It was almost a four star review, until the last hour of my stay. The front desk staff who assisted me during my stay were very friendly and helpful. This included the young man who checked me in, the older gentleman the following day who helped me extend an extra day, and the woman who helped me with a package of M&M's from their small snack store. The executive King Suites are generous in size and I greatly appreciated the in-room computer work desk where I wrote this review on my laptop and conducted other business. Everything was clean, including the air in my room which is important if you have any respiratory sensitives, asthma or allergies. Not even a hint of mildew in my room or restroom, which is awesome. This is a pet (dog) friendly hotel, so I do not know if that might be an issue for you. Keep in mind however that all of the hotels in this part of New Mexico are pet friendly. At no time did I hear any barking. There were no pet smells or any kind of indicators that any pets had been in my room before. This might be because they have different rooms for guests with pets, otherwise they just clean really well. The bed was firm but not hard and the pillows were reasonably comfortable. My room was across from the indoor swimming pool. I enjoyed stepping out of my door and seeing the shimmering pool through the window across from my room. Overall, this was one of the quieter hotels I have stayed in, but the doors to the hallway are thin, so there is some noise, none that woke me up or disrupted my sleep. Be aware that The thin walls and door bring up a concern I should mention. If you have to do any kind of private or legal activities in your room that require talking on the phone or video sharing private or personal information, others will hear you in the hall if they are by your door. So running the AC Fan on high or having the TV on, may help in making your conversations more private. This would also be the case if your going to be loudly making love with your partner. The mini-refrigerator didn't have the split freezer section that some do in other locations, the large tv had a decent selection of movie channel options and the restroom was well stocked with toilet paper, plenty of towels and toiletries. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy as its featured items. The scrambled eggs and sausage were tasty. Main disappointment with the free breakfast was there were no drinks other than Coffee (I don't drink coffee), and water with ice. Final thoughts: There is a small freezer near the check-in counter where you can purchase frozen meals in the hotel to heat up in your microwave, also various snacks and candies. They can charge your purchase to room bill in case you do not have any cash. To my disappointment, I had to drop this review down from four stars to three stars while I was eating breakfast and editing my review on the last morning for what I consider an inexcusable violation of privacy. An employee tapped two times lightly on my door at 9AM and then walked into my room while I was updating my review. I had the do-not-disturb sign up, and thought the knocking might be for the room next door. No one asked if anyone was in the room. I could of been in the restroom next to the door. Normally I would of still been sleeping with the room dark at this time, I got up early so I could review the breakfast. The person entering my room never identified themselves before entering or after exiting my room as an employee. For obvious reasons, this could of been a dangerous safety issue for the employee in particular.

1. The key only works if one follows the directions on the back of it and taps the appropriate corner. 2. Rooms facing east have a direct view of I-40 and noise from constant trucks, which at first seemed bad, but when I lay my head down very tired I didn't notice it and went right to sleep. 3. They allow dogs, and while checking in all three sets of people who walked by us had a dog, but the hotel said they put these mostly on the 2nd floor and follow a prescribed required cleaning procedure, so there was zero dog smell anywhere. We figured dog people would be more considerate. 4. I asked for a room with no one next to me if possible, and was assigned a 3rd-floor room at the south end, across from an exit and the room with the ice machine, which made a huge constant roar, and there was still someone next to me. I went back and got a room on the north end. 5. Noisy people checked in around 11 p.m. and were put next to us, and talked loudly. I banged on he wall three times and someone immediatly banged back louder, which wasn't nice, and kept talking, but were slightly quieter. 6. I saw reviews for the Desert Inn next door, and next time would stay there instead, or over on Route 66. 7. I did like that, as a walk-in, they registered my stay to my Wyndham Rewards account so I got credit for it.

Tuesday morning front desk staff was rude and unprofessional!!!! The woman working should be fired or at least never work with people. I asked for a receipt and she scoffed and rolled her eyes. This was not a kid or teenager but a grown adult. I wanted to set an example so I just explained to my daughter that she was unprofessional and you never treat another person this way, let alone a CUSTOMER. I am giving 2 stars because the actual rooms are fine. Hotel is under construction so breakfast as limited and the heater in room only worked after we reset it. I would give the front desk (morning staff) a zero. Evening check in was fine. Breakfast a one (reason Hotel was recommended) and the room 3 (because of heater) but if not for that a 4

The WORST La Quinta in the entire chain!!

Let's go down the list of reasons why...

First off, I called during the say before ever booking and specifically asked if the jacuzzi was working.. daytime guy (name started with a J) says "yes, im certain". I was only booking this place because it had a jacuzzi so I held a room.

When I arrived at night, I asked the night girl Aleeesia (who has the worst attitude and demeanor of ANY front desk person I have EVER MET) if the jacuzzi "for sure works before you charge my card?". She also says yes. So i check-in and put stuff in room (we will get to how bad the room stinks in a minute) and Go to get in jacuzzi and the pumps DONT WORK!! So i go to desk and tell Aleesia and her exact response "well, that's how it is, so"

Now she knew at that point all the other hotels were Sold Out in the area due to an accident on I-40 causing everyone to have to book rooms in Tucumcari. Therefore she knew she could be rude and I had to take it. Again, the most UNPROFESSIONAL La Quinta and Hotel Employee I have ever encountered!!

Let's get to the room part now. Upon entering I noticed an overbearing stench of Wood Varnish and Pet Piss, in which I went to the same idiot at the desk and asked to switch to which she replied "open a window" (it was 40° that night). Being that every room and hotel was Sold Out, she knew I couldn't do anything about it and was able to give attitude like that.

This Hotel shouldn't be allowed to carry the La Quinta name, La Quinta corporate needs to send some Secret Shoppers in to audit these dogcrap employees who don't know the status of their amenities or how to PROPERLY treat guests.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

One Star is too much for this toilet(literally smells like...

Made the reservation for 10-8 for Tucumcari returning from my grandmother's funeral from Arizona to Oklahoma. Said my confirmation would be emailed. I drove 9 hours with my 2 small children on the 8th. My eyes started feeling heavy, I was extremely tired. I made a decision to stop in Santa Rosa La Quinta instead, rather that risk falling asleep at the wheel. There were a few issues checking into Santa Rosa, but as soon as I was in my room I called Tucumcari La Quinta at 6:14 pm. I explained that I stopped for safety and that I was canceling. In the morning I noticed a charge for $139.50. I called at 9:16 am, the gentleman that answered told me there was no record of my reservation or cancelation. That he showed no record of me. I called back today and spoke with a very uncaring and unsympathetic individual named Veronica. She very rudely told me I was a no show and that they had every right to charge me per policy. I said what policy, I wasn't informed this at reservation. I explained to her I wasn't a no show, that I had phone records showing my call to her hotel at 6:14 pm. She wanted my cancelation number, I then checked my email to discover no email from this hotel had ever been sent for the reservation or the cancelation. She told me she would not refund my money. I called corporate La Quinta, they had my reservation and cancelation number but informed me it would take up to 7 days for someone to get ahold of me. Because they took my money, I almost couldn't make it home. HOW HORRIBLE IS THIS TO DO THIS TO A MOM ON HER WAY HOME FROM A FUNERAL 😭I need...
