Stayed 1 night in a 31' class C. Close to i95 at exit 90. Got there after close and a faded sign at office said its $29 a night, fill out envelope w credit card info and drop in slot. No envelopes. No slot. No way Im just writing down my credit info. Call to office not answered. Sign also said consult map and pick a site. No copies of map to take, just a faded torn paper one behind glass with colors that were not defined.||||Ok, so the place is tiny and really run down. We drive around in circles a while in the dark looking for a site. Nothing is clearly marked. Road is rough w potholes. Couple of areas that might be sites are very uneven and dirty. Whole place is full of really run down permanent trailers, laundry hanging, accumulated debris and garbage, junky cars, etc. Not one nice looking rig is on site really. Creepy run down strip motel on site too. No trees, no "resort" facilities... its basically just an old hilly parking lot. My wife wanted to leave and kids were scared of the place but I was tired and figured it was only for the night and we would leave early.||||Finally settle on one site that is mostly gravel, has a number (49 i think it was), sewer and electic hookups. Backs up to a fence and near a run down house. Not very even, but its only one night. Didnt see a cable hookup or water. Again... only a night, so I back in and plug in electric and we go to sleep. Dont even bother w the slides or sewer or anything.||||Loud rumbling trains going by all night but neighbors were quiet.||||Up at 7am and ready to hit the road. Go to office to pay but still closed. Phone just rings and rings. No emergency number. No one up or walking around. Sign on office says they open at 9, which is late for an rv park but we decide to stick around and wait for someone. 8am, still eerie there is not one person walking around in the whole place. At 8:30 decide to make some breakfast and some more coffee while we wait. ||||At 8:50 we get loud banging on our door. Open it to a nasty heavy set woman in a neon yellow Tshirt screaming at me that I need to come to the office right this minute. Says I am not in a spot for overnight guests, this is an overflow spot she uses for her own RV. I mention that the office doesnt open til 9 and we are ready to go just waiting for it to open. She rolls her eyes, still sooo angry yelling at me I need to follow her right now. Ok, tell her I will be right over to the office in a few minutes and she storms off.||||I finish my coffee, unplug the electric and drive over to the office. Locked. No lady. Two guys sitting in golf carts in neon yellow Tshirts there watching me, one lumbers over and unlocks the door and goes in. Office is a total mess. Messy stacks of papers and junk mail everywhere, old dinty moore stew packages for sale w some faded odds and ends here and there and a desk. Starts clicky clacking on computer for a few minutes as I am holding my $29. Says hes the owner and the cranky lady is his wife. I tell him I want to just pay and get going. Tells me its not $29 anymore, the price went up. I mention the sign out front and he says well, thats an old sign, and makes me show him what sign I mean. When we walk back in he agrees to take the posted price, apologizes that his wife is sick and he was trying to get coffee made but wanted to make sure I knew I had to pay. Says he cant give me a receipt though. Whatever. Off we go. ||||Nothing of interest really around the place. Gas station in the wrong direction. There is a difficult blind turn to get back to the highway. 8 miles further north on i95 at exit 98 there is a really nice looking rv park that was clean, active and much more reputable looking. Wish we would have driven just a few more miles.||||How this place has the nerve to call itself an RV Resort is beyond me. I know people have to make a living, but how about putting some money into the business and facilities instead of that shiny new pickup w custom plates and buying golf carts for an area you can walk from one end to the other in two minutes. Do not understand the Good Sam ratings...
Read moreI have stayed here 6 times in the last 3 years. It is a small family run camp ground with very good prices. You need to call to reserve your site to get the best price. This is a small family run cramp ground. There are always improvements being made. This started as a trailer park several years ago and the current owner has been changing over to a camp ground. There are a lot of campers here for extended stays, visiting family or temporary job assignments. This is typical of most campgrounds. If you are looking for a place with a pool or hot tub then there are other campgrounds near by. But if you need an inexpensive spot to park and hook up for a few days or more than this is your place. Plenty to do and see in the area. Again this is a family run business and the owner works a full time job so you need to be patient. If you expect someone to be at you beck and call go some where else. The owner will help you asap. When I checked in and setup my TW cable DTA box did not work (my fault). I sent him a message because it was getting late and it was not a big deal. He showed up with TW support on the phone in a few minutes. Your camping what is your hurry? Yes there is a train. But I like trains so it is not a problem. Plus there are not any crossings real close so unless there is something on the track you won't hear the whistle. I have stayed at camp grounds close to highways that made more noise than this train track. This campground is right on hwy 301. This is perfect for the bicyclist traveling north or south. With a great bicycle shop (All Out Bikes) a few miles down the road (right off 301). The tent area is an open spot with a picnic table and fire pit. Bottom line? I will be back next spring to see what is new and enjoy a...
Read moreI actually stayed here in November 2016 but am just getting around to writing a review now.
I stayed here for just one night and was glad that was all. I'm not a sissy or a 'fraidy cat. I have traveled alone all over the world, but I have to say, as a woman traveling alone, it is the only place I ever felt like I needed to lock my trailer door when I was taking my dog for a walk even within view of my trailer.
There aren't a lot of actual camping spots, most are occupied by full timers in both RVs and mobile homes. If people complain about their rigs being too old to get into some parks, this is place where they do not turn anyone away.
It did make me feel better that a really nice RV was parked next to me in the overnight spots.
I want to make it clear, I didn't actually encounter any problems, it was just a feeling.
I also stayed mostly to the well lighted, large, grassy area in front of the motel when walking my dog.
They do have cable, but the owner didn't want to give me a box because I was leaving in the morning and he said their office wouldn't be open for me to return it. I said that was okay with me, but it would seem that if you aren't getting full amenities you shouldn't pay full price.
In any event, it was just a place to pull in and stay for the night and if I were going through the area again I understand there are other, nicer places nearby so I'd pick one of those if I go back...
