Made reservations in advance to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We had never been here and was expecting a great evening. Upon arrival there were just a couple of tables filled in the front room. They seated us at a table up against a wall with an a/c vent directly under our table. We asked to be moved to a table with a view. They said they are reserved. However, it wasn't until we were leaving that they seated anyone at those tables with a view, this was almost 2 hrs later. The food - we ordered steak & salmon - salmon was good, steak was fair; it took almost an hour for these to be served. It is an expensive place and we expected the food to be excellent. They did give us 1 complimentary desert as an anniversary surprise, it was so nasty tasting we only took a couple of bites - tasted freezer burned. As we were checking out they did apologize for the seating and said it was due to people canceling, which doesn't make any sense; if people were canceling wouldn't there be more seating available. The room itself is old and tired looking. The clothing attire - there were people in cut offs, wet hair, etc etc. in both dining rooms. We thought this was a fine dining restaurant at Shangri-La, it is not. The whole experience was unacceptable and very...
Read moreCalled Friday afternoon for a dinner reservation for two and was told they were completely booked except 5:00 or 8:30. I highly doubted that and asked if they take walk ins and was told I could try and sit at the bar. Went ahead and booked 5:00 even though that messed up our plans a little. Got there at 5:10 to a completely empty restaurant. Left an hour later and maybe 5 or 6 tables were sat at 6:15. Very annoying situation to be forced to eat early when they had plenty of availability.
Server was not professional. She did nothing special. Barely introduced herself. Didn’t try and describe the menu or wines. Just an order taker. I expect more from a place trying to sell a $75 steak. She didn’t deserve a tip but I left smaller one anyways because you know you have to, right? She certainly didn’t earn one.
I got the Cajun shrimp which was good but only four jumbo shrimp for $34. My wife got the salmon which was $28 and a much better value. Big salmon filet and more sides. I ate half of hers or I would have still been hungry.
Food was pretty good. Overpriced for the experience but good...
Read morePlease read all the online reviews of this restaurant from people coming in from out of the area and not the local guide. I wish we would have done better research. We stayed at the Shangri-la hotel. We were told we could enjoy the same amenities as the club members. We were advised to eat at this restaurant. We booked a reservation for our 35th wedding anniversary, hoping to enjoy a wonderful dinner with a view. What they don't tell you until you get there is that the view is for Members only. Once they throw you up against a wall or at the bar, then they will fill you in on that. They were completely unashamed about using our special celebration to supplement...
