Family wedding….Fairfield was AMAZING! Picking a hotel for a wedding group or any group feels like a lot of responsibility and it is. Look no further! There was some confusion with a management change during the time when we picked the Fairfield as our “wedding hotel” due to usual transition of any business but with Clayton at the helm it was awesome! It was our daughter’s wedding and we planned to have the “thank you” brunch at the hotel the Sunday after the wedding. As the mother of the bride, being from out of town, I was apprehensive about many of the details. Every time I talked to Clayton, he was overwhelmingly positive and made me feel reassured, letting me know he would be there that morning to help. HE WAS! We planned our brunch in the conference room they have and it was the perfect size. We had burritos delivered from La Casita (I will review them also but highly recommend ) , had a Bloody Mary bar and a Mimosa bar. We started after the official hotel breakfast ended but our setup overlapped when the Fairfield breakfast ended and Clayton navigated both beautifully; helping us with whatever we needed while making sure the “regular “ breakfast went smoothly. We had a large group of people, we were always helped, never felt like we had to rush and any questions or requests were addressed. We booked a room for the newly weds and he had wine and glasses set up in there room when they got back from the reception..I had checked them in earlier so all they had to do was pick up the keys and greeting them was a bottle of wine, glasses a|AND a hand written note M||Ok, that was Clayton..he was awesome. ALSO, Daniel at the front desk has such a gentle and helpful demeanor that it made all of my and our guests interactions so pleasant! June also was so helpful, lighting the fire pit when requested and never made us feel like our requests were unreasonable and being clear about how to prop the door open, etc.|The breakfast lady..I apologize I don’t know her name ran to the store to get bananas because they were out! ||AND, I can’t say enough about the housekeeping staff. We had just come from a Courtyard Marriott in Denver that had a staff that was not at all of the sample caliber so by contrast, I noticed how the housekeeping staff was so thorough and also accommodating (a common theme here). With a wedding, having family, including kids and dogs makes everyone’s needs so varied. On one day, for my husband and I, it was. “Our room is a mess so don’t worry, but we just want clean towels. Of course, no problem.. trying to help pack up the bride and groom, needing some extra bags..,no problem.”||This was such an important occasion for our family and this hotel staff, one and all made it amazing. By the way, the location is convenient to Palmer Lake (wedding venue for us) and has some restaurants and stores nearby to make it easy to get supplies or meals and not far from “The Springs” for top notch restaurants, etc. the only thing to be aware of (which I was informed about when choosing this hotel) is that sometimes, Uber/Lyft can be unreliable but they provide alternative car services to when you wanted a ride.||As you hopefully can tell, this hotel and staff KILLED IT! We spent 5 nights here that were part of such an important life event for us and we were helped, cared for and, as mentioned before accommodated. If you need a place for a group and especially if you are having a wedding in Palmer Lake, I can’t recommend this...
Read moreBotched my reservation by selecting only one day instead of two. No effort to help me extend my reservation, just redirected me to search for available rooms online. Of course there were none so I went back downstairs to plead for help and was told there must not be rooms available. Before checking out I asked one more time and thankfully another employee found a way to keep us in our room one more night using a military discount which was 3times the original rate we were paying. Not looking for handouts but ouch! We were travelling due to a family emergency. I had so much going on that I also failed to consider we needed two beds that sec8bd night as my son was finally getting out of the hospital (we are stationed at Ft Bliss in TX and my son was hospitalized in CO). I totally owned this oversight as well but again was told they couldn't help as no double beds were available. So this left me or my son sleeping on the floor since my husband has back injuries from his 16 years of service. To top it all off, the card reader died just as we were leaving to get my son and of course I had forgotten the legal documents we needed inside the room. It took a lot of convincing before the young lady at the front desk believed us when we told her the key reader was dead as she kept on activating new cards and sending me back upstairs to keep trying. Hours later maintenance finally got the door open and at 11p that night my son and I made it back. We looked like a nightmare and had our hands full of bags when we got there. The front doors were locked "guest card access only" after a certain hour which seems great for safety. But not great when the front desk guy is just watching you and your sick son struggle to find our key, never once offering to help or validate that I was a guest there. I'm not going to play a race card here, nor will I assume it's because we probably looked like two carpetbaggers off the street after the most stressful 24 hours. Let's just say it made me feel devalued and unappreciated. And since one of us was going to sleep on the floor (that's right, no roll away bed either), I asked for extra blankets and pillows and was given one tiny, thin blanket and sad, flat little pillow. Sigh. The room was clean, the breakfast was free, and the young lady discounted our room slightly "for the inconvenience" of being locked out of our room well into the evening as we sat in the hallway desperately waiting to get in and grab those...
Read moreI recently stayed in your Fairfield Inn & Suites Colorado Springs North/Air Force Academy property and was somewhat disappointed with my stay. The day prior to my arrival I checked in electronically and requested early arrival. On the day of my stay, I received early notification that my room and my electronic key were available for my arrival. Because I received notification that my room was available, I departed Denver early so that I could check in, shower and prepare for an business luncheon and meeting.
When I arrived to the Fairfield Inn and requested check in, I was told that there were no rooms available. I informed the front desk that I received notification that my room was available. The personnel at the front desk, said the notification must have been a mistake and that I was incorrect in saying I received notification….almost implying that I was lying. I informed them that I was a Marriott lifetime platinum member and that I was very familiar with how the processed worked. They then said that it must have been a mistake with the Marriott application. They said a room might be available within the next hour but could not guarantee anything. I waited around in the lobby for an hour with no update so I departed to hotel.
I had to travel to another location (a colleague on the other side of town ), out of the way of my meeting, in order to shower and prepare for my meeting. As a result, I was a little late to my meeting as I planned my whole afternoon around my early arrival to the hotel….very disappointed.
Upon my return later that evening, approximately 7:30 PM, there were over well over 30 kids (which I believe were there for a hockey tournament) running around the lobby, halls, and parking lot until well after 10 PM. Having kids myself, I had no problem with the kids enjoying themselves, but at one point they were running up and down the halls knocking on doors (including mine), yelling, and breaking many of the light shades in the hall. I don’t expect the Marriott staff to control these kids, but I do think that something should have been said to the parents/chaperones to reign in the kids and provide more control….again, disappointed.
I have been a loyal member to Marriott for many years and I feel things could have been handled much differently. At this point, I am not sure I would return to this hotel, nor recommend this hotel to family,...
