Our family LOVES staying here every year. We have vacationed in many places, however this has been our favorite place as far as the resort goes. We have had a 1 & 2 bedrooms, up stairs & down. There are 2 floors, but no elevator. So you must be able to climb a flight of stairs for those rooms. I am disabled, and ever since my injury, we always request an "apartment" in the lower level and have no issues! The staff has always been so wonderful. Hot tub has a mechanical chair lift to get in & out if needed and it is bigger than most, and well.... cleaner than all the others I've seen ( & would not get in! This one we love!) The pool area has never been crowded on any of our visits. They have a basketball half-court, a fire pit & grill area with nice patio furniture. Great for Smores! The game room here is so perfect for us! It has ping pong, pool, tv, sitting area, and a video game room. This year they have an X BOX ONE available to play too. Vending machines, computer, movie rentals... the best part??? I've never seen more than about 5/6 people in there! A lot of the time, we're the only ones in there, and get to play ping pong & pool at the same time!! Oh and it's all free! They also have horseshoes to play with and a good size set up for it. If you have a room that faces the back of the property, you'll be on the Shangri la golf course which is gorgeous. Not a busy golf course at all, so kids can run around & play off your patio front or back side safely. Front side faces a road and parking lot. There is plenty of lawn space though, and not much traffic on the road since this resort is almost at the end of Monkey Island. The rooms: Appliances, dishware & cookware are all very nice, feels like we are living in our own apartment for a week! Electric fire place that is a heater, a good size grill on the patio, a Murphy bed, barstools, plenty of space for groceries & storage. Bathrooms & bedrooms are nice. They have stackable washer & dryers our personal favorite thing out of everything there us about visiting here.............. THEIR BEDS!!!!!!! Oh my gosh..... I don't know what it is, but for us, these are by far the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The pillows, comforter, down to the sheets. Just a slice of heaven for us!! The master bed is huge! With 2 bedrooms, we've had the same master, but different set up in the 2nd room. Once we had 2 twin beds, and another time it was either a full or queen. Something to think about when making a reservation. 3 tv's total, good size closets in both rooms, and we had 2 bathrooms as well. 2 bedroom sleeps 6 comfortably. 1 bedroom has a king & a Murphy bed in the living room. Down side to this was that when we were there for a rest break in the middle of the day my kid wants to pull the Murphy bed out to lay on, and that means moving the coffee table, and taking up almost all of the space from the barstools all the way to the patio & a.c. unit. Not easy to navigate. So we just make sure we get 2 bedrooms from now On! It's not a big deal, & if everyone else is resting, they won't need to move around it. Summary, stay here! This place is quiet, relaxing, fun & a perfect getaway for anyone, any age! Do it! Make sure you request any accommodation you need when making your reservation & the staff will make sure you're taken care...
Read moreWe are LOVING our stay here! I disagree with some of the comments in recent reviews regarding the suites and service. All of the staff we've encountered have been amazing and helpful to us, especially Todd! They've kept us stocked up on essentials for our suite and given great recommendations for food and entertainment! I know there is some variance among rooms, but I think our one bedroom suite is lovely with updated appliances, cabinetry, window treatments, and more. The carpet, couch, and chairs could use an update, though. Our golf course view balcony is lovely and we've had no issues using the grill several times! Our kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, baking dishes, cooking utensils, cutlery, decent knives, small appliances, and full-size kitchen appliances. We have enjoyed preparing most of our meals right here in our suite! Another amenity that I don't think is well advertised that I totally love about this place is the stacked washer/dryer!! We've spent a lot of time at the pool here and also up the road at some of the available Shangri-La amenities. The Anchor Activity Center at Shangri-La is an amazing, state-of-the-art arcade and VR gaming facility in walking distance from here (less than half a mile). We enjoyed renting waverunners at Sail Grand in the marina and had an excellent meal at Doc's, both next door on the Shangri-La complex. Another excellent meal option up the road in the opposite direction is Blind Swine; we also enjoyed a fun evening of karaoke and mingling with locals there! Grove is just a 25 minute drive from here and we were impressed with the awesome local grocery store there (Harp's) which provided most of our provisions for our week here! We've been to the Grove Braum's twice this week for ice cream (my husband had never been to a Braum's!) and it was great!! We also happily stumbled upon the American Heritage Music Festival & National Fiddling Contest at Wolf Creek Park as part of Grove's annual summer kickoff festival: Toes in the Sand. It's truly been a grand stay here on Monkey Island and we've loved having Club Wyndham Grand Lake as...
