Husband and I booked River Run Cabin for a three night stay. We were greeted as we pulled in. We were told about the "ranch dogs". We had our two dogs with us as well. Was told if there were any issues with anything, or the ranch dogs, to let them know.||||Would have liked to tell them that the German Shepherd came over every morning and stood barking at us and our dogs. TO the point we would give up and go back inside cabin until he left. We don't allow our dogs to bark, it was a nuisance. The other dog, would come up and steel our dogs bowl and then run off with it. Made it very difficult for our dogs to play and get exercise. There is also so much dog poop around cabin that you have to really watch where you walk.||||When my husband and I each tried to shower we did not have much of any hot water. The water never got hot enough for one shower, and was much cooler for second shower. We were unable to find anyone the next day to discuss this with, we had an early morning appointment. By the time we got back it was later in evening and did not feel right going and knocking on doors of private residence. We would have gladly called, however there is no cell service or wifi you can count on. We were not told about lack of cell service.||||Was told that she would leave us an invoice on our door. Never received one by time we checked out. Was emailed one a few days later. They were billing us an extra $140.00, instead of deducting that for our deposit. Was unable to get a hold of anyone when we tried calling. We were still traveling and in and out of cell service a fair amount. The total amount was corrected when they put it through on our card.||||It seems they are a bit too busy with full time jobs to take care of guest that stay, and...
Read moreJust tried to call today (for the first time) and check availability to take my wife and 3 daughters to the mountains for Christmas. Somehow lost connection during the very first call I have ever tried to make to this establishment. Thinking it was my cell phone service, I simply called back and was able to get connected to a gentleman who picked up the phone. I made a quick comment about trying to call a second ago, and experiencing some trouble due to my suspected cell phone service, and asked about Christmas time. Before answering my question, he went into a tirade about how I had been calling his wife, and calling the establishment over and over, clearly trying to "tell me off". When I attempted to politely tell him that he had the wrong person on the phone, he told me I was lying and said it is the same number that called yesterday, and even earlier than that (again, not true). After I let him vent his frustrations towards an innocent party, he asked for the dates I was looking for, LIKE I WOULD EVER WANT TO STAY THERE AFTER GETTING THE LECTURE SOMEONE ELSE DESERVED. My review will not help with the quality of the cabins, rentals, or how accommodating this place might be simply because I will never find myself visiting while in Pagosa. However, I can say that after the conversation I had with this gentleman this morning, I would highly recommend finding somewhere else to go if you do not want to be called a liar, and have a stranger attack you over something you did not do. Hope I am able to help someone avoid contact with the Sunset Ranch...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in the River Run cabin for three nights, the weekend of Sept 13th, 2020.|||| Overall, the cabin was very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and has a lovely patio area. ||||Each morning, we would take our hot drinks and sit outside, listening to the river while watching a wide variety of birds flitting through the trees. ||||The bathroom has shower and tub. The bedroom has a large dresser and we slept well on the comfortable bed.||||The small, albeit serviceable l kitchen had an electric range, fridge, pantry, and microwave oven There is also a very nice BBQ grill adjacent to the patio.||||The little electric fireplace kept us toasty warm in the evenings when temperatures cooled off. There is also a television with DVD player and several movies available to watch.||||The WiFi was adequate to check emails, however we spent so much time walking along the San Juan River, hiking and checking out the town that we rarely needed it.||||There are three very friendly dogs, a German Shepard, Golden Lab and cute little mutt who run around the property and my grandchildren loved playing with them. ||||The managing family was quite friendly and we felt well cared for. We inquired about their sanitizing practices and felt they went above and beyond in this area.||||We will definitely stay at Sunset Ranch again, in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Archuleta County, specifically the Pagosa...
