Redington Pass Dispersed — Hotel in Four Corners States

Sooo I didn't research this before going, expected just like a large swath of desert to camp on...but this...it's up a winding mountain and the road is ROUGH. It's also fairly crowded. My 2nd gen honda crv did fine but it wasn't fun (I don't like being tossed around in a vehicle stuck in 1st gear). When I left in the morning I noticed that everyone driving as far back as I did (about 10 miles, which is how far I had to go to find an unoccupied spot to camp) was driving a modded out side by side or dirt bike...so yeah....that's what kind of road this is just beware lol. Just been told by a Ranger that we can’t come back until 6 months later!?!?! That wasn’t said on their website anywhere. The convenience to town and the creek only slightly outweigh the chaos this place is on the weekend, with OHVs galore. I wish they had their own designated trails to be obnoxious on. I also wish shooting was not considered an appropriate recreational activity on public lands. Our site has so much broken glass, ceramic, and bullet casings. The actual “shooting ranges” further down the road are full of actual trash that shooters haul up...
