The actual villa rooms & pools were very nice & clean. But the reason I am giving them 1 star only is because we went to their resort for a weekend away for my sister's bachelorette getaway. We called 1 month prior to booking (which was 2 months prior to our stay) & then called again once we booked the villa to specifically ask questions regarding decorating the pool area, being able to use our own speaker for music & use floaties that we purchased that went with our bachelorette theme. The 2 times we called they stated YES to all of our questions, stated to bring whatever we wanted & they just wanted us to have a great time. When we arrived we had multiple boxes, a cart with wheels, cooler & several snacks/beverages on us that we HAD to walk through the main area/front desk with towards the pool area, at that time NO ONE mentioned or asked about what we were doing or why we had that stuff... So we go to the adults only pool area & set up our stuff for over 2 hours in the scorching heat while MULTIPLE employees came out to our area to take pics & videos of our décor & praise how beautiful everything was! None of them EVER mentioned that we could NOT do this... Once our bride/my sister was in the parking lot ready to be surprised the head of security came out to us with 2 extra security guards (mind you, it was myself & 3 other women only) stating that we could NOT set that up there & that we could not do that. I explained to her we called several times to confirm this if not we wouldn't have stayed at their resort. She apologized but offered NO RESOLUTION or empathy after all the work we put in & money we spent at their resort & for all of our decor except to move to another area. When I asked her why, she stated it was a liability & she needed to think of the people that own condos there not rent & that we were ‘going to be’ too loud, dance & cause other guests to feel uncomfortable, we all felt very STEREOTYPED against. At this time we had NOT played any music or made too much noise .. & the few guests that were in the pool area were praising us for our hard work & complementing how beautiful everything was. No one has ever said that to me in the past so we were feeling very upset. Not only were we feeling upset but were definitely stereotyped…. we were exhausted, sweating & just felt defeated (with our bride currently in the parking lot) & a lot of the excitement was tarnished. We asked to speak with the main manager, at first she refused stating he would only tell us the same thing but when we wouldn’t stop asking for him, she reluctantly got him to come to us. He offered us $100 credit towards our room which was okay but we didn’t want the $, we wanted to do what they stated we could before booking. We eventually moved to the other area reluctantly which made our beautiful/expensive balloon arch completely pop/break after spending hours the night before to make. So my suggestion is for this resort to RE-TRAIN their entire staff & make sure they give the correct information when guests call, it’s NOT okay to lie or give false info to ANY GUESTS whether renting or owned just to get someone through your doors. It was very disappointing & caused the beginning of our bachelorette getaway to be horrible, causing some girls to cry & feel bad & an angry bride to top it all off that had to wait almost 2 hours while we moved everything after completely finishing the original set up. It was just...
Read moreWe have been staying at MVC properties since 2014, and this is our third MVC property this year. I am also almost at gold status with Marriott for the year. |Check-in|We arrived at 3:30, knowing the history of this resort on a Sunday. It was 4:40 when I called, asking why I hadn't received a text yet. The response was that we had people check out late. It's almost 5 p.m. I am not sure I can help with that. Checkout time is 10 a.m. This was a bad start, considering they wanted me to go on a sales pitch since I am not an MVC owner. We then denied the sales tour for $250. For the Florida and other resorts, we rent on RedWeek. Since we live in NJ, we paid cash for this NJ resort. |Room|We have been in this room for four nights. The main TV has been having problems daily, and the workers have even told us that it is a common problem at this property. The shower gel fell off the wall, and I was lucky it didn't hit anyone in the foot. The girls that came said it happens constantly as they are held up by a sticker in the shower. These are minor issues but seem to be expected with the resort. The worst one was the green head flies. They were all over. The room, you can tell, has been used and is functional, but it needs to be taken care of. |Pool|The pool at this resort was nice but was packed with people. Both the adult pool and kids' pool area were very busy. My kids are 11 and 14 and didn't do any of the activities as nothing was for that age, but they played a few outside games. We went here in 2021 and 2022 and were used to it being pretty quiet. I guess the families are back, as it was packed. |Staff|The maintenance and housekeeping staff that we encountered were nice and tried to help. However, they all seemed frustrated because it was an ongoing issue. |Food|We did not eat at the restaurant on the property, but my kids did enjoy making smores at night. There is a charge for this.|Location|If you like AC, it is about a 20-minute drive. You can also get to New Jersey beaches in about 20 minutes. ||We are big fans of MVC Ocean Pointe, and they need to improve a lot to get anywhere...
Read moreMy parents live in Monmouth County, and we will leave the kids with the grandparents for a night to ease some of the overcrowding in the house. So, with that in mind, we booked a 2 bedroom villa at the Fairway Villas just for one night, which was the only room type available. Sadly, I can't help but feeling a little cheated, and this is not a complaint about the room itself or the front desk staff.. The villa itself has lots of space, is super clean, and has lots of great amenities, like a full sized range, is well-stocked with plates and silverware, premium bedding, and the screened in porch would be amazing in the summer months.
The source of my disappointment is that when I booked through Marriott's website, the villa listed spray jet tubs among its in-room amenities. My wife and I thought it was worth driving the extra hour to get down here for spray jets, which would be especially welcome after a long, stressful week at work. I have learned that although they are listed on the website as a room amenity, the rooms have been renovated, and the spray jet tubs were removed, which for us was a total bummer, because that was the amenity that tipped the decision in favor of staying here. Simply put, we would not have stayed here if the spray jet tub amenity wasn't listed, so it was really disappointing to find out after the fact. The space itself and the front desk staff are great, but we are unhappy that a key amenity that we had been expecting was not here. Hopefully, the hotel updates its in-room amenity list to better manage the expectation of...
