Snowy Peaks was a pleasant surprise for us. We honestly didn’t know if we should expect much based on the few pictures we saw but it turned out to be one of our favorite places we stayed at! Their park is directly facing the mountains which makes for a gorgeous view! We had site 40 and though it was supposed to be a back in site we pulled our Class A in the other direction so our front door was facing the mountains and it also practically gave us a front yard which was very nice! The only thing that caused that site to not be potentially the best we’ve ever had was that it was W/E only, which we knew beforehand and chose to save money, and it was right on the highway which was surprisingly busy all throughout the day for such a small town so it was quite noisy from that. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. The bathrooms/showers, though clearly very old, were kept extremely clean every day. It was the only campground we’ve stayed at in Colorado so far this year that allowed campfires so that was a huge bonus. We both work full time and were able to work off their internet some. Some days it would work all day just fine, other days we had to switch to our Verizon jet pack so it was just very hit and miss. We did have around 3-4 bars LTE at the campsite the whole time we were there which was also nice considering the lack of service a lot of places we went just outside of the campground. Overall, this is not the nicest looking RV park you’ll see but it is well maintained, the staff are all great, and the views are to die for! Not to mention Buena Vista is a great little town that’s within an hour of Breckenridge and Vail and also offers great whitewater rafting (we recommend Noah’s ark personally) and so many places to go hike, fish, swim, or just see beautiful views. And definitely check out the Camacho Drive-in theater while you’re there!Definitely somewhere we’d stay again, especially if we could get site 40 again (just a heads up, you do NOT want site 41 unless you don’t plan to spend much time there).

My wife and I are fairly new to the world of RVing. Purchased our travel trailer Memorial Day weekend and since then, we only have less than a hand full of trips under our belt. I was looking for an RV park to spend a week away this September and stumbled across Snowy Peaks RV Park in Buena Vista. Since I was looking for a pull thru site, Snowy Peak had a few to choose from and after looking at site pictures, I upgraded to a premium pull-thru. To have the extra space, along with room to store both my truck and trailer together, I couldn’t go wrong. The price was reasonable as this was a full hook up site. Day of arrival, the staff was super friendly as they showed us around the clubhouse. A staff member guided us to our site where we pulled in and to my amazement, the site was extremely flat and level and very well kept. This made for disconnecting from the truck and setting up very smooth and easy. During our stay, the park itself was very clean. The restrooms were well maintained, and the laundry room was clean and tighty. As the staff members made their rounds throughout the day, they were always ready to wave and say hello. The nights were peaceful and quite even though the park seemed to be approximately ¾ quarters full. During one of our daily walks, we discovered the area which allows for tent campers. This area is towards the back of the property but still within close proximity to the restrooms and pull-thru sites in which we will be. 😊 The location of the park was less than a 45-minute drive to Turquoise Lake and the town of Leadville. After this experience, my wife and I will defiantly be returning next year, making this an annual retreat for us. We are looking forward to sharing this RV park with my parents, who also have a large fifth wheel and our adult children who still enjoy tent camping. Thank you again to all the staff members and the owners of this beautiful property. Chris Timme

PET OWNERS BEWARE – This Place Is a Scam, Not “Pet Friendly” If you have dogs, avoid Snowy Peaks RV Park in Buena Vista at all costs. They advertise themselves as “pet friendly,” but the reality is the exact opposite. The moment we arrived with our two pups (a Westie and a Jack Russell), we were harassed by staff. Here’s what you can really expect: Dogs are banned from touching grass. Let that sink in—they call themselves pet friendly, yet grass is strictly off-limits. Dog fences are prohibited on grass, even if the fence is almost entirely on gravel. Ours was 98% on gravel, yet still not acceptable. Instead, your pets must sit on blazing hot gravel in full sun all day. The staff actually walk around the campground posting signs on people’s RV windows with the order: “Move fence to gravel.” We have photos of both the so-called “manager” and these ridiculous signs. The “manager,” with a chip on his shoulder and an appalling lack of professionalism, used hostile, confrontational language with me. It was bullying, plain and simple. We were there barely an hour before we packed up and left in disgust. The hypocrisy of advertising as “pet friendly” while creating an openly hostile environment for dog owners is astounding. Thankfully, we went next door to another RV resort where the people were amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming, and—imagine this—our dogs were actually treated like part of the family. Snowy Peaks RV Park is a joke and a hostile trap for pet owners. Don’t waste your time or money here. If you travel with pets, head to Moon Stream RV Park or Mt. Princeton RV Park instead—both are truly welcoming and far more deserving of your stay.

When we first pulled up to the park I was a little disappointed. It wasn't what I expected. The clubhouse/office was rundown with a front window that looked like it had been broken for years. Most sites are narrow & you have views of the junkyard to the south, the grubby storage area, or trashy mobile homes to the north or your neighbors front door,  as many sites face each other. Lots of year round campers. Many are very nice people & have nice campers, but lots have shabby campers. Several longterm residents should be kicked out, but are allowed to stay. We had one person steal packages, break into vehicles, go into people's sites & tents when they weren't there. I personally took many complaints about this person. We had another who liked to yell & threatened a family one night. The police have been in the park on numerous occasions. The wi-fi is spotty at best. People who have stayed at the park multiple times for several years said this is the first-time it hasn't worked. They also said they won't be returning, as they weren't able to get any work done. Just like everything else the manager did nothing(he live out of state & was never there) The laundry room smells like sewer. The washers don't wash your clothes & only one dryer works. We went to the laundromat to wash our clothes. The sewer in the 30's has backed up on several occasions so the park often smells like sewer. We had electrical issues at several posts. Instead of hiring a real electrician to fix it they had the workampers do it. They do have a loose dog problem. I personally helped breakup a dog fight. My husband & I also took a dog to the local shelter(the campground is on a busy hwy). When we told the manager he told us not to do that again. Turns out he had been watching the dog run around the park for 1 1/2hrs & did nothing about it. This was after the dogfight. The second time we caught a dog running loose & I took it to the shelter. The owners came & thanked me, because there dog was safe. They still have dogs that run loose from the junkyard nextdoor. I know the "manager" or owners(none of which live in the state) will say I'm a disgruntled ex-employee, which I am, but everything I've stated above is factual. It fact what I've stated above is just the tip of the iceberg. I loved my job. I met some wonderful people while working at the park & I truly hope I made there stay better. I will say we are now staying at a much nicer campground just down the road. The new owners of Snowy Peaks should come visit it, to get ideas on how a nice campground...

The staff ruined a nice weekend with my parents. If you enjoy crotchety old men coming into your campsite at 9am yelling at you then this is the place for you!

My parents had booked an RV site with a tent. I checked in as the tent. This place has rules & fines for everything and they go over the entire page with you at checkin. I was told specifically by two women in the office at checkin that the rule for nothing on the grass did not apply to my tent and they charged me $20 for it. Put up my tent that evening next to my parents RV and went to sleep. Next morning we are enjoying our breakfast and time together and suddenly this guy in a golf cart shows up ready to fight. He approached us aggressively and immediately started demanding I take my tent off the grass. Of course my reaction escalated quickly bc of how I was approached. I told him that his office staff had told me specifically that my tent was allowed on the grass and I had paid to have it there. I told him I would move my tent but wanted a refund. Nope. No refunds. Get your tent off the grass or I’m kicking you out. When I continued to explain what I had been told by his office staff (who ended up being his wife) he looks at my dad and says “you better shut her up”. The brazen rudeness of this guy was unreal! My dad ended up going to the office with him where the woman in the office admitted her mistake and miscommunication. They told me I was not allowed on the grass and could instead put my tent on their gravel driveway only. I ended up just car camping that night bc I’m not going to sleep on straight up gravel.

His behavior really put a damper on our day. If your version of customer service is to approach your guests in a fighting stiff arm manner you should be sweeping the floors & not interacting with customers. He apologized the next day which I appreciated but it still did not make up for the fact that he walked into our family breakfast and ruined it.

There are many great places to stay in Colorado & this is not one of them. My 8 & 10 year old said to me on the drive back to Denver “we didn’t like that campsite. It felt dirty & gross”. So that is the honest opinion of kids and they are right. The view of the mountains is lovely but the actual campsite, bathrooms, and grounds were not well maintained and the playground is falling apart. The grass however is beautiful, just don’t put...
