We stayed here for 7 days at the RV camp grounds. We had access to the waterpark for a fee (20 bucks a day per person) we had access to the lake, the amenities advertised online weren’t true, there were kayaks available, that was it. The office was closed to see about the water tricycle but that’s all we saw to use at the lake. We had access to the dock at the lake to fish from and the kids loved that. The sign that had “Chesnut Bay” was really wobbling though. Wouldn’t recommend leaning on it unless you’re prepared to fall in. The beach part to the lake really could use some clean up from all the debris and the chairs could use an upgrade. For it to be advertised as luxury, it really wasn’t. We absolutely loved the 800 pool. It was clean and looked to be the best up kept pool there. We went to all of the pools and the pool with the waterfall was almost like lake water. Just dirty. The waterpark was a lot of fun!! We loved it! Slides were cool and we spent three days there. The concession was only available at the smaller kids area though. The other concession at the top was never open any of the three days we went. It would be super nice if they offered more food. Like a restaurant. The ice cream cooler was down almost the entire week we were there so that was a bummer. The activities center was cool and the lady running it was so super sweet. The kids loved the glow party they had and the dive in movie at the 800 pool. The putt putt course…..it’s terrible. No other description other than it shouldn’t even be advertised. It’s run down and dirty and not kept up at all. The entire place could use some TLC. The landscape is not well kept. It was super expensive to rent a golf cart too and they don’t allow personal golf carts. I think it was like 600 for the week. No discounts for longer stays either. The zip line course is no longer available. We overheard that corporate took over and it was too much of a liability. That really was disappointing. Our 8 year old was definitely bummed she couldnt do that. All in all we had fun but definitely wouldn’t call this place luxury camping. It does have the potential to be but it doesn’t look...

Great little campground, or if you do not own an RV, there are many different houses to rent. We came Labor Day weekend 2022 & had a great time. They seem to have separated the campground from the lake houses. The only downside to this is, if you bring your RV, you can have a view of the lake, but you will not get a spot close to the lake since all the houses are by the lake. The campground is situated up on the hillside. There is easy access to the lake, but it is best if you bring either an e-bike or bring/rent a golf cart. It can be a long walk to the lake, although there is a tunnel giving the guest a nice, easy passageway from the campground side to the lakeside. Not to mention there are many many hills. Since we brought our RV, I can only comment on the campground area. There is plenty to do for the kids. They have a few playground areas, jumping pad, a pool, nice bathhouses, a water park (costs extra), arcade, half court basketball, activity area w/ corn hole toss, mini golf, & shuffleboard. On the other side (where the lake houses are) there are 2 small pools, volleyball, a beach area on the lakeside, & a few water activities (kayak, water bike). For an extra fee, you can rent a jet ski or pontoon boat. There is also an app you can download that mentions all the activities going on during the day. This helps to keep the kids entertained and busy, as well as a few adults. The RV sites are all full hookup , w/ only a few that are paved (mostly the ones w/ a lake view). The others are well maintained w/ gravel. All come w/ a nice picnic table on a paved slab (or a few are on a porch overlooking the lake). If you are wanting more of a quiet place w/ a nice view, I would suggest getting a lakeview spot. The other spots are located closer to the activity area where all the kids love to play. Only downside to the resort is, I wish there were camping spots close to the lake rather than just...

This would be 5 star if it wasn't for one issue. This is our FAVORITE campground. Seriously always super clean and perfect for a family get away. Ms. Glenda is amazing! My only request is--- last year when we went, it was hard to get in touch with anyone bc there was a new system and y'all were extremely busy (of course it makes sense for summer to be your busy season)... This year, it has ALSO been extremely hard to get in touch with anyone, and again, it is because y'all have a new system. I had called multiple times, left messages, wrote your fb, and did everything I could to be able to pay for a reservation that had been made. In the days of calls and messages, I received ONE call back, and of course, it was when I was starting a load of laundry in another room. I immediately called back, and got no answer. Today, after calling and leaving a voicemail and messaging again, I checked my email only to realize that my reservation was canceled at midnight for non-payment. I messaged and called again, and got Ms. Glenda. She took care of me. She took down my number, restored my reservation, called me back and took my payment. She is AMAZING. The people are great. The campground is great. But next year... PLEASE... can y'all NOT get a new system in your busy season? And maybe hire more people to handle reservations, bc I know y'all are swamped. I love this place, but this reservation was for us to be there for my best friend's son's 5th birthday celebration... And the stress I went through just trying to make the payment (my friend had reserved it for me when she did hers so we would know we were side by side, and she was told I'd be sent a text with a link to pay--- I wasn't), AND it being canceled and having to be remade is entirely too much. You are superior on all other fronts, but this needs...

Our cabin at Great Escapes RV Resort Chesnut Bay in Cherokee County, Alabama was a tiny home that had all the amenities of a full house! With views of Weiss Lake and the stunning foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this is a perfect vacation destination! With RV hookups, a waterpark, and boat and water-sports rental, what more could you want for your vacation destination?! #greatescapeschestnutbayresort #visitcherokeecountyal #weisswatersports #chestnutbay #appalachianmountains #tourism
