Read moreLove Bear Lake, hate the Rendezvous Beach Bear Lake State Park Campsite!
The campsite is completely ridiculous. We reserved a site on ReserveAmerica where they show a picture of the site that looks nice and fairly spaced out according to the online map. Cost us $16 for the site and $8 for on online reservation fee (whatever that is). When we arrived we were stunned to find our camp table literally two feet away from the next campsite's table and about 5 feet away from another. Our "fire pits" for these three campsites were no more than 15 feet away from each other.
This is how the whole campground seemed to be laid out unless you were in an RV spot. My first thought, not meaning to be disrespectful, was that we were in a refugee camp and not a campground. Neighboring tents were also only 10 or so feet away and neighbors were playing loud music and drinking. We complained and said we wanted to cancel since it was completely unacceptable. The only way to cancel was online and the nice camp host let us use her computer to do it. However, apparently if you cancel you "forfeit" $13 and then there is a "cancellation fee." By the time I went to enter my cancellation they wanted to charge me $5 to cancel!!! Are you kidding me? DO NOT CAMP AT BEAR LAKE STATE PARK...
Read moreThis is a wonderful spot to enjoy Bearlake; however there are a few problems. Most of the problems have to do with poor management. #1 I have been to this state park 4 times this summer and every time the admittance staff were rude and short with me and my family. It appears they lack proper social skills at welcoming guests to their park. #2 The restrooms near the boat rentals, I think this might be the only restrooms, are always in very poor shape. There is sand and toilet paper mashed into the floor and the stench reminds me of an open hole toilet even though they are fully plumbed. It appears they only get cleaned a few times a week. #3 The parking arrangements are pittiful. Again, the admittance staff don't do a very good job at tracking the number of cars entering and exiting the park. They often over sell the parking lot leaving patrons who paid to enter the park without a space to park their cars. #4 (Probably the most grievious) The only garbage cans available are in the restrooms. Due to a lack of trash recepticals, trash is often blowing around the ground and into the lake. This is a Travisty! The park is really nice and the sand is wonderful, I only wish someone with some management skills would...
