We just ended a magical week at the Hobby Crest resort with 3 generations of our family in 5 cottages. We had great grandparents, grandparents, parents, adults with and without children and kids ages 2-7. EVERYONE had an amazing time. There is quite a bit to do at the resort and you do not need to leave unless you really feel you need to step into town! The renovated cottages are impeccable...shiplap walls, woodplank ceilings, trim in each room to match the custom made cabinets/furniture. The showers are roomy and overall, you will feel like you are living in a clean home away from home - which is often rare in lake rentals. The cabins are fully stocked with wine glasses, measuring cups/spoons, bakeware, etc. The only things you really need to bring are beach towels, spices/cooking oils, coffee/sweetener, food, and a few trash bags. There is plenty of storage to fully unpack and feel settled. In addition, each cottage has its own firepit, firewood, picnic table, and outdoor furnishings. Our family rented the Sunfish, Bluegill, Nantucket, Sunrise, and Boone. All were very well done. The layout of the resort allows parents to enjoy a fire or sunset while the kids can plan in the grassy area/playground within view. The beach and lake area are spacious and well kept. The cottages come with a binder of things to do/restaurants nearby. The Ludington State Park is also gorgeous and nearby with lighthouses, dunes, beaches, and large playgrounds. The entire family throughly enjoyed this trip. We will definitely return!

Our family of 3 generations enjoyed every moment at Hobby Crest. The cottages are lovely with an updated look. But the setting at Hamlin Lake is what matters. We enjoyed the fishing dock, the water trampoline and other water activities, the basketball court, the open space for yard games, and the peacefulness of it all when we needed that. We appreciated the trails and dunes across the road and also the closeness of the resort to Ludington State Park. Randy and Christy are the ultimate hosts, being there "just enough" to check in and see if we needed anything, but letting us enjoy our family time together. We already have plans to return next summer; it's a vacation in a location we want to repeat.

Dined at The Perch restaurant this evening. Food was delicious, from the alligator bites, to the French dip sandwich and burgers. The waitress (I forgot to get her name but she had red hair in braids) was delightful and and competent. Highly recommend.

We are just leaving Hobby Crest after spending a week there over the fourth. We love this place, and we love the Malliots! They are amazing hosts. It’s our second year here, and we are coming back for a third next year. We stayed in sunfish with our six year old daughter who loved the bunk beds. The cabins are so cute, and new with air and are extremely clean. During this time of COVID, it’s such a safe place to go with your own private, clean place. We were worried about getting away due to risk, but desperately needed time out of our house. This was lovely. Beautiful views of Hamlin Lake, a playground for our daughter, water trampoline and clean lake for swimming. So many good memories and new vacation friends-all enjoyed at a social distance! The state park beach on Lake Michigan and trails are just down the road, and the public beach is about ten minutes away as well. There’s tons of nature around for biking and hiking. If you rent their pontoon boat, you can have a really fun dune hike right off of Hamlin Lake. We grilled out every night except one because we had to get the local Chuckwagon pizza-which can be delivered right to the resort! Just call ahead. It’s extremely family friendly and peaceful. Plus, we had s’mores and a camp fire each night at our own cabin’s fire pit. Definitely recommend...
