Snowbowl got a BUNCH of snow this week so we thought we’d share a hack to saving money going skiing at Snowbowl this month! They have cabins at the base of the mountain called BASECAMP that also has a bar/restaurant. If you stay there Sunday - Thursday on a week night this March, you’ll receive two lift tickets 🎫 We saved $200 when we tried this hack last week. The cabins are very cozy and comfortable. They were just renovated and definitely feel new! We liked that the next morning we could just hop up and drive up the mountain and avoid all the downtown flagstaff traffic that we typically have to deal with driving up from Phoenix. When you’re on the mountain, be sure to take extra care and leave no trace. Stay on trail, don’t litter, and spend some time appreciating the beauty of this mountain. Have fun at Snowbowl!! Tag us if you go ⛷ #sponsored @azsnowbowl

Last summer, Jana and the kids took a 2 day getaway trip to Flagstaff. Escaping the Phoenix heat in August is always a good idea and we were excited to explore outside the entire time. Well, as the weather went…it rained about 70% of our visit. But despite some changed plans, we actually had a fun getaway and would recommend everything we did! First, did you know the @azsnowbowl has lodging options? Appropriately named Basecamp at Snowbowl, they are located at the intersection of Hwy 180 and Snowbowl Road (right before you head up the mountain.) These small cabins are cozy and well maintained! We stayed in a studio style cabin with two double beds and a bathroom, just the right size for the four of us. There was some woods to explore (we found so many mushrooms!), a simple basketball court, and a restaurant right across the parking lot! The food was delicious too, just what we needed. The kid’s meals were discounted, with a purchase of adult entrees. The location is removed and peaceful from Flagstaff, but close enough to enjoy all the activities offered. Definitely look up this getaway spot! The next day, we headed up the mountain for gondola rides! Don’t miss this ride up to 11,000+ feet to sweeping views of the valley below. Even on our partially rainy day, it was impressive. There are also fun activities offered, like a bungee trampoline, summer tubing, and a rock wall! Again, rain kept us from enjoying them but it’s on our must do list this year. And psssst - winter or summer, you can get hot chocolate at the bar by the gondola entrance! This was a hands down a winner with tired and damp kiddos. Other things we did on this 2 day getaway: ✔️attempted to hike the Lava Tubes (it’s super dark and slippery, not for young kids) ✔️got coffee and food at Flagstaff Station and Kickstand Coffee ✔️enjoyed the indoor waterpark at the Flagataff Aquaplex played at Cheshire Park ✔️escaped the rain at the Museum of Northern Arizona ✔️lunch at Bow Wow Hot Dogs

Gross. Dirty and probably a health hazard. The toilet still had poop stains on it. Had to spend some time cleaning. I know you get what you pay for and I was relieved it was close to the Snowbowl (with the lift tickets is great). I just did not expect it to be so dirty. The shower is ancient and is VERY MOLDY. I mean, so moldy that the white shower curtain we had was never washed and bright pink from the mold. How did they not notice that? We had to ask for a change of curtains because the shower itself was black and it was the least we could do. I am a short person and I had to duck in this shower! Just as a warning**, i don't think it is safe to step on it barefoot. I wish I took a photo of the shower, but I am doing you a favor (trust me). Our neighbor would also bang on his wall whenever we would get to our room, so differing hours was a constant issue. We could hear them snoring every night. It was such an uncomfortable experience. The walls are thin, very thin. No clue how they are connected to the snowbowl but cannot renovate the place or at least yknow, less moldy. Yikes. Worst place I've ever stayed at.

tl;dr - I recommend Basecamp at Snowbowl as a no frills, just-right option for folks that want a comfy room with great food (dinner only) and close proximity to Snowbowl. Great location, great staff, great food, good price. Bring a cooler and earplugs and find breakfast elsewhere.

I stayed Basecamp late-February 2024 for two nights - a Monday and Tuesday

Pros: The room was clean and super comfy.

You are amazingly close to the mountain - 16 minutes to the lifts.

The check-in process, and the process to get your lift passes was very smooth and the staff was super helpful (thanks, Cameron for all the information about the mountain and helping get me squared away on the promo codes!).

The Restaurant is fantastic - 5 ⭐s. The Arizona Cheesesteak and Cowboy Burger were both great after a day on the hill. It was a super chill environment to round out the day (thanks, Shea for the hospitality and the information about the upper bowl!).

The room cost + lift ticket is a great deal. Prices surge on the mountain and to have package that allows to get a "free" pass is great. Apply your promo code to your card (See Cameron above☝️) when you purchase it and you are good to go.

Cons: There is no fridge in the room. Plan ahead and bring a cooler with you for keeping any food/drinks cold. (Side note: Basecamp, please offer a breakfast food/coffee option for folks going up the hill. That would be amazing!)

The walls are thin. You share a wall with the cabin next to you. Sometimes that means you need to listen to the dude next to you snore and depending on which room you get you might be along a road. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

The gas fireplace in the room was pretty loud. When it kicked on/off it would clank and wake me up. Again, if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

A ways away from Flagstaff city center if that's your thing. Between the restaurant and the Maverick station 5 minutes up the road, I had...

I’ll be completely honest about this location. Some are gonna love it and some are gonna hate it. We stayed here because our friends had a wedding at a campsite about 15 miles north of this location. We didn’t ski, we didn’t snowboard. The cabins are outdated, thin walls and windows, it’s literally a place to sleep for 1 night after a long period of driving. We knew before we went there that there was no fridge, microwave, or AC. But man, what an inconvenience it is without any of that stuff. We figured we’d be ok without any of that but when you have leftovers from a restaurant and you don’t want to waste money and throw it away, you want to take it back and heat it up later for dinner or a snack, whatever, you can’t do that…the cabin we stayed in faced west, meaning the sun is beaming into our window around 3pm-6pm. The window acted as a magnifying glass and made the whole cabin a sauna with the temps raising up to 85 degrees!! With NO AC!!! The shower was made for very small people. I looked like buddy the elf showering in the North Pole!! I’m 6’2”! The shower head was chest high for me, So uncomfortable! Also, getting out the shower was dangerous! My wife almost fell and got injured! With no warning from the cabins! Also, I went to get a beer from the restaurant at 9:03 not knowing they closed at 9pm. The guy cleaning the tables outside said “yeah the bar is still open” and I went in and some dude says “we’re closed” and I said “well the guy outside said I could get a quick beer” and the guy was like “ok..well it’s 9…” so I walked out. Way to turn away a quick $6 with a tip! Save your time and money, stay in Flagstaff and enjoy the hospitality from the town! We’re never...

We were fortunate enough to be treated to a overnight trip to Snowbowl in the summer to spend time with our daughter and grandson. We have been to many hotels and motels; in contrast, this was a haven in the peaceful woods, rustic and quiet. We found it sufficient and quaint, no frills but comfy. The staff was efficient and friendly, willing to help in any way. Our cabin was not much smaller than a regular motel room. It was well equipped and stocked with basic necessities. I found it was clean with no odors. It was maintained well, except for the gap in the door closing; I'd suggest a good weather stripping to keep out summertime bugs and heat, and cold air in the cold winters. The beds were firm and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed my sleep. Much to our surprise it has a small wood stove that I imagine adds to the ambiance in winter time. In addition to that, outside allows for a leisurely walk in the woods. There's a really nice picnic and recreation area, containing big Jenga blocks, a tetherball pole, a ground checkers game, a Ladder ball set enjoyed by adults and kids. There has allowance for dogs, too. The restaurant has breakfast treats but no service. We had a nice dinner, with a nice little full bar. It was Wednesday night and they had all in the room to play Trivia, it was joint fun. We were happy...
