I was glad my stay was just one night -- arriving late and leaving early the next morning. I didn't really enjoy this motel. The building is old and tired. Walking in did not inspire confidence. My actual room was ok enough for sleeping in, but there were some inconveniences.
There was no electrical outlet by the desk in the room. I needed to catch up on some work email and was surprised that a motel in this day and age wouldn't have an outlet near the desk.
Bathroom was cramped. The door to the bathroom was narrow. The stool is old-school small and round. The shower head fixture was just sticking through a hole in the wall. The little cover meant to hide the hole was not in the proper position. The setup looked a little bit janky like it had been installed by an amateur.
There are two buildings. Check-in was in one building, my room in the other. Walking into the building with my room there was an open area that was uninviting with various items strewn around. Signage was unclear. I give credit to the desk person for running over to point out to me where the stairs were.
There was no elevator. Normally, I do not mind stairs. On this trip, I had heavy items in my luggage and would have appreciated an elevator.
At the top of the stairs there was an equipment/storage room with the door just left open. Anyone could have walked in, and the room looked messy and unkempt.
Stair treads were narrow and I almost tripped a couple of times on the carpeted treads going down. The handrail went only about 2/3rds the way down the stairs then was broken off, and you are on your own for the final third. The handrail is on one side only, and is left-handed going down. There should be a rail on both sides in my view.
The pillows. They are too thick and don't compress enough. My neck was...
Read moreI’m going to be honest. It wasn’t awful. It wasn’t great. For the price I paid it was not worth it. Even it bring a 4 night stay. There are 2 buildings. Apparently I got the older building. Tiny stairs. Railing on wrong side of stairs. Worn carpet on stairs. Creepy doors at entrance. What’s behind then? Couch pushed against wall in second floor hallway. Why not just remove it? It smelled kind of how it smells when I go into a Chinese restaurant. The room. 2 room “suite”. C’mon. There was nothing “suite” about it. Tiny. Very tiny bathroom. Shower did have good pressure and hot water. Fan comes on when light is turned on and it’s very loud. Television in bedroom was jerry rigged and there was 1 remote to control both televisions. I was told the sofa bed was comfy enough. Beds were fine. Pillows were fine. Neither air conditioning unit put out much cool air. Both were on high and all the way down and it was still warm in the room. I had to go buy a fan. There is a pool. It is amazing. Enjoyed it very much. It is VERY quiet. Cameras positioned around outside. Key needed for entry. Only had to kick a rock away once. There is breakfast. It’s limited but adequate. The flies were distracting though. Coffee is very important to me. I was able to get that all but the first day. The gentleman working the desk was very friendly. Other than that I saw only a young woman. Most of the time there was no one at the desk. I’d like to see the rooms in the other building. I’d probably stay if they weren’t a cell like as the “suite” I reserved. For the price I paid though I’d expect better. For arguments sake also. Other hotels were not charging double for the race...
Read moreNot sure where these other reviewers stayed but our room apparently was not in the same place! We checked in early and were told we could go up to our room. There was a car parked and running right at the entrance to the building when we arrived. We entered the building and saw big dirt clods all up the stairs and down the hallway. There was one housekeeper working, sheets outside the rooms and, our room wasn’t ready. So, back down the dirty steps with our luggage, passed the running car. We came back several hours later (lady was still sitting in the running car). Dirt still all over the stairs and the windows outside our room was overflowing with dead flies! Our bed was made but oh my the ceiling light fixture had dozens of flies buzzing around it and dead flies inside the cover! There was no door on the closet, the window cover was a hard sheet of plastic that you couldn’t move up or down (but it did block out most of the flood lights from outside). Oh there were also dead flies in that window. Thought it was odd there was no sprinkler system. The room did have new paint and apparently a new desk and dresser. There was a coffee maker that was inconveniently stored on a tray on the floor underneath the TV stand. Needless to say we would never go back. When we left in the morning, the car was still parked by the door but wasn’t running so either the gal worked there or she ran out of gas. On an up note, the bar of Dove soap was a...
