My husband and I stayed here for two nights over Christmas 2019 in the Misty Fjords cabin. We had a great time! We wanted a little mountain staycation, and that's exactly what we got.

As others suggested, I called in to make a reservation about a month before our stay because the website needs a serious upgrade. We got the cabin we wanted on the days we wanted.

I also tried to book a sleigh ride, but beware - if the staff don't call you back to confirm, it probably hasn't been booked properly. I never received a callback and when we got there I was super disappointed that we weren't on the list. Sleigh rides are given through a family farm nearby, and based on the attitude of the front desk attendant, I got the feeling they weren't the most organized or responsive. Thankfully, we were reimbursed the cost with no fuss.

The resort seems to be intended for couples - there was a surprisingly wide selection of condoms, lubricants, honey dust, massage oil etc. available for purchase in the front office (all in classy packaging, don't worry) along with the usual razors, Tylenol, deodorant, etc.

I loved that breakfast was delivered to your door in the morning. You circle what you want on their little request form, and then the next morning just call the front desk to let them know to bring it to you. It's not a huge meal - if I were a big breakfast person, I'd probably still be hungry after. The fruit was good quality (a selection of melon, pineapple and berries yum). The sweet breads were okay - I wasn't impressed with the waffle, but the French toast was fine. The omlet was good - get the one with all the veggies and meat in it. Everything else was as expected. Think diner-style only smaller portions.

The cafe is not open for dinner, so you have to go into town. The front desk provides a list of nice places to eat, which was highly appreciated. Over the winter holiday, though, a lot of places were closed, so it was a little troublesome to find a place to eat. If we go back again, I'll make some dinner reservations beforehand.

The cabin itself was small, but clean and with cute decor. Husband loved all the wood paneling and exposed beams. It had a mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker (plus coffee, caf and decaf, tea, and ... hot coco I think?) but NO MICROWAVE. No closet, either, FYI. The bed was big and lovely with lots of pillows, the linens were clean and there were two terrycloth bathrobes provided. The carpet was old but clean. The water pressure in the shower was weak, and the shower head was small, which lead to me being cold where the water didn't touch, no matter how hot I turned the tap. Not a great place for sexy-but-dangerous shower adventures. On the flip side, my husband (5’ 9”, 200lbs) and I (5' 5", 175lbs, 7 months pregnant) were both able to fit comfortably in the tub if I sat in front of him. The tub takes a while (20-30 minutes) to fill, btw.

We didn't have any trouble with noise from the canyon or the air conditioner, and since there was only one window we had plenty of privacy.

Again, this is more of a mountain sex destination rather than a family fun center. There isn't a lot to do on the resort. It's pretty close to the ski slopes, but there aren't any walking trails or playgrounds on the resort property. Up in the loft of the main building is a game area, but it's limited. There's ping pong, table-style shuffle board, and a few old board games. I think most people would come here for the bed and bathtub, or for the easy access to ski slopes. But pets are welcome :)

Things to bring: A DVD player or downloaded movies on a personal device. There is cable TV available, but the wifi in the cabins is SUPER SLOW. We had a lot of trouble connecting, let alone streaming Netflix. Slippers. The bathroom floor is tile, and it's hella cold. The transition from carpet to tile was brutal without something covering my toes. A speaker. If you like mood music, bring your own speaker - there isn't really anything to project sound on otherwise.

Hope...

UPDATE- pending refund on room. We went for the first time to the Alaskan Inn to celebrate a special occasion last night. We haven’t been able to do anything special in awhile and I was really excited. Especially since it seems pretty popular. We got there to check in and had booked a sleigh ride. We were unaware that the sleigh rides were given off property about 17 minutes away so we almost missed our slot. When we got into our room it was seemed set up nicely but on closer inspection things were very dusty, a towel had a gray ish burn mark or something on it, the rug wasn’t smoothed out etc. But I didn’t want to make a huge deal out of it. We were told to fill out our breakfast choices and bring them back to the front desk by 9:00. We filled them out and double checked w the front desk regarding when to drop them off. She said she would be happy to come and grab the paper from us, but then she never came. They advertise that they offer dessert and lunch options but they only had dessert options. We called to order dessert and she said it would be 40 minutes. Which I decided was fine since we could just take a bath or something while we waited. Our baby was playing on the bed and my husband hurried and moved him over and when I looked to see why he had done so, there was a bug on the bed. I brushed it off since we were in the canyon, and it was just one bug. We went upstairs to check out the new game room option, but they didn’t have very many games which was disappointing. But maybe people took them to their rooms. We were settling in for the night and then my husband noticed another bug on the bed, and then another one. I moved the baby from the bed and we noticed another bug fell from the ceiling onto the bed. We called the front desk and told her that we have found several bugs on our bed. And I asked if that was a typical thing for their hotel. She said that they like to come inside during the winter, and asked if I had a window open. I told her that I was not even aware the windows opened so no it was not, and had not been and that I was uncomfortable being there especially with a baby, and with bugs falling from the ceiling. She said that unfortunately the only thing she can do is offer us a free dessert and come and spray the room. But that we would have to be out of the room for at least 30 minutes. She said she would move us into another room but that they were booked out. I told her I would speak to my husband and I call her back. Within 5 minutes we found several more bugs on the bed and on the table. At this point I wanted to speak with her in person to remedy this issue. I went and told her (robyn) that I was very upset that there were bugs in our room. I could understand one or even two. But the fact that there were several and they were tumbling from the ceiling is unacceptable. Especially since we spent nearly $500 to stay there (with packages). She offered to spray the room again, I asked what she sprays it with. She told me she didn’t know, it was a can of something and she had never used it before. So I am assuming it is a grocery store grade pesticide, which who knows if it is even safe for our infant to be around. I told her that I would like to speak with a supervisor and she said she would have one call me in the morning. And that we would likely get a free night or something due to our issue, so we left. Which it is 3:30 the next day and I haven’t heard from anyone and I called to speak with someone and was told (Britney) would call me back when she arrived to work. So basically we went out for a staycation, our bed was covered in bugs, we were offered free dessert and a quick spray down of who knows what in our room..and that’s it. We spent nearly $500 to stay there and enjoy it and we ended up packing up our belongings and leaving at 11:00 at night with our baby because we kept finding more and more insects. I can honestly say we will...

We went to The Alaskan Inn a couple of days ago. We were really excited to get away from home for a few days and a couple of nights. We had a couple of friends recommend it to us. Before we arrived we thought it would be fun to order their "picnic by the river" basket and their chocolate covered strawberries. We were really looking forward to our little get away. We reserved the Denali! We wanted a king size bed so that we would both sleep comfortably. We were also looking forward to relaxing in the Jacuzzi tub. We knew that every room has one. When we got there it was late and the service to check in was nice and friendly. They gave us the key and we went to our second floor suite. Inside the room was a little fridge with our chocolate covered strawberries. They were small. They were not as big as we were expecting for 3$ each. They didn't seem fresh either. However we were given 8 instead of 6. The king size bed was a nice size with comfortable linens but it sagged considerably. Not really that comfortable. The pillows were too small and often fell behind the bed. There are no showers. We knew this. There were no complimentary drinks. Besides the sparkling cider that we paid for there was nothing to drink. There was coffee packets and a coffee maker. But, for us non coffee drinkers there should have been complimentary bottles of water along with hot cocoa packets which we did request. They were never given to us. As for the rest of our basket that was supposed to have been in our room, we had to go to the front desk and request it. For $75.00 which we thought was high. we got a small plastic plate of cherries, blueberries, over ripe kiwi slices, and blackberries, 24 assorted crackers, a handful of carrots and celery. The celery was not very good. There wasn't any veggie dip. Salty unrecognizable/ possibly uncooked meat, which we had to throw away. A small bottle of sparkling apple juice, a small bottle of Orange juice, a small can of blackberry fiz, a can of coke which we exchanged because we don't drink. And no cheese slices which is what we wanted in the first place. A waterproof picnic blanket along with about a dozen chocolates were also included in our basket. We had to go back to the front desk and get out cheese. Which ended up being coffee flavored. The coffee flavored cheese when opened filled the room. With a bad and overwhelming stench of coffee. The Jacuzzi tub was interesting. The light on the wall was on a timer and would not turn off. We again went to the front desk to ask for assistance to turn off the light. Later we wanted to try out the Jacuzzi. The amount of water was nice but for some reason the jets in the tub didn't work. Imagine a very large bath tub without spa jets. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Overall the location was superb. But the stay could have been improved considerably! The breakfast that came with the room was delicious and it was delivered to our room. Direct tv was an added bonus, we were able watch our favorite shows. They also had decent wifi and complentary movie rentals. There were places close by that we went to for meals. There is also a Smith's grocery store at the mouth of the canyon. There is a beautiful view of the Ogden river from the room. The humming of the river was quite soothing. After reading this you might be wondering, Would we go back? Yes! To give it another try? Yes! I think I would like to pick a different room in person. Would we suggest it to our friends?...
