The property is located in Cooks, Mi. It is a great spot to stop for few nights on your trip across the upper peninsula. It was a 7 night stay for us on our trip around Lake Michigan. The building is right across from Lake Michigan. You cross the street and you can enjoy a small beach with a picnic table and a fire pit. The road is a main one, so it can be a bit noisy at times, but nothing that is too annoying. The rooms are well sound proof and we were never bothered by the traffic. Since we were staying for a week, we opted for a family suite. We had a large dining room, full kitchen, a roomy bathroom, and a large bedroom with two queen beds. Traveling in the age of COVID can be stressful. We felt very comfortable staying at the resort. The owners were very friendly and extremely attentive to cleanliness. All common surfaces outside were cleaned throughout the day. The suite was spotless. They take extra time after each guest cleaning and disinfecting the rooms. They actually wash all of the pillows, pads, comforters, etc. whereas many places just wash the sheets. We stayed at multiple properties on our way around the lake, and this was by far the cleanest one. The resort is perfectly positioned to do day trips to all of the great surrounding parks and towns. Marquette, the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Seney National Wildlife Refuge are all about an hour drive. Fayette Historic State Park and Indian Lake State Park are about 20 minute drive. The Mackinac Island is about hour and a half. There is a restaurant next door to the motel and the food is good. We particularly enjoyed Sherry's Port Bar by the Fayette Historic State Park. Amazing whitefish. The Dock at Bay Ridge RV Park has a really nice outside patio overlooking the lake and great food. The property has a gas grill for all the guests to use. It was very clean and we used it couple of times. It is great to be able to eat outside overlooking the lake. We used the fire pit by the beach couple of nights. Awesome to have a fire next to the lake. Just bring your mosquito spray. We will visit again, since one week was not enough to do all the hiking and biking we...
Read moreI absolutely loved the Moose Resort in Cooks Michigan and my stay. Katie and her husband were so friendly and accommodating. Katie working with me on my reservation took a lot of time with me, she's a very nice person and they do a great job. The grounds are impeccably kept. There are chairs and a table outside every room. There are different sets of chairs, a picnic table and a fire pit in the common area. Their beach was so well maintained it was raked. There were also chairs and tables on the beach for the guests. The resort along with the beach is very dog friendly. The view on the beach was absolutely stunning looking at lake Michigan on this pristine clean Beach and the sunset was wonderful! Highly recommend the Moose Resort. I already have made a reservation to return for another stay! The room was impeccably clean, modernized, there was a large mini fridge, microwave, air conditioning, coffee pot and coffee was provided, and the toiletries were so nice and high-end of course I took them home with me. The TV and the internet works great. The internet works so well I was able to do homework. We stayed in the Sandy Shores suite. The king size bed was very comfortable. Everything was in working order. There is a restaurant next door that serves breakfast and lunch. In a Dollar general that is walking distance from the resort. I honestly can't wait to go back. They also offer First Responders, military, and Frontline workers discount I really appreciated that,...
Read moreI have stayed here twice now, the first time the motel had different owners. I'm raising my rating from 4 to 5 stars due to the improvements the new owners have made. We had both a family suite and double room and both rooms were incredibly clean, smelled pleasant and were well cared for. The rooms have quiet window air conditioning. Traffic noise is minimal at night, and I say this as a very light sleeper. The kitchen suite was well-stocked with everything we needed from pots, pans and plates/utensils to foil, dish soap and kitchen towels. The foam beds were comfortable. Outside, they provide a gas grill complete with utensils, and a large bin of toys for the little ones,--sand toys, bubbles, balls, and chalk. A hose is located on the side of the building to rinse the sand off your feet. Crossing the highway to the beach was not difficult and once you get there, you can't hear the road traffic. The beach is natural and beautiful. The bay is very shallow for a long way out. Manistique, with its lakeside boardwalk is about 10 minutes away, Pictured Rocks is about an hour away, Tahquamenon Upper Falls about 2 hours. We will definitely...
