Travelers Inn — Hotel in Four Oaks

"Average" by standards perhaps in this area - remember the continuum of excellence varies widely on the state, country & region of the World you are in: With that said, I came upon this little out-of-the-way town because of their bulletin board on I-95 North($34.99) - they are right off an exit - and realizing I had already driven over 150 miles further than expected and that the other hotel I was looking for was Another 50 miles away...it was getting later and near dark! The gracious little red-haired country woman named "Charlotte" who checked me in was as sweet as butter and put my travel freezer pack in her little freezer when I realized the little room frig didn't have a little a freezer. The room was extremely basic for the most minimal standards. The coffee & a sweet sealed "Little Debbie" danish offered in the end entrance during the early morning, was nothing I partook of the next morning, but I managed with a room right next to the office. My total with taxes was nearly $40.00 which was more than enough to pay, No matter for all the extensive info they required at check-in! I managed and you may as well if you find yourself in this area of Four Oaks, North Carolina on I-95 North and just need a quick overnight stop & are not fussy about tiny accomodations that are held together with a series of surge bar cords and bungy ties to hold the little frig on top of a teedering dresser. Just bring one bag in and out & stay near the office - the area seems more than a bit dicey. I did get a Non Smoking room that smelled fairly good in general. NO food or restaurants are nearby & travel into Town is about 6 miles each way, but they do have a Dollar Tree in town and many other shoppoing centers, businesses,...

I went to this hotel lastnight and tried to get a room it was raining pretty bad and I live in lumberton. I did not want to take that drive so I decided to get a cheap hotel for the night, I called in advance to see if any rooms were available I was told there were a few open, once I got there the man (older white man) asked for my ID he took my ID to the back and looked at something on the wall then came back to the computer and typed something in handed me my ID back and told me he was not allowed to rent a room to me I have probably been to this hotel maybe twice never had a problem so I was very confused on why he couldn’t rent a room to me and when I asked him why he said he didn’t know but my name was popping up in the system as do not rent to, so I called the hotel this afternoon and explained the situation I just wanted a better understanding on why they were not allowed to rent a room to ME and the young man that I was talking to told me that if I was 25 miles within the hotel he could not rent to me but I am abt 35 miles from the hotel (Fayetteville address) and he looked my name up in the system and he said nothing came back under my name meaning I could have gotten a room last night but because I was Black the guy that was there last night did not want to rent a room to me that definitely hurt my feelings and the fact that I cannot drive in rain that well I had to, only because of ignorance please be careful of where you go in Johnston county because this happens more than a little bit I am actually very upset because I have personally never had a experience with racism...

We were made to feel comfortable; the Lady running the front desk was extremely nice; talking with us ; showing where to do laundry; after so many rude people from 2 OTHER motels we had stayed at ; this was a blessing. In life you never know what a person is going through and the people here have been wonderful. I've seen the lady a few times and always waves and a smile for us. The gentleman' morning time was just as good speaking to my husband and working with us to wait on husbands pay at 1pm. When the OTHER two IF not paid by 11am OUT you go stuff and ALL. Really NOT caring about PEOPLE! IF you have a business and CAN help/work with a person do IT; At least these people care ! IF a person doesn't do as they tell someone; for payment YES OUT they GO?; BUT IF you stayed two weeks paying always WHY?! ? Why make them leave sitting outside UNTIL payments given MAYBE an hour later! Those only care about money not a person OR situation and those will NEVER get our money again. SO THIS establishment get top rating from my family for that AND the kindness and care they SHOW! THANK you...
