I had the best time at Boon! My bff and I celebrated our 45th birthdays, just the two of us. An adults only hotel is something we didn’t know how much we actually needed! One thing we were surprised about was how quiet it was. ||Room: it was a nice size, cozy, an clean. Cute decor, stove pipe fireplace, our room #3 was the Queen Studio Suite so it had one bed and one couch. Please note there was no TV! But that’s the point…to unplug! But it did have a record player which was a nice touch. It had a good sized Fridgerator stocked with a bunch of various alcohols. No microwave if you look for that. Ours did not have a deck with furniture like I saw some of the other rooms but we had a little yard in the back with seating. Bathroom had a stand up shower; I think my only complaint was the pressure and the temp control wasn’t so easily tuned in. I didn’t have to bring any toiletries. They provide (MALIN+GOETZ) shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and hand soap, and lotion which they have for sale along with other merch at their registration if you like it that much. They were good products. ||Breakfast: they provide breakfast delivered to your door every morning!!! You get to pick your time. It arrived on the dot at 8 practically both mornings we were there. Fruit, boiled eggs (fresh? because they have chickens on site near the parking lot and garden), some kind of pastry (one day was a morning bun, next day it was a croissant), with fresh squeezed OJ and coffee. ||Pool: quaint pool with plenty of lounging seating. We actually chose the cabana bed set up they have in the middle. So chill that we stayed there reading a book for hours! They provide pool towels in your room and some at the pools if you forget, sunscreen too! The pool itself didn’t have to be that big because there’s only 14 rooms, 2 glamping tents, and 2 campers on the grounds. So the area was never that crowded. That is a plus because it’s easy to enjoy the space. There was a hot tub on one side and a fire pit on the other. They had a honor bar too where you can grab a slew of choices of drinks in the fridge or mix up a cocktail of your own; all the shakers and equipment, ice, and SPIRITS were there. All you do is tally up your card that they have posted there of what you take; snacks too!! What an easy system. There’s infused water, hot coffee and tea there too if alcohol is not your jam. ||Activities: they have a good couple of handfuls of bikes to rent in their signature orange. Bike locks are provided in your room. The town is not too far so you can easily take the bikes. They had cornhole and croquet on their lawn too. We were looking forward to the yoga class they have on Saturday mornings on the lawn as well but the instructor had a family emergency. The staff were very apologetic and accommodating but we ended up hiking through Armstrong Redwoods instead so no biggy. They have other activities posted on their website too||Spa: omg this was amazing! We booked a couples mind + body with the scalp serum. They drew the curtain while we were getting on the table and opened it back up once we were ready to get our relax on. Did I mention it was ahhhh-mazing? I paid extra for the deep tissue while my friend got the regular and it was perfect for us. The serum with the scalp massage was just the cherry on top. We loved it so much we were joking that we should just book another one our second day. This was easy too as they just add it to your room, tip too if you wanted but we left them cash. Come with your clothes as to which they provide hooks or a bin or really relax and use the robes provided in your room!||Process: we booked on the room online, preregistered online (this is where you put your ETA, license plate and car make/model, and the time for breakfast), they text us the code to the front and left the key in our room. We just walked right in. For checkout, you just sign a paper that they provide you with your last breakfast and they ask if you want to leave a tip for the cleaners, leave the key and go. You don’t have to interact with anyone if you don’t need to. But we did ask for extra blanket and towels so the staff that we asked and who delivered were very nice too. ||This was a perfect getaway with the bff. I had an idea to book a place where we didn’t have to leave and we could just enjoy the grounds. We had no care in the world. Kids and hubby stayed home. No schedule to tie us down. We could do whatever we please for the 3 days we were there. There was no fuss at this relaxing hotel. We really felt spoiled! It’s close by to places to eat. We liked boon eat + drink for one of our dinners. It was close enough to other stops we tried like Healdsburg and Bodega Bay. Really close to Korbel. I really enjoyed my time and already thinking of a time to go back next! Also, they are very much so DOG FRIENDLY with rooms that allow furry friends so good to know for next time. They have a nice story that you can read on their site too. I wish I could visit...
Read moreBoon was incredible! It feels like a cross between a Bed & Breakfast and a bungalow type hotel. Super quiet! Solid value.
We live in the neighboring town and merely wanted a getaway from the kids and home life, a way to step off the roller coaster for a night. Even though Boon is right next to the spectacular Armstrong Woods, we didn’t have any desire to venture out, especially since we are locals and regularly experience the breathtaking west Sonoma county scenery.
We we arrived at Boon for our midweek stay, the very personable concierge made us feel super welcomed and showed us around our room and the premises.
There are 2 or three units per building. Several of these buildings encircle the pool area, which includes a deluxe honor-system refreshment bar (coconut water, beer, wine, etc). Towels and robes are supplied as well.
Our room was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly matched the rate. I would call the decor modern and sparse. The bed was MEGA comfortable and cozy with luxurious white linens. A Swiss fireplace gave a nice feeling during our visit which was under 24 hours of insane rain downpour. The fireplace used pressed logs that light with a single match. To further set the mood, the room had a replica vintage record player that was both novel and nostalgic for us. There were several LP vinyl records on a shelf to choose from. Instantly, we put on Eric Lindell’s “West County Drifter” album. It’s alternative folk with songs set in the local area and it really felt great hearing that music while relaxing in the exact same region. It felt especially atmospheric coming over the speakers of the vinyl record player.
The spa, sitting right next to the pool, is concrete and typical of a built in a pool/spa. The temperature was perfect, maybe around 102 degrees. It felt amazing sitting there in the rain with the smell of the redwoods. The water was crystal clear.
There is no TV in the room, so I suggest bringing the laptop as we did for Netflix or whatever you are streaming. We tried to watch Orson Welles’ last film “The Other Side of The Wind” but it was too much of an acid trip to actually sit through, so we quickly switched to the film “Afternoon Delight” starring Kathryn Hahn, Josh Radnor, & Juno Temple. It is a pretty compelling storyline with great characters and we give it a thumbs up. Of course, Boon has nothing to do with the movies, but my point is that Boon provided super strong wifi that allowed us to easily change our streaming choices without a buffering nightmare. But yeah, Kathryn Hahn’s character is pretty out there!
The bathroom has a really appealing selection of hair and soap products in pump bottles, all have great, healthy fragrances.
There is a simple, very private patio out one of the doors. It was pouring rain, so we didn’t use it, but it looks like an awesome place for a French cocktail and a good conversation. It has walls on all four sides for those who need… ahem…. extra privacy.
When we checked in, we were asked what time the next morning we wanted our (included) breakfast delivered. We said 8:30, and by golly at exactly 8:30 the next day it was delivered with warm salutations. The breakfast was much, much better than I had expected. Sometimes those “breakfasts” are a Costco muffin and a slice of melon. But the Boon breakfast was awesome. It looked absolutely beautiful on the platter an included: A tall pot of French Press coffee with porcelain mugs, a lovely greek yogurt with fruit, and a super melt-in-your mouth biscuit with butter and jam. The butter was room temperature so it spread nicely!!! Overall, the breakfast presentation was really classy.
At the end of our stay, we felt immensely rejuvenated due to the quiet escape and comfort provided by Boon. A+ Rating. A great stay in one of the most beautiful regions...
Read moreI wanted to find a spot that was close-ish to Salt Point State Park (closer than SF, anyway) that also had a hot tub to soak in after hiking all day. Boon looked like a great choice with quiet hours and what looked to be a serene setting near the Russian River. ||Booking and checking in were a breeze; the staff was very responsive to questions, and they had my room prepped for my late arrival. ||I had booked a basic Queen room, and it was as expected. It was clean, bright, and warm. Queen bed, a small table with a couple of chairs, and another table mounted on the wall facing the bed. Note that my room didn't have a TV; there was a record player instead, with a few records available to put on, provided by the hotel. Decor-wise, it was cozy. Pergo wood floors, small fridge stocked with drinks, what looked like natural wood for the tables and one chair. Heater worked great! The walls are pretty thin though, but I sleep with earplugs and the hotel provides earplugs as well. ||The bathroom was a little more dated than expected, but still was fine. Toilet paper was single-ply, or if it was double-ply, it was the thinnest double-ply I've ever used in my life. The TP at the park was better than this! Anyway...good water pressure in the shower, and there was a little window in the shower stall for ventilation. The screen in the window had a hole in it though, so I did have to kill a couple of mosquitoes. The only other con I can think of is that the pillows were quite flat and hard, so doubling them up to make them higher hurt my ears (or maybe I just have sensitive ears). ||Hot tub was great and I had it mostly to myself for the 3-night stay. The pool, pool bar, and hot tub area was very well maintained. Breakfast was basic but appreciated: Urn of coffee, a boiled egg, yogurt topped with berries, a glass of OJ, and a huge muffin. I only accepted the breakfast tray after my first night as I left earlier than the scheduled breakfast times all the other days (earliest they serve is 8:30 a.m., so I wound up picking up coffee from elsewhere). ||Suggestion to management: Have coffeemakers in the rooms or offer an earlier option than 8:30 a.m. for coffee, if possible. I think this is a family-owned property, so I do understand the limitations tied to that. ||Overall, a pleasant stay in a quiet area on serene grounds. I got a great deal (third night free), but am not sure if I'd pay the going rate without the deal in the future. I simply didn't stay on property enough or take advantage of things like complimentary breakfast enough. ||I do recommend this spot for couples looking for a...
