||I want to be fair, so here were some bright spots:|- the two mornings we were there, our rental van died. The maintenance staff was so so nice and helpful when using a portable battery to jump our car both times|- the first morning we needed a jump, there was a gentleman in the office that was really nice and alerted maintenance for us|- the location relative to the beach just can't be beat. It wouldn't really be a big deal to me now to stay in Forks and drive the 20 minutes to that particular beach, but it was nice to be right there. It's one of the prettier beaches I've been on during this trip, which includes Ruby and Rialto beaches||All in all, I would not stay here again. The proximity to the beach on the property, or even First/Second/Third/Rialto beaches would be a non-factor for me compared to the conditions of the A-frame cabin. Might be different equation if we had stayed in a luxury/deluxe cabin, but then again, the price would have been much higher. Just can't recommend it.||P.S. it was on my list of things to do to take a handful of pictures to illustrate what I'm talking about here, but with the car dying two nights in a row, it just slipped my mind. I attached a picture of my parking pass here to at least somewhat legitimize my review. It bothers me sometimes having to wonder if the review I'm reading is...
Read moreSince Trip Advisor doesn’t let you add a response from the business, I have deleted the review and have added comments. This is the original review and follow up comment from the manager:||This park is very beautiful. I stayed at an RV site that had full hookups , its own personal garbage can, and the bathrooms were very clean. The restaurant near to the park was good, I recommend the Brussel sprouts, Its definitely a get away from the city. Very beautiful. |Just know, there is theft here. I had my laundry stolen in the laundry room. Someone stole it from the dryer. It wasn’t something that caused me angst, because it was something I bought from Amazon for $15. But the fact that someone went into the dryer to steal something from my personal items was unsettling. I went to the front desk, just to let them know that there are thieves here. The front desk clerk looked bothered, like she didn’t care. When a customer comes to the front desk to let them know of petty crime, the least they could do is acknowledge that this was wrong, and that they will forward this issue to their supervisors. I got a half assed reply they will let maintenance and security know. It felt like I was bothering her. Thats not a good look. Just know, there is thievery here, and don’t leave anything outside your campsite that has any value outside without supervision. I have been to many campgrounds and marinas in this state, and never had anything stolen. So I am sitting here in my campsite planning to lock my doors tonight in my RV, something I never had to do in any campground before because of crime. I think the issue is this campground is right next to the town of La Push, and I suspect outsiders are coming in to steal. I also have read about thefts in this campground from other online reviews. |Fix this issue, because if this becomes endemic, you will lose customers. Who wants to go camping and then worry that items from their campsite or laundry areas may get stolen. Camping is supposed to be relaxing.I am not sure that I am coming back, because right now I don’t know that this is a campground that I can leave things out, like a grill, cooler or chairs. I would love to come back, but…. Make everyone put a credit card deposit down for a key to the laundry room. If the key is not returned ,they forfeit their deposit. Have security drive around the campground with identifiers that they are security. A known security presence may help deter petty theft. It’s a small town, security would have an idea who the troublemakers are.|||Renee Rux|General Manager at Quileute Oceanside Resort|Good day Loki7476 -||Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I 100% agree that our staff should be concerned and take care of every guest complaint seriously. We did investigate and found out your bathmat was turned in to our office from another guest that said it was stuck in the dryer. Please do reach out to us so we can get your item returned to you. Please call at 360-374-5267 and leave your address. ||We have Security 24 hours a day, security cameras and a lost and found policy to do our very best to ensure every guest who has lost or found an item makes it back to its rightful owner.||Hope you do come back to experience this beautiful area again and the warmth and hospitality that the Quileute people are known for.||Yours in service and hospitality - ||||A couple of points here:|1.I left a message on your voice mail with my phone number. You never called me back.|2. There was no way someone innocently brought back my bathmat. My rv site was next to laundry room. As soon as I noticed ( within 3 minutes) that my item was not there, I walked back to the laundry room. I not only double checked, but triple checked all the washers and dryers in the laundry room. I even waited for someones wash to be done ( because the washer doors lock) and double checked that machine . Not only that, I walked by the laundry room at least 6 times that day to see if someone accidently returned the bathmat to the laundry room.|3. The bathmat is thickʻ with a rubber bottom. There is no way it could not have been missed in the dryer ( where it was taken) because it does not compress against the machine, like socks does. I also remember putting it in the dryer.|4. I was there after my mat disappeared 1 1/2 days camping. No one at the front desk let me know they had my matʻ even when I left them my rv site and phone numer. Why didn’t you call then, or call back when I left ...
Read moreWe have been RV camping there before and really like the awesome location and views. The Resort is very diversified with camping, as well as lodging facilities! It is to be noted that in 2023 huge King Tides deposited gigantic driftwood logs so high up the Beaches that they block a few of the trails leading to it. The problem we faced was that the numbered trail sign posts are only at the entrance of the paths. But because they are really short, they’ve not visible from the beach side. Not realizing that at first we didn’t pick a landmark to get off the beach. So we took quite a few wrong turns to figure out where we had come in.
Again we stayed at the north end RV park among quite spacious sites 3 to 24. The pull-thru’s are long enough to accommodate our 34 foot 5th Wheel and almost 22 foot truck.
But RV site #12 is in a "commute" path of maintenance/security riding very noisy ATVs, which rode so fast (definitely faster than the posted 5mph limit), kicking up dust that we had to retreat inside our rig, instead of enjoying our BBQ food, the views, and sounds of waves outside. ATVs also patrol the beach regularly - passed us 3 times in about an hour. Also noisy and going fast, spewing emissions - which we came here to avoid from city life. Wish they had all electric vehicles like golf carts which many large Resorts and RV parks now have.
There is only one toilet per gender at that end of the RV park. It used to at least be clean, but during our 4-night stay in July 2023 it once had NO toilet paper, and then it was either clogged or dirty (including floors). We don't feel that's acceptable for any Resort. Not every RV has its own full size toilet, and even if they do – many people still rely on clean Park provided facilities.
It doesn't show on the Resort map, but I called and was told there are 3 more toilets about 2000 feet away at the other RV park sites 25-66 - plus countless tent sites, shared with what could be 50+ campers. No thanks. The Resort should add at least one more (preferably a better power flush) toilet and urinal at the north end location and have it cleaned thoroughly at least 3-4 times a day. We were not the only campers (American and foreigner travelers) who felt that way.
Our review reflects average needs for cleanliness – judging by the community bathrooms, this park does not meet them. As far as the motel and very nice cabins are concerned, we talked to several guests, and the general consensus was "it's ok but could be better". We were thinking about a storm watching adventure in winter and renting one of their luxury cabins (only ones NOT pet friendly), but now have second thoughts. Just seems that over the years, general maintenance - including quite bumpy roads - has been lagging a bit, while rates have increased. We understand the reasons and are ok with it – but do expect the same high standard of accommodations we saw at previous rates.
The Resort advertises Wi-Fi – but it only works around the office building. There is one small bench in a drafty, cold spot to sit down. The restaurant at the Marina was closed for renovation in July 2023. But there is a little store with limited food options on the premises.
The Resort always appears to be booked long times in advance, despite some short comings, so maybe Management doesn't feel that investing into improvements is all that crucial. It's a shame, because it's truly the finest beach location on the...
