My husband and I just stayed here for an anniversary vacation and were extremely disappointed. The trouble started when two weeks prior to our trip we received a call stating that they had overbooked for the last night of our stay and would have to switch rooms (we booked a king suite) for just that last night or for our whole stay. We grudgingly settled to be moved to a queen room for the last night of our stay unless a cancelation allowed us to keep the King suite we originally booked. Luckily such a cancelation did occur and we didn't have to change rooms, only to discover on our way home that we were charged for BOTH rooms for the last night! Their booking system is an utter joke. While we were there, the room we had happened to be right over the outdoor pool filtration system which resulted in a constant and annoying humming sound permeating the room and making it very difficult for my husband to sleep. This proximity to the pump probably also explains the reason that the room reeked of chlorine. Seriously, it smelled like walking into an indoor public pool, not a private hotel room. Very offputting. Also, one day while we were in our room we were randomly interrupted by a maintenance man needing access to our balcony to do some work on a pipe that is on the balcony. Being that we were on a 1st floor room, he could have easily accessed this from OUTSIDE our room without interrupting us. They never even called the room or our phones to alert us of the intrusion. Oh, and the 1st floor rooms are inaccessible without going up or down stairs, so if your luggage is either heavy or does not roll, you'd better be ready to lug it both up and down a flight of stairs. Several games the their pathetic "game room" were either completely out of order or did not work properly at all. The open times for the Bromfeld's Dining room are not clearly posted anywhere we could see, so when we went down to presumably get breakfast at 7am one morning, being early risers, we were shocked to find that they don't open for breakfast until 8am! This threw off our schedule for the day quite a bit as there is very little locally to choose from as far as breakfast goes. Not that their breakfast buffet was great, that is. The food was quite bland except for the sausage, and either overcooked or grossly undercooked. The majority of the food was tough or rubbery from sitting in the warmers, even when "fresh" at 8am when we were literally the first people there. And the biscuits were burnt on the outside but still raw wet dough on the inside. When we showed this to the hostess she audibly gasped and went to show the cook, but they never came back to check the rest of the biscuits or swap them out in the nearly 45 minutes we were there. Later that same day we found ourselves back at the hotel around 3, having not had lunch looking to go to the Dining room for lunch only to find it closed AGAIN because apparently they only open from 11am-2pm for lunch then close again until 5pm when they open for dinner. So we had to go to Boxer's pub which has a very limited menu of bar food. In the evenings we went to Boxers for a night cap only to discover it overrun with kids... in the BAR! Despite the signs clearly posted that children were not to be allowed in the bar after 10pm, there were still at least a half dozen running around and making a nuisance in this small hotel bar. Finally, their paved walking paths are rather overgrown, making one have to duck to avoid walking into encroaching branches, so you can't safely go for a walk after dark, since most of the paths are not...
Read moreI am local and usually enjoy going to Mohican Conference Center for dinner and drinks. I have had family dinners at Bromfield’s Table and introduced many friends to Boxer’s Lounge and dining on the patio. Last night I was excited to share with my friends from Akron while they were here for a visit. It was horrible! Upon entering Boxer’s and going to the bar to order the bartender asked us to move from the area by the register because he had to prepare a drink order for the restaurant. We sat at a table and waited. As we waited more people came in so I went up to the bar to wait my turn. No interaction. The bartender said there were servers at the tables on the patio and he didn’t want to discourage anyone from eating in the bar but it may be faster if people went out to the tables. My group went out the door he motioned to and sat at a table. There were two tables that still had menus and hadn’t ordered so we sat admiring the view of the sunset and waited. After almost ten minutes we asked the server for menus. She told us that we had to check-in at the front of Bromfield’s. I went into Bromfield’s to check in and was told by the manager that they weren’t currently seating anyone because the kitchen was backed up 45 minutes. I went to the bar and asked if they were still taking food orders from the bar menus and he said yes and when I told him that the restaurant wasn’t he went and asked the restaurant. He came back and told me that he could make pizza but nothing else on the bar menu. I went and got my friend to put in our pizza orders. Came back and he took our orders and was rude and snarky to my friend correcting her grammar. She said can I have a Jack and Diet, thank you and he said Please? He kept it up to the point that she complained to me while he was making our drinks and he said “lady I have a mirror I can see you”. Thought it was rude and probably just his personality so whatever. While he was making our drinks he took the order of the group that had originally walked in behind us about thirty minutes earlier. They ordered from the restaurant menu and said they didn’t care how long it took they were there to mostly drink. We went out to our table to wait for our pizzas. Everyone around us that ordered after us on the patio from the restaurant was served before we got our pizza. After 30 minutes I went in to get our pizzas which were just coming out of the oven and the table inside that had ordered from the restaurant menu had already received their sandwiches and fries. Why were we told that we couldn’t be seated or order from full menu because it would be at least an hour but three tables that ordered after us all received their food in less than 30 minutes? I was very disappointed in the lack of communication as well as the tone of the bartender and manager. I will no longer be willing to pay the premium for the location as the menu is priced higher because it’s a hotel, I will go to other local establishments where the same drinks aren’t $12. I’m disappointed that what was my favorite place to go has become so...
Read moreWORST hotel experience I’ve ever had. I booked a room for New Year’s Eve and opted for the add-on pizza package. When we arrived there were 20+ UNSUPERVISED kids running around the lobby, rolling on the floor, screaming and yelling. One even plowed right into me. There was one staff member behind the desk and he couldn’t be bothered. We got to the room and it was clearly NOT CLEANED. Oh but housekeeping was sure to remember to leave an envelope with a handwritten request for a tip?! There was even food debris on the floor. Water pressure was terrible and NO HOT WATER. After my luke warm shower I realized there was NO PIZZA. I called down and the man said he had no record of a pizza add-on. I told him I paid for it and had a copy of the confirmation. He told me I would have to show it to him. So I went to my car, brought it in, showed him and he said there was nothing he could do tonight and that I could get a pizza in the morning!? I said no, I’ll take my money back. We were hungry so I tried the vending machine which was barely half stocked. It was getting late so we just went to bed but then the FIRE ALARM went off. Obviously it was one of the unsupervised kids but the man at the front desk said we needed to evacuate until the fire department arrived. Finally it was turned off. We went back to bed and 10 minutes later the FIRE ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN.
The next morning I complained about the experience to the front desk and this woman wanted me to be sure to use her name, so here you go TAMMY….the response from Tammy who told me over and over she was the chief engineer of coco village!?!? was that nothing was their fault. That there was nothing they could do about the kids. And it’s simply just too bad some parents don’t watch their kids. And I should have know there wouldn’t be a pizza because I didn’t tell them if I wanted cheese or pepperoni but I wouldn’t get it anyway because I didn’t get a coupon and they didn’t get notified anyway. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. She was utterly unapologetic and offered no compensation. She said she’d refund the pizza package as a curtesy. I told her no, that’s not a curtesy, keeping my money for a pizza we didn’t get would be stealing.
The room was over THREE HUNDRED dollars. WHAT A WASTE. It was our first time staying and...
