We were heading south down the Pacific Coast Highway and decided to stop in Fort Bragg for the night. We considered a few different places and decided this was the place to try. I am so glad we did! This was the best place we stayed during our mini vacation in Northern California. I was right outside Fort Bragg to the north in a very quiet area. The front desk cleark was very friendly upon check-in. There is no restaurant here, but he had a printed list of places and offered his recommendations. Once entering our room, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the unit was! It was very clean and the furniture was all in great shape. The walls had a nice wallpaper and crown molding at the ceiling. The mirrors and fixtures were very nice. All this made the room feel high-end! The bathroom was very clean and in good shape.
When we got back from dinner, we went to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the ocean! Right out back from our balcony was a short waking path to the edge of the ocean cliffs. We decided to be adventurous and take the more rugged path all the way down to the small beach. It was so quiet and peaceful. We had it all to ourselves to enjoy the spectacular views and sunset.
Whenever I am by the ocean, I like to sleep with the door open to hear the sound of the waves all night. You could definitely do that here! Because the hotel is in such a quiet area, there was no noise from town or attractions. Our neighbors were quiet, and it was like we were there alone with the ocean waves to sleep. The only downside to this is that it did feel risky leaving just the screen down closed. There is a walking path right outside and open stairs leading to each deck. It was great for ease of access but less secure feeling at night. A gate at the top of the stairs would feel a little more secure.
The bed was very clean and comfortable, and we got a great night sleep. We got up and ready to leave for our next adventure. The hotel had some cute logo coffee mugs - which was a great touch! I stopped by the front desk to inquire about buying some as a souvenir. He said I could take the 2 from the room for $6 dollars each. I did, and I love them!
If you find yourself in the area, I definitely recommend this quiet gem of a hotel. We really enjoyed...
Read moreProperty itself is in a pretty location. However the experience me and my wife had for our first year wedding anniversary was horrible. We called to upgrade our room to one with a jet tub weeks before our arrival and we were told of course its no problem. When we arrived we found that our room was not upgraded, went back to the front office and the woman said "Oh I'm sorry, someone added a note to upgrade the room but we didn't see it." They did not upgrade our room and we were very disappointed because when we called they said of course we can. Then the woman said I'm sorry about the issue, we can take $40 off your bill when you check out, she continues to talk and at the end of the conversation she abruptly changes the comp amount she said to $20... what happen to the $40 YOU SAID 5 MINUTES AGO? Whatever the case we go back to the room and later on that night realize there are blood stains on the bed covers, very disappointing. The walls are paper thin and makes it extremely hard to relax or fall asleep when you can hear everybody around you. The day we went to check out, there was a man at the front desk and we informed him of the situation we encountered when we checked in with the previous woman about the upgrade issue that they promised us from the phone and did not fulfill. We informed him that the woman that checked us in told us that they would be able to take off $40 from the bill due to the inconvenience. He then promptly refused this, we were lied to multiple times by multiple staff. They have ZERO integrity! WORST...
Read moreWe stayed at the Ower’s suite for 3 nights. I booked the place for the view, space and the oversized tub and those did deliver. The whole place is tastefully decorated. What the unexpected surprises were as below.
First, the owner’s suite is right behind the office, so sometimes you can hear people talking if there are people checking in and they did lock the connecting door from the office side. My husband was very uncomfortable since there is no lock from our end. There is also laundry room next to the suite, and you can hear the noise in the morning.
Second, the housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. The two grey crouch chairs smells and there were a lot of ants the 2nd morning of our stay in the kitchen area. The front desk gave us the orange spray and my husband spent a good 30 minutes himself to clean as the the drawers were sticky with maple syrup. Unfortunately, the 3rd morning the ants still return.
I really want to love the place because this is what I picked for my family for a little splurge. For a suite that charges more than $360 per night per-tax in Fort Bragg, I would certainly expect better cleanliness. It’s a pity because the suite is beautiful and with good housekeeping the place could have been easily a 5...
