Review for TENT campsites only.
Reservations: Booked through the website and it was relatively painless. There is a comprehensive map on the website so review to help you decide
Checkin: Between 8 am - 4 pm (MST), go to the camp store at the marina. If you arrive late, they hang an envelope with your name and site number on the bulletin board at the campground entrance. You still need to check in at the store the next day to keep your reservation.
Location: There are two groups 4 of campsites. 3 are available to anyone and 1 in each group is ADA only. I stayed in F section. I recommend F over E. E campsites (except ADA) has 10-15 stairs. F is also a bit closer to the restrooms.
Parking: each campsite has 1 assigned parking spot. ADA sites have 2 spots. There are two first come first serve parking spots in F section. You can park extra cars in the marina and have your buddy pick you up too. The parking spots are NOT next to your campsite. A short walk or stair climb is needed to get back to your car. Since all cars are parked next to each other, they do not allow anyone to sleep in or on their vehicles. Van life or rooftop tents should reserve an rv spot
Campsite: sites are small but they do provide a post to hang a light, picnic table and fire ring. It is best to have 1 tent only (though you can fit two small tents if necessary.) The ground is typical desert sand/dirt/gravel mix. The maintenance crew is really great and thorough. After each reservation, I saw them raking the campsite. I think they also remove ashes from the campfire or perhaps the desert wind blows the rings clear.
Restroom: Clean and well stocked. For women's restrooms there are 3 sinks and 4 stalls. For men's restroom there are 2 stalls and 2 urinals. I saw heat and air conditioning though neither were on when I was there
Amenities: laundry room required a key card to enter and quarters to operate. The showers were free and hot. Same keycard grants access as well. There are 4 individual shower rooms but only two were working during my visit (2/18/22 to 2/21/22). The working showers were clean and maintained. Since the campsite is mostly rv, there usually wasn't a wait to use the showers
WiFi/cell service: zero cell service. They do provide a code so one device per site can have wifi. Additional codes can be purchased.
Final Thoughts and Tips: I would definitely come back again. Someone put in a lot of thought and effort into this campground. Even the landscaping was maintained. They put in small solar lights for the walkways though most were broken. My headlamp was definitely useful.
I appreciate no generators were allowed so I didn't have to hear lawnmower noise all day. If you have a group going, it would be super fun to reserve all the sites in one section.
I saw lots of rabbits every day and many birds as well. Mosquitoes and insects were a problem around dusk but was bug free in mornings...
Read moreThis is such a nice campground!! Super clean. Showers and laundry room, both clean. Tent and RV camping. Full hook-ups for RV's. They cleaned, blew out dust and raked every site after people left. Public bathroom super clean. No cell coverage, and Wi-fi for one device, but if you go there to unplug, then no worries. (I do suggest any confirmation emails be saved to your device or printed out.) I did find I would get some coverage when I was hiking around. Plenty of space between sites!!! Oh, and RV sites are paved and level. Bunnies and quail cruise around. ||||We did a late check in. The store was closed, so you just drive to the campground. There is a board when you arrive, and you just look for your envelope with info for your site. Then the next day get to the marina by noon. (Keep track of any time changes.) There are plenty of pull through sites. We have a smaller trailer and did a back in. Love, love, love the space between campsites.||||Easy walk down to the marina. If you plan on renting a boat or kayak from them, book in advance. There are also other companies that bring kayaks down and lead tours to Emerald Cave, and you can look those up and book in advance as well. (Again, have any info/details about rentals/confirmations downloaded to your phone or printed out.) We kayaked the 12 mile trek down Black Canyon starting at the Hoover Dam and ending at Willow Beach. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the Hoover Dam Lodge if you are planning that. ||||You do have to pay a National Park entrance fee upon arrival, or show your annual pass.||||A little pricier than some campgrounds, but totally worth the stay at this...
Read moreI was going to use the restroom this morning and there was a tool bag propping the door open. I went into a stall, and there was someone in the stall next to me. About a minute in, the gentleman next to me flushed and left. A couple minutes later, a leaf blower turns on and starts blowing dirt, dust, garbage and dead bugs up into the air in my stall, going directly into my eyes, mouth and nose. I was screaming for the person doing stop and banging the wall of the stall. After about 30 seconds of this, leaf blower turned off, and the person operating it left the restroom, leaving me with debris and dead bugs around my feet. I exited the stall a few moments later and the man with the leaf blower returned, blaming me for not acknowledging the tool bag at the door. Because everyone knows that a bag of tools with wrenches signals that someone is about to come in with a leaf blower to âcleanâ a bathroom, right?
I then went back to my campsite, grabbed a few things to go take a shower. When I got out of the shower, the camp host who I had spoken to before was outside. She had been nice to me up until that point. I let her know what had just happened to me, and she also blamed me for not acknowledging the tool bag. Most places use a mop and bucket to clean floors, or put a sign up that says âclosed for cleaningâ, not a bag with wrenches.
Iâm very disappointed with how I was treated, they acted incredibly unprofessional, and the entire situation could have been avoided had the man with the leaf blower just asked if anyone was present before he turned on the...
