For the past four years my family has joyfully gathering at the Pecos River Cabins in Pecos New Mexico. The lodge is open and spacious, the best kitchen ever for a crowd and loads of cups and plates and glasses and adequate space to prepare meals. The gas range is an absolute pleasure to use. What is rare in rentals is the long table that can seat 8, 10 or 12 persons…room to all to sit down and eat at once and still have a puzzle or card game going on the end. The Porch is most inviting…lots of seating or BBQing and the bonus is the nearby creek. The sounds from the Pecos River and the always filled bird feeders are so pleasurable. Besides the lodge, the nearby cabins are smaller, comfortable, and welcoming. PRC has comfortable beds, pillows, sofas and rockers and loads of towels and luxurious linens. Everything needed is in each of the two different cabins my family has often rented. If you’re lucky to be there in the spring or mid summer the owner has you surrounded with flowers and green lawn and shade trees and a welcoming path to walk along the gurgling river. Hopefully my family will be able to return to the Pecos River Cabins for the next four or more years and enjoy the owners warm welcome and the relaxing location. It’s a little slice of heaven in an unsuspecting location. PS. The always present big bag of Chips and Salsa are a most...
Read moreWe had a wonderful 3 night stay in Pinon Cabin April 15-18. The cabin was just as it appears on the website. Very clean and comfortable. Just lovely. Rushing river right outside the back door. The owner is friendly and attentive. We noticed about 8 PM on our first evening that we did not have coffee filters (a minor emergency for us). We made a call and the filters were cheerfully delivered to our door in about 30 seconds. I would describe the surrounding property as "endearingly ramshackle." A little rough around the edges here and there but not in a neglectful way at all. It adds to the character of the place, which has been a "fishing camp" for decades. We loved it and do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who appreciates accomodations that are outside of the tourist area and a little off the beaten path. The river path is very short, and the surrounding area is not wooded or "wildernessy" as I had envisioned. There is no opportunity for longer walks right from the property. But that misperception was due to my unfamiliarity with the area, not any misrepresenation on the website. One minor suggestion I would make is brighter bulbs in the lamps. There is plenty of overhead lighting, but the lamps were pretty dim. A very minor thing in an overall...
Read moreMy wife and I spent 5 nights in one of the cabins of the Pecos River Cabins, Pecos, NM, in October, 2019. Our cabin was very well maintained, clean and comfortable. Kim lives on the property, in fact right next door to our particular cabin, and she was thoroughly attentive and available. When I reluctantly texted her at 10:30 pm about a little concern, she was immediately responsive and corrected the issue immediately. The little Pecos River was a stone's throw from the back patio. We took several delightful walks along the path on the property adjacent to the river, more like a babbling brook at this time of year. We especially appreciated that from our home in southeast Albuquerque we got to Pecos in about an hour and a half drive. Pecos sits at 7000 feet altitude but a 20-mile scenic drive north takes you through the Pecos National Forest to a trail head at 9000 feet where the aspens were just beginning their Fall change to their quivering gold leaf display. We strongly suspect this will not be our last visit. Hope this is helpful in your vacation decisions. Tim and Pat Black,...
