To celebrate my birthday, my best friend and I spent the weekend at this "Luxury spa resort" and quite honestly, my experience was anything but that. Before we arrived we received a welcome email stating all the perks of staying and the amenities we would have access to which we soon found out was VERY inaccurate. We were excited to use the spa amenities but upon our arrival to the spa area we found out it was only available with appointment, keep in mind we were told in the email that we didn't need an massage appointment to use the spa amenities. Then we arrived at the pool and it was filled with children, how is that relaxing? The children were everywhere and I even got hit in the head with a ball. You would think there would be a separate area for children at a SPA RESORT. My friend and I couldn't wrap our minds around why there would even be children at Luxury Spa resort and Golf course. It made it feel like a local water park rather than a relaxing spa resort. When you check in you receive a welcome text, stating if we need anything to let them know; well we decided to try it out and order food while at the pool and never got a response. We then decided to call Cafe espresso to order food and they were so rude and unhelpful. We asked for chicken wings and a salad and they told us over the phone they were all out. We were frustrated with that information and decided to go by the Cafe to confirm. When we arrived we reviewed the menu they had on the counter as it was the same as online and we asked if they had the same things we had asked for over the phone and they said yes. Then the worker who answered the phone argued with us that we weren't listening, she never apologized and was extremely rude. We then went back to our room and after a few hours, we looked in the book placed in every room and we decided to order room service. We called the room service number and were told they weren't doing room service but Cafe espresso was so we had them transfer us to them. Cafe espresso said they weren't doing room service either. We were confused and looked at the dining section of the book again. They had hours for the restaurants and said room service was available, so we were confused why they weren't taking orders. We called back and were transferred to various employees who all had different information, with none being correct. Eventually we decided to just place an order for pickup. That exchange happened a few times and eventually we went to the front desk with the book and showed them the information in the book. We were told the information in the book was incorrect and outdated by AT LEAST a year. How can you be a "Luxury Resort" and not have up to date information available for your guests. When we told them about our room service experience, they informed us room service is unavailable from 10-11 but resumes at 11 and it would be a cold menu after that. This frustrated us even more because we were told by multiple employees that room service was done for the night. We asked them are all the employees receiving the same training because there were so many unnecessary inconsistencies that just continually made the experience worse. Of course we are still hungry so we reluctantly went to cafe espresso. We got there and were told the food we ordered for pick up, due to not having a room service option, was not available and we had to choose something else. The same rude employee who we talked to over the phone wouldn't even come out the back when we asked to speak with her about our experience. We told the woman at the cashiers stand who was nice and accommodating, to please pass on our grievances to every higher up. To top it all off, we were profiled as the help, by some random lady, when we visibly had on regular clothes, not a uniform insight. I hoped to have an amazing experience to celebrate my birthday but it was far from that. When asked if I would recommend this place, I surely wouldn't. The only positives were the bar...

I checked in on 9/30 for a one night stay. This was my fourth visit over a course of several years and had always enjoyed my stay. This time the vibe was different. Because of past experiences, I told a friend of mine and we decided to meet there from our respective cities and enjoy the sights and obviously as people do, take pictures to show-off our experience to social media. And as an influencer, I had highly recommended this resort in the past but as of 9/30, the tide has shifted.

After settling in, my friend was very impressed with indoor and outdoor designs, so naturally we decided to take pictures. I brought a travel size battery operated ring light which had an attachment where you can place your mobile phone in the slot, which would allow both of us to be in the picture. I was in the process of placing the ring light back in its case when an Asian woman who work there was passing through an area of the hotel. She paused and I thought she was waiting because she didn’t want to walk by (although at this time we weren’t taking any pictures) so I told her she could walk through. Then I noticed the fake smile before speaking when she said, you aren’t supposed to have photography equipment to take pictures unless you have a photographer’s pass and this is something you need prior approval for (such as weddings, events). I told her I had visited there in the past + had reserved a room (to let her know I hadn’t walked in the building off the street without reservation) taken pictures there before and never was approached about this policy. She then went on to say, cameras were all around and security would see it and would say something about it. She said I could use my mobile camera and my camera but not any photography equipment which required a plug in. I reminded her it was cordless/battery operated. But she went on to say it was policy.

I shook my head and could not believe what had just occurred. My friend and I went outside and took pics (no equipment/ring light, I had placed this back in my bag). Minutes later, another worker walked up to us and informed us of the same thing. I told her we were just told it was ok to use my mobile phone and camera and she said no, only mobile no camera. Admittedly she was nice about it and said she didn’t want anyone else approaching us. But this was so confusing, one person told me mobile and camera was ok and someone else tells me only mobile phone. But it’s mind blogging they have restrictions for taking pictures at a place you’d think they want people to enjoy without being concerned about being watched by security (that was brought up twice by the way, that we “most likely were being watched because cameras are all over the place”)

At this time, the magical moments we thought we would experience quickly turned to dissatisfaction. I had spent for hotel/food over $400 after only 4 hours of being there and harassed twice for taking pictures. We were done! Needless to say my friend who had planned on returning was totally turned off and said he wouldn’t consider it at all. He left. I stayed because that’s what I paid for but left out @ 730am the following morning. This was hours before check out because I was dissatisfied with the lack of freedom and the restrictions regarding pictures.

When I checked out I thought I was going to be asked how was my stay and i was going to convey my experience but the only thing she asked was if I wanted a printed receipt or email. I told her email and she said ok? You’ll receive the email. That was it. So much for customer service.

One positive note, the bell hops I encountered were extremely nice and accommodating. Maybe, just maybe management and the front desk can take a course in humility from them.

I will NEVER return to this resort again and as an influencer I am going to share this story on social media. If you have restrictions for pictures you really should have this prevalent...

I’ve stayed here twice over a several month period (once last December, and once this past week) and feel that I can give a pretty accurate review of an average stay.

Pros- Extremely comfortable bed. Had a fantastic night’s sleep The walls between the rooms are pretty noise dampening Check in and out can be done 95% on the phone. All I had to do at the counter was confirm my name and get my room key Great temperature range in the room. Started very cold and when I turned it up it warmed quite quickly. The water stayed super hot in the shower for my entire 40 minute shower. There were many places to plug in usb and wall chargers. The room was a great size. Had I needed a crib or rollaway bed we could have fit it easily and had plenty of room to spare.

Cons- Both rooms smelled stale and a bit odd. Upon further observation, I noticed mold forming on the air vent (picture below) While the rooms are noise dampening, the hallways are not. It was not at all pleasant listening to the people in the next room over having relations while trying to get into my room. The hours of services in their guest book, on their website, and on their tv guest services menu are different. For example: The website said dinner room service ends at 11:00, the book said 10:30, and the tv said 10:00 I wanted dinner when I got in at 10:05 and the person on the phone was very short with me about how dinner service had ended and they were on a limited late night menu. For someone who is already a bit nervous to call people and ask questions, this was not a great experience. Either the bathroom doesn’t have a vent or it wasn’t working in both rooms. Perhaps this contributes to the mold issue? Waited on my waiter in the restaurant at breakfast for aprox. 15 minutes when the restaurant was nearly empty, then had a long wait again looking for a waiter to pay the bill. This caused me to be there until 11:20 (when they close for 1/2 an hour to switch to lunch at 11:00) and they were rushing me out. I would have been out just before 11:00 had both of these waits not been so long.

Objectively Neutrals but things I personally didn’t like- The shower doors are only half glass walls (non-movable) so it’s hard to get warm There are no places to park that are very close unless you are their highest tier of rewards member. Plan to drop any disabled members of the party off at the front and then go park.

Overall, I would say for the price, the Grandover has not met my expectations. I would expect to pay around $150-$175 a night for this level of experience instead of being at the $250 price point. There are a lot of positives, but with there being mold on the vent in the rooms in both experiences 8 months apart, I have to assume this is true in most if not every room and can’t give it more than...
