My husband and I had a reservation to camp at one of the cabins which we were very excited about until I called the visitor center on the morning of our reservation only to be hung up on because the lady who answered the phone was too busy. I had a simple question about how to deal with my reservation since I was not able to get to a printer Per the directions on on their website. Still needing clarification about our reservation, my husband called back and the woman explained to him The process and what we should do when we get there. We continued on our way to our campsite. Soon after we were both received a phone call from a deputy sheriff for Larry County saying that a phone call was made to the visitor center that was quite hostile. He asked if we were still coming and told us that we hadn’t been evicted yet even though our check-in time is not until 3 PM and this was about 10:30 in the morning. I canceled our reservation after feeling very unwelcome and quite saddened by the way the ranger and Parks department handled the entire situation. We were very sad to have to cancel and lost over $150 in reservation fees, but that’s not even why I’m writing this review. It’s simply because of how unwelcome and harassed we felt by staff and Parke Rangers when I did absolutely nothing wrong and hadn’t even arrived for our reservation, simply wanted some...

Spent a relaxing Friday on a relative's boat. County staff were super pleasant and helpful. On the boat, pulled up and spent time in several different coves of this 7 mile lake. Each was beautiful and peaceful in its own way, fun to chat and picnic there, while enjoying the foothills scenery. Being a weekday, there were some other boats and personal watercraft, but lake not crowded. Tossed a few crumbs to the ducks and watched several folks having a blast by jumping into the water from the rocks onshore, kayaking and on SUPs. Some of us swam a bit also, the water was perfect! A few coves have outhouses, very welcome... Coves can also be reached by an easy trail, dog friendly. We have visited that way in the past, also quite pleasant. Some of our party wakeboarded a little, and we took a brief tour thru the marina to see some really amazing ve seessels in their slips. Horsetooth is wonderful, would love to camp there...

The park is well maintained by the county, clean and monitored every hour. The camp host was awesome! The resevoir is extremely low so what used to be waterfront sites are no longer. On the flip side, we reserved a 40 ft spot as we are a big 5th wheel and dully truck, in total about 57 ft long. This is NOT big rig friendly although its advertised as such. The site was a "pull thru" but you had to turn around in a tiny area to be able to pull thru on the correct side. The sites have huge rocks used for parameters which gives you very little room and the actual site is not straight, its curved. Try pulling a 40 ft 5th wheel into a curved spot with big rocks on the sides ... not fun. The website should be updated and adjusted for what the park can accommodate. 30 ft rigs or smaller will do much better at this location...

Love that Horsetooth is in my backyard! It's within a 30 min. drive, making it easy to steal away to enjoy some time in this beautiful place. Great spot for swimming, boating and my favorite, paddle boarding! Several outfits offer a variety of rentals (kayaks, SUPs, boats), making it convenient since you don't have to mess with the hassle of transport or undergo the experience of buying gear. There are various campsites available (RV, tent, cabin, boat-in) and they fill fast. Booking a reservation at the top of the year is recommend if you're interested in specific dates. It's worth taking the time to plan early as walk-up sites are first come, first serve and go quick. Whether for a day trip, overnighter or a long weekend, it's truly a great spot.

We were so disappointed with our experience here, but hoping we were the outlier. We camp often and have never experienced such a trash filled campground. We arrived 6 hours after check out so there should have been plenty of time for hosts to inspect the area. Our Firepit was filled with non-burnable items like fishing hooks and line, plastic bottles, cans, clothes hangers. There were abandoned fishing hooks and lures on the ground that my toddlers almost stepped on. Cigarettes everywhere. Overall we picked up a full bag of trash and then some just in our campsite.
