Mismanaged, they care more about making money than their guests.
We were hiking through on the Colorado Trail. We really needed a place to stay (haven’t showered in 5 days). They had a room, we needed a room, but they wouldn’t give it to us.
Their website says “two night minimum stay preferred” but that’s a lie because they refused to let us rent the 170$ room for one night. Even on the day of, I called at 8 AM to ask for a room and they said it was two nights only. I asked the lady if I could call back later and have the room if it didn’t book. She said “I like that idea, call me back at 4:00, that’s checkin time” So I called back at 4, after sitting under an abandoned building in the rain for hours, we called. She said the room wasn’t booked yet but we couldn’t have it unless we stayed two nights. I reminded her, she told me to call at 4:00. She said “Well I’m still not convinced it won’t sell! If you call me back later, I might break and give you the room!” She knew we were hikers, in need of a room, in the rain and she was still playing with us trying to get more money out of us at 4:00 PM when she had a room open but wouldn’t give it to us.
They way she responded was unprofessional, their website and policy say they “prefer” a two night stay, so why do they pick and choose when this is a thing. Also it was a Sunday night, so she wanted us to stay Sunday and Monday. It honestly was so disheartening to finally hike 84 miles into a town in the rain, and be turned away because the hotel has a room but won’t give it to us. We hiked back out in the rain, and waited another 5...
Read moreStayed nearly a year ago. Bathroom not ensuite, but across the hall. Not a big inconvenience, except my husband waswa bit ill after dinner. My complaint was the continental breakfast. Basically, oj, coffee, and a rather dry cinnamon roll. No fruit or toast Nothing else. And there wasnt enough oj for both of us. Had to take it back to room as it was drizzling and it's supplied in kind of a closet. Not what I think of as a continental breakfast. If you don't eat sweets in the am, it's a bit of a problem as there is only one restaurant in town, and I'm not sure it was open. Lucky I had packed some food.
In response to owner, our bathroom was private just across the hall. We did not realize that breakfast was served exactly at 7 am. We were not told this. I believe we got up at 8:30. Also, it was drizzling out so there was no one on the outdoor patio. We walked around trying to figure out where breakfast was, and it was in a small room. We must have walked into the leftovers. We could not find anyone ...
Read moreWe loved staying at the Roadhouse. Plus Twin Lakes is a great, quiet area, and close to a lot of great outdoor areas to explore.
We stayed in Room 3 for 2 nights. We loved the room itself. The people above us were loud at times. So noise from above could be an issue.
Only real problem we had was with coffee; which is fairly important to us. Coffee shop never opened during our stay. And the Keurig coffee maker never would make coffee right again, after it ran out of water the first day. I texted about it and was told someone would look at it. (I filled the water myself when it ran out.) Tried again the next morning and it did the same thing. I'm sure its been worked out by now. But coffee at the Roadhouse would have made the stay perfect. There are a couple other places to get coffee in town but...
