Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Greenwood — Hotel in Greenwood

My husband and I spent a week in Greenwood as a matter of fact last week!, and I will not tell a lie and say that it wasn't my first choice. Why? Well, firstly because of the past reviews I had red on their website and secondly when I rode over to the property just by the looks of the grounds & building. It looked a bit older & only the top of the sign advertising their name was finished. The bottom half was just a mass if wires without a cover. But I have always been the type of person that just must see & judge for myself! So I went into the lobby (which was simply decorated but very inviting) & I was greeted by the most pleasant desk clerk! She was an older lady with such a fresh, pleasant attitude! I asked about a ground floor room (because I do walk with a cane that makes climbing stairs extremely difficult) with a king sized bed and she was quick to accommodate me! I then asked to see the room before making my decision, once again I was happily accommodated! Now I must admit that I was not expecting exquisite but OMG! I was so very pleasantly surprised!! The room appeared to have been totally remodeled! The bed was fantastic, carpet was clean & appeared new, blackout curtains appeared new, updated furniture, new desk chair & sofa (not one stain, no dirt not even any dust!!), flat screen t.v. w/surround sound & an awesome number of cable channels, micro/fridge was new & I was amazed that the fridge and freezer were separate with the freezer being large enough to accommodate a half gallon of ice cream!! Bathroom area was spotless & overall room size was great! And this wasn't even the absolute best highlights of my expierence!! That was when I was quoted the nightly charge......ONLY $40.00!! You heard or read me right!! Only $40.00 a night!! Oh and did I mention that they were also pet friendly & their nightly charge for the pet is only $5.00!! Can you believe it?!! Overall we were totally amazed & satisfied with our entire stay!! We will most definitely stay here again if we are ever back in Greenwood, Mississippi again!! Just goes to show that you can't ALWAYS believe what you read in the reviews! Seeing is definetly believing!! We decided to stay here because we have stayed at other location in this franchise, and had been very pleased with our stay. Lets just say all the hotels in this chain are definitely not the same. If I could have gotten my money back I would have! But this hotel knows they dont messure up. They post a sign at the check in window stating you only have 15 mins from the time if check-in to request a refund. There was so many things wrong i could go on and on. The room smelled of stale cigarettes and mildew. the fridge leaked and it as well as the microwave were dirty. Electrical sockets were missing covers, lamps were broken and the window seal was full of dead bugs. The furniture and carpet were old,,worn and not very clean. To add insult to injury the desk clerk basically told us that people who frequently stay here are drug users, and thats why the electrical cords to the lamps had been sliced, and they taped them back together. Run from this place the things advertised online is misleading or right down lying they dont offer breakfast,no swimming pool, some room didn't have microwave the fridge nasty, non smoking room had smoke smells, there clean towels was dirty,tv didn't work, smoke alarm was gone just hanging wires, My husband got this room at last minute for the Mississippi Valley game on 8-30-25. I do look at reviews but unfortunately room was reserved through our Costco at last minute. Some of these foreigners charge all this money for these run down motels & wanna call them Hotels.I'm definitely going call corporate & let Costco know of there deceptive advertisement. Upon arrival they put us in a room that wasn't clean someone else staying there for extended stay thank God we didn't get killed entering into the room with the 2 keys they gave us.
