My recent "stay" at the Baymont by Wyndham in Hannibal, Missouri was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. I'm not one to leave negative reviews often, but this experience was so profoundly terrible that I feel it's my duty to warn others. Upon entering, I was immediately hit with a truly repulsive odor – a nauseating combination that I can only describe as baby throw-up and death. It was pervasive throughout the lobby and hallways, making it incredibly difficult to even breathe comfortably. This alone should have been a red flag, but I had already paid and was exhausted from travel. The nightmare, however, was just beginning. After a restless night, I woke up to discover the unmistakable signs of bed bugs. My skin was covered in bites, and upon closer inspection of the mattress, there was undeniable evidence of these vile creatures. It was utterly disgusting and, frankly, a health hazard. This hotel is not just unpleasant; it's a biohazard. The stench was unbearable, and the presence of bed bugs is completely unacceptable. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and STAY FAR AWAY from the Baymont by Wyndham in Hannibal. You'll thank me later.

Devastated. The bathroom was disgusting. The grout was disgusting. The faucets were falling apart, and the hair dryer was duct taped to the wall. When you flushed the toilet, the faucet in the tub ran. The beds were OLD spring mattresses that were akin to a box spring vs a mattress. The desk team was kind and polite. Raj saw me leave and was willing to give me a refund. Priceline refused, so it was a $160 lesson. While they're renovating, I probably would not stay in the area they put me in. It was off the pool courtyard indoors, so the screaming child echoed into the room the few moments it took for me to decide to leave. This is a tough critique because it is no unkindness to the service team... but I would not have paid to stay in that room and because of that room, I didn't even want to see the other options. We won't talk about the two sad pillows per bed or the lack of towels and toiletries in the room.

So you are looking for that mid century big hotel experience. This used to be it. I remember places like this from my youth and I hope the owners can bring it back to that some day. They have a lot of work on their hands. I can see this as a destination place for wedding parties and business functions. The pool area is huge with plenty of seating. They have a little arcade and vending area. Breakfast was a modified continental with some hot items. The rooms are descent sized and many of them face the pool area. WiFi worked better here than anyplace I went in Hannibal. Most places I couldn't even connect. The down side is the cleaning and upkeep. This is a huge place so I know it takes lots of people to keep it up but they will loose business to picky people if they don't. I would stay again but my wife would not.

I would give ZERO stars if it was an option. My friend and her granddaughter and I booked 2 rooms the weekend of the Wizard of Oz festival. We booked our rooms 3-4 weeks in advance. We traveled almost 3 hrs. to attend the festival. When we checked in, we were told there were plumbing issues in our assigned rooms and we would be moved to the outer rooms. (Initially we were inside near the pool). I do not know what the renovated rooms look like, but the outer rooms were obviously not renovated. Starting with the floors, grimy dirty, the odor of carpet powder refresher was suffocating. I would not take my shoes off and walk on the carpet. Furniture was old and worn. TV was a small old box type with terrible reception. When I pulled back the bed spread the blanket was very old and had a huge burn hole. The mattress was extremely worn and uncomfortable. I would not have been able to walk the next day if I had slept there! My friends room had a few dead bugs on her bed sheets and equally grimy. The more we looked around we decided the rooms were gross and we could not stay. We were refused a refund, but the manager said he would refund us if our rooms were rented that night. I didn't take pictures but wish we had. We were very lucky to find 2 rooms at the Super 8 down the road. We explained our situation and the manager went out of her way to give use rooms next to each other. The rooms were only 3 more dollars than at the Inn. The rooms were very clean, and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud. The next day we called the Inn and 1 room had been rented. The other had not and again we were refused a refund on the room that was not rented. I called multiple times and asked to speak to the manager. He was not available but I was told he would call me back. It has been over 3 weeks since the festival and no call back. I would call this whole situation poor business practices! We booked 2 inside remodeled rooms and were given 2 VERY UGLY, GRIMY rooms because of a problem at the hotel. Almost $70's a room for gross and uncomfortable rooms. If they had not rented 1 of the rooms it would have been $140 charge for THEIR plumbing issues. They took none of the responsibility or financial loss. My analogy is that you order lobster and are brought a fish stick because the restaurant ran out of lobster. However, you are charged for the lobster, even though you refused to eat the fish stick! I will NEVER stay or RECOMMEND this hotel. Shame on the owners and/or manager for their VERY POOR BUSINESS PRACTICES and no concern for their reputation or their guests! ...

So we arrived and there was a concert going on next door therefore the loud noise would not allow us to be able to go to sleep until after the concert to be later than 10:30 we were on a road trip did not want to have to sit up and stay awake all night long because we needed to get on the road again early in the morning. Beside the point we waited till the music was going to die down that we decided to check the bed which I always do when I go to a motel I lifted up the sheets and much to my surprise plenty of stains like lots of them from bed bugs and there was no bed bug liner on the mattress It was very disgusting. Although I will tell you this the friendliness and kindness of the people at the front desk especially Lee was amazing and outstanding The immediate response I got from the staff was great they came in and they attended to the situation although you cannot fix a bed bug infestation by changing somebody to a different room they refunded my money immediately without question and we're very good and understanding about it. that does not cancel the fact that they had bed bug problem at their motel and that needs to be adjusted before I would stay there ever and not only that we got there we found out the pool and the hot tub both were inoperable and unfortunately the gentleman had told me at the front desk that they were not going to be fixing it anyway cuz it's just too much money so if you want to pool or anything like that do not go to this place if you want a bed that's in good shape you better check before you sleep in this bed...

This review is going by the past 2 times we have stayed. The first time we was very pleased with our room. It was clean and they even allowed our 70 lb pitbull (10$ pet deposit) . So they have rooms that are smoking and pets allowed. The only thing that was a little bit of A bummer was our door looked like it had been bent out of the frame at the bottom. But they are doing a lot of work to the hotel so I'm sure they will get to it eventually. The second time was just last night. They didn't have any smoking rooms but they gave us a room that walked out to the parking lot and there was chairs right outside our door so it was no biggie. The only thing that was really wrong with the room was the bathroom was missed by housekeeping and we had no rags or towels. But again no biggie they fixed us right up and and the water wasn't very hot they apologized for any inconveniences. But like I said they are trying to restore the hotel back to its beautiful self. I guess because we know this it didn't bother me. Other then that we are pleased staying here. I can't wait to see what they do with it. I remember it in its hayday. I'm sure they will bring it back to life and do it justice. The clover shaped pool brings back so many childhood memories..I recommend this place it's peaceful and right at the edge of town and the people are nice. P.s. we haven't had any problems with...
