Garner Inn & Suites — Hotel in Garner

My family stayed at the Garner Inn & Suites for an extended stay, due to a death in the family. |Everyone at the hotel were so wonderful and accommodating to our needs. |The hotel is super clean! You can tell that is important to them. |There is a nice breakfast area, that we we were welcome to use at any time. There are also several smaller sitting areas that are welcoming. |Although the hotel does not have an elevator to the 2nd floor, that was not a problem, as the checkin person helped us with bags. |The rooms in the back of the hotel are very quiet. Ones in the front and corners face the highways, so there is road noise there, if you open the windows. |We had a king suite (and several smaller rooms), but the suite served as an excellent gathering place when we wanted a little more privacy. |As a smaller, non-chain hotel, they should not be...

Stayed in room 206... NO ELEVATOR!.. CHECK IN was fine ... man at desk was pleasant... CHECK OUT lady made the process feel rushed and she didn't care. We paid extra and up front to check out at 2pm on Booking.com... got confirmation of this and was told they knew nothing of this... check in man did put in a note concerning this... we left at 1130.. breakfast was frozen omelets, sausage links and potatoes. Everything was OK... not the best ... The shower curtain was stained.. looked as if someone had dyed their hair previously... towels were stained and top bed sheet had a stain... for $189 in Garner Iowa for one night... drive to the interstate, 12 miles up the road and stay 2 nights for the same price... clean sheets towels and no stained shower curtain. Atmosphere was unwelcoming ... and trust me... they were NOT busy on Friday...

New owner has a bit to learn about customer service. And wearing a hat inside AND backwards, disrepwctful and tacky!Made reservations in January for duesy days. Got there and couldn't find res. Offered us a room in forest city 15 miles away from garner. Refused. Finally found our reservations but put us in a king room when we had reservations for a double queen as we had 3 adults. Come to find out the new owner had switched computer software and moved guests to other rooms. !!!! Receptionist was great and discovered that the folks checking in behind us had been put in our double queen and we had been put in their king room. We finally got switched but good grief!!! We have stayed at the garner Inn for years and years and believe me Deb and Roger would never have had this debocaal . Will book in clear lake...
