I called at the last minute to reserve, the mangager was very friendly the rate was good and I know going down to Grand Isle that I should expect a fishing town and not a resort. When we drove up I got pretty scared. The cabins are very close together and there is one small sign which states the office is located in the back trailer. Hmmm- Okay, I say to myself this is not a resort town get over it and move on. The sign in the office window informed us that the manager had gone to the grocery store and would be back later. We drove around the island for a bit then headed back to check-in. The manager is very nice and seemed quite laid back about the checkin process. I braced myself as I entered the cabin, because the mop hanging over the edge of the porch does not help, and low and behold I was pleasantly surprised. The place was immaculatley clean and bigger than I expected. Okay, I start to relax. Two bedrooms, one double bed in each room, the beds were not comfortable at all but clean. A decent sized bathroom, but no towel bar for wet things but again very clean. The kitchen and living area are connected. The kitchen was very clean as well and had enough utensils for our purposes for one night but certainly not enough to cook a big meal. We also had to come up with something to use for hotpads to pull things out of the oven. There are three chairs in the kitchen area, held together with tape, which was fine for us but the website states the cabins accomodate 6. I think that would be a stretch. A third twin bed was in the living area which we used as a sofa. There is a picnic table outside on the concrete area underneath the cabin. Parking is tight. The cabin behind us and beside us had groups of 20 something year olds which were extremely noisy, kept us up most the night, and had several cars. We could not have had another vehicle parked near our cabin because the cabin behind us had 5 cars. ||Would we stay here again? Maybe for one night but cetainly not for a few nights and I would bring ear plugs to...
Read moreWe wanted to go somewhere for our tenth anniversary that wasn't too expensive or to far away from home. This place fit the bill and for the price I was a little nervous that it might be dirty, but it wasn't at all! I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and tidy our cabin was (#5). It was also more spacious than I was imagining, though it isn't large, our family of 4 fit in nicely and we could have squeezed one more person in, if we had to. It was fairly well stocked with pans, silverware, plates, cups, and bowls, as well as a full stove/oven and refrigerator, and included a small microwave. The public beach was really close (less than 1000ft) and was mostly clean! There was a convenient hose under the cabin (because everything here is on stilts) for washing off beach sand before entering the cabin. The owners were nice and were actually still trying to finish up repairs (from damage from hurricane Ida) on a couple cabins while we were there. They gave us good advise about places to go and things to do, as many things were still shutdown due to hurricane Ida damage. The good news is that if you happen to forget to bring something, the local stores usually have diverse supplies and you are likely to find what you need. I was even able to find a couple gluten free surprises at Sureway! Just be aware that some places have different hours than those on Maps, so you may need to check if a place is open or not. We are so glad we came here and we were all happy with...
Read moreHad a WONDERFUL experience. We stayed in cabin #1. Mrs. Bonnie was extremely helpful before our trip and very nice in person. Cabin was very clean. Very comfortable. Beds slept well. We had 4 adults and 1 child. Plenty of room. Cabin was furnished with basic pots and pans, dishes, silverware, cups, spatulas and other cooking utensils. Cabin was within 100 yards of a golf cart crossing, #4. We walked to the beach every day. Not a problem at all. I've stayed in condos that I had to walk farther to the beach. Had a hose underneath the cabin for rinsing off beach items. Light and receptacle to plug in your boat and charge batteries. There was a fish cleaning station behind all the Cabins with 2 sinks a nice table and a hose for cleaning and washing your fish. We definitely had a FANTASTIC experience. Will definitely stay there next time I...
