Sunrise Resort & Event Center — Hotel in Garden City

This is our 2nd year hosting our company retreat at the Sunrise Resort, and we're hooked on this place. Coming back felt like coming home for our office after our wonderful experience last year. Mark, Kylie and Patrick were so generous and kind in helping us reserve the resort and get everything set up. Kylie was so communicative and detailed, and even helped with important things like scheduling a restaurant to cater lunch or asking our preference on having the doors locked or open. They had all the pool keys ready for us on the fridge which was a small gesture but showed their attention to detail. As always the place is so clean and gorgeous. We especially love the boat room with it's large windows that overlook the lake. Sam at the front desk was so great about getting the conference room ready for us and they had it all set up exactly to our needs including a podium, microphone and the chairs we preferred. They are so good about caring about the details which means the world to us. As an organization that cares deeply about being excellent in the details, we're so grateful to have found a space with staff who show the same care and make us feel like family. I would highly recommend Sunrise Resort and their staff to anyone who is looking for the perfect company retreat, family getaway, large gathering or cozy couple retreat. The rooms were fine, the service was poor.

We sprung for the lighthouse suite for one evening and a condo for the next and stayed for two nights. Both rooms were clean, and the lighthouse suite in particular was a lot of fun.

But the service was disappointing. We needed to adjust our reservation, which with any other host would have been a breeze. I reached out several days in advance, but calls and emails to the office went unanswered for days. The only way I ever got a response was by reaching out over Facebook.

When we arrived, there was no offer to help with bags. Nobody was in the office 99% of the time. The lighthouse suite had cleaning guidelines that included that guests must take out the trash to the dumpsters themselves (are you serious? That is the most basic service a host can offer) There was no one to return our room keys to at checkout, because there was nobody around. The whole experience was unprofessional.

Perhaps the poor service was due to visiting in the off-season, but I wouldn't gamble on this resort again with so many other...

We were so happy with our stay at Sunrise Resort - it was everything we needed in one spot and fit our group of 30 perfectly and comfortably. Everyone was happy with their own individual rooms and spaces, and we used and enjoyed the common areas. The central kitchen was perfect for all three meals, and the Moose Hollow Conference Room was a great space for us to meet in.

The staff was wonderful; super responsive and kind, especially on the day we all arrived. They accomodated all our needs and requests and got us quickly settled in, and I really appreciated all of their help.
