The Extended Stay is nestled in a quiet, low-key neighborhood. Since I don’t drive, I initially worried the location might not be walkable. At first glance, it may seem that way, but being just off I-270, it’s not as inconvenient as I feared. I was pleasantly surprised to find the RideOn 83 bus stop right outside the hotel, offering frequent service to nearby shopping centers. Even without the bus, the shopping centers are just a 27-minute walk away, which isn’t bad either. The rates at the hotel were very competitive, and I really appreciated the kitchenette—it made the room feel like a small apartment. However, the furniture in our room was mismatched, and the overall cleanliness left something to be desired. It seemed like a deep cleaning hadn’t been done in quite some time. While the bed appeared clean, the cupboards could definitely use a good wipe-down. The hotel offers a laundry room, which we found very convenient. The washers and dryers worked well, and you can even pay with a credit or debit card. There are two vending machines downstairs, but unfortunately, the beverage machine was out of service during our stay, which was disappointing given its diverse drink selection. During our stay, my husband and I wanted to use the kitchenette, so we requested a “Practical Comforts Package” from the front desk. This package includes essentials like plates, bowls, cups, silverware, and dishcloths, as well as optional items like pans, a spatula, colander, cutting board, coffee maker, toaster, and dish drying rack. While the staff was friendly and courteous, the receptionist had difficulty assembling our request. Additionally, the dishwashing liquid provided was just 0.2 fluid ounces—such a small amount that it was practically useless. Overall, while there were a few shortcomings, the hotel had its conveniences and the staff made an effort to be helpful. I would definitely return to this hotel and from now on will keep Extended Stays on my radar when looking for lodging.

When we arrived the A/c didn’t work. We had to have the girls from the front desk come to our room multiple times to fix it (after driving 13 hours from Florida to get here.) The girls at the front desk in the evening were very nice and helpful making sure the issue was resolved. In the morning, after 8am the front doors were still locked but because I wasn’t expecting them to be locked I tried pulling the door open first, it didn’t work so I used the key. When we walked in the GM at the front desk in the morning didn’t greet us in any way, just rudely said “You need to use your key.” Obviously, I already got in using the key but good morning to you too. Later that morning she came banging on our door stating we needed to be quiet. We were just talking and we were also nowhere near the designated “quiet hours” posted. We said okay and tried to shut the door and she PUSHED OUR DOOR OPEN telling us we don’t get to close the door in her face and proceeded to argue with a paying customer for no reason. The quiet hours are clearly posted and we were not being loud anyway. She then asked us to leave and refused to provide our correct check out information. She insisted we will be charged for the full time we were booked even though she banged on our door and aggressively pushed it open stating she’s the general manager so she can do what she wants, although I don’t believe she was any type of management but I took the card for the GM and if she really is, Sawannah Thomas is the most disgusting unprofessional I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. How do you bring confrontation to my door which makes me feel like I need to leave then tell me you’re refusing to check me out or provide proof of my correct checkout time. I’ve included their posted quiet hours for reference. This was by FAR my worst experience in a hotel.

I hate writing bad reviews but I just couldn't let this go . I'm really having a hard time on this one. The little bit of good thing I had to say about this hotel has definitely changed as they changing the little bit of things that made you over look all of the short coming of the hotel. Now you have a over price building and people need to start looking elsewhere. You are paying 4 star prices for a 2 star hotel. The only plus is the staff they are great people. They changed the front desk hours so you will not be able to check in after 10 pm . If you stay a extended period of time house keeping is like every 10 days so before if want fresh linens you had to bring your stuff to the front desk for exchange but now they are charging a fee. The breakfast was a granola bar and coffee and then they add instant cereal packages but now there will no longer be doing that. The only grace for me was the kitchen in the rooms which you use to be able to get cookware and dinnerware at the desk, which I think they should offer for the price you pay at the hotel but now they are charging for the kitchenware and I'm not sure if that is to use but the prices are definitely to high to pay to use and give back. So I advise you to bring your own cookware if you do decide to stay. There is a lot of yelling in the hallway, fighting going on time to time. Police have been here on a few occasions. Beer bottles left in the stairwell and in the parking lot as well . I just hope if you do stay your experience is better than mines . Good luck!

Absolutely awful! The "smoke-free" rooms are frequently full of smoke--drifting in from the vents and hallways, in violation of Maryland ordinances. A towel under the door doesn't help. The walls are so thin that you can hear the details of your neighbor's nocturnal activities...or just their footsteps. I was harassed several times by the staff due to errors in their billing records--which included being locking out of my room shortly after paying for more days. More than half the times I leave my room I have to get my keycard reactivated. I WAS BURGLED one of the few times I left the building. The walls have holes, some patched, some not. The smoke detectors are so antiqued that the fire department complains about them frequently going off. Once it misfired 3 times in 24 hours--twice when I was asleep. The maintenance is almost non-existent. My room's thermostat started out broken, and then the AC itself started loudly rattling, and then MORESO after the technician did his annual cleaning (plus he insulted me on the way out). When I swapped out my linen, the clean sheets had somebody's "stains". Getting hot water in the bathroom sink is like changing gears in an antique truck. The kitchen sink faucet sprays sideways onto the counter, as well as down. I've hurt my hand a few dozen times just turning it on due to it sticking. Pest control barely does anything, I've seen various insects, including cockroaches crawling about the areas they treat. The appliances are cut-rate, including a low-wattage microwave with a broken turntable, the stove that used 2 built-in hotplates that heat so unevenly that medium-low means that part of the burner cooks so hot that it ruins pans and utensils, and a college-grade refrigerator with packed with frost in one part and virtually no cooling in another part. Produce either becomes covered in ice or mold within a few days. The TVs are on their last legs, the screen dim and flickering, with dark patches. No streaming and just 1 premium channel that hasn't been premium since the 90s. Not all the electrical outlets work, and there are occasional surges. The washing machines and dryers overcharge. $4.25 per load, which often doesn't fully clean or dry. Or save 25 cents if you download their app, which doesn't work when the internet's down, as it sometimes is. A few of the staff are exceptional polite and helpful, a few others don't seem know/care what they're doing. Either way, expect the front desk to be vacant when you walk in the door. Overall, sometimes I feel like staying in a cardboard box would be a step up. I'd rate it zero...

I booked last minute on Expedia. Not a lot of choices in Germantown in my price range. I took what I could and was grateful I could find anything in Montgomery County. I am less grateful now. Now, I didn't smell this horrible smell that the reviews before me mentioned. But the number on the building is not the same as the number on the internet. The key cards only work sometimes. There is almost no water pressure. The shower only has a cloth shower curtain. Our curtains don't completely close. We're staying on the first floor, so people can see in. Their breakfast is just prewrapped muffins and coffee. No milk or juice. All of this would knock them down to three stars and I would just say "Well, I've stayed in worse." But then a woman who is like a second mother to me sent me a FedEx. I went up front early this morning and told the young woman that I was expecting a FedEx. She looked around, all panicky. And I told her it hadn't come yet. I was letting her know it would be coming. She wrote down my name and room number and I went away. Later, I went out for a smoke and I saw the FedEx truck pulling away. I finished my smoke and went to the front desk. I couldn't even see the guy who was working the desk because he was in a little cubby off to the side. And after I finally got his attention, he informed me that he had sent the package away. Moms had used my maiden name. Which is kind of on her. But the first name and the room number were the same and there was a note saying that I was waiting for a FedEx. So, it is kinda on the front desk guy, too. But what pissed me off was that he, very accusingly snapped, "well, why did she use the wrong name?" So, I told him all about my difficult divorce and she never liked my ex and how I plan to change my name but haven't gotten to it yet... No, I didn't! Because that's none of his business. I said that she was 70-some odd years old and she can do whatever the hell she wants. I called FedEx and they were wonderfully helpful and got my package to me as soon as possible. But it screwed up my timing for the day. Had to stay an extra night in...

This place has the most dysfunctional management ever , the manger Yessley is very rude and mean. A couple of weeks ago the room across from me flooded and water ran all into my room. There was nobody there with the proper skills to handle the situation. They call in a manager from Frederick to come help because the manger was on vacation, (which I understand). So the Frederick manger came and he was very understanding and extra polite . I used all of my personal tiles to stop the water from destroying my room, eventually we were able to stop the water from destroying our room and the Frederick manger told us that he would put a note on my account for me to be credited for some free nights for when the manger to come back from vacation. Time passes never get a call from the manger when she returned from vacation to do a follow-up. So I went down to pay the rent and the guy didn't know what to do, but he knew about the flooded room, they left about six loud fans outside of my room day and night. Would wake me up in the morning pulling up carpet and bringing in contractors to fix the room. Point blank, they promised me a lot of bullshit to keep me quite, then I talk to Yessely and she wouldn't even let me talk without cutting me off as if what I was telling her I just pulled it out my ass. She was so defensive when I tried to conduct a follow-up on what I had been told, that she was starting make me upset. Then I told her I wasn't lying, and I don't even know her to owe her a lie. She kept repeatedly telling me that I owe the hotel, she was heartless towards me. I asked why you being so aggressive with me , she said she wasn't, I told her I would write this up in the review and she just said so, so here it is. I've enjoyed my stay here for about 5-6 months, until I met the manger, she heartless and comes off like when you talk to her your trying to get over on her or something. I felt like everyone should know what to expect when you come to this location. I hope Extended Stay corporate...
