Dao House — Hotel in Four Corners States

WARNING READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING. Horrible experience from check-in to check-out. The property looks abandoned. There is no TV, and the wi-fi is extremely limited, barely usable. No refrigerators.. they say two shared available, but the shared refrigerator was extremely small (smaller than a dorm frig) and jammed with other guests stuff. Breakfast was a joke, pre-sliced bananas and halfed muffins. The walls are extremely thin. Three guys stayed in the room next to us. They weren't loud or obnoxious or anything, but we heard their conversation as if they were in the room. I had to play white noise to go to sleep but that kept pausing because the internet was so bad. This was not a stay for comfort and relaxation, It was quite the opposite. If you want a no-frills disconnect from the modern world, Dao house is your place. Quiet, peaceful, no cell service, no TV, no AC. Really peaceful and lovely, time for each other face to face. Gorgeous location and views!!

If you like coffee in the morning, you probably should bring it with you. Hot water is always available, but the coffee- that to my knowledge was supposed to be made by the leisurely hour of 7am- never appeared. The mini pot for "early risers" was empty the first morning (never set up) and its product the second morning tasted distinctly of the Asian Grocery scent emanating from the kitchen. Absolutely loved staying here. It really exceeded expectations, everyone was so kind and helpful, the lodge was beautiful and of course the view was beautiful. Everything was nice and clean. If you need wifi for work though I would say this is not the place but if you’re ok keeping it a little rustic, this place is great. We didn’t have service at all but the WiFi worked just fine to book timed entry. We also took their complimentary tai chi class on Sunday morning and the instructor Kris (Chris?) was great, she was a fantastic teacher as we had never done it before! 100% will be staying here again when back in...
