Harpswell Inn: A Magical 4th of July Reunion at Lookout Point Our friends truly outdid themselves by booking the entire Harpswell Inn for our 4th of July reunion, and I find myself incredibly lucky, feeling like the gods were smiling down on us! It was the most perfect setting for a fun, kid, and dog-friendly celebration at the breathtaking Harpswell Lookout Point.

At one point, as I was simply sitting in a rocking chair, gazing at the magnificent sea view, with birds chirping, kids' laughter echoing, and my dog peacefully by my side, I honestly felt like I was in a real-life "Calm Soundscape" – pure heaven.

Harpswell Inn is truly a magical place. The lovely young couple who took over a few years ago have done an exceptional job preserving the traditional 1800s Maine vibe of the house while infusing it with modern, fun, and funky furniture. The staff, though a small and dedicated team, were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I must give a special shout-out to Barbara, a true Harpswellonian, whose blueberry scones are absolutely divine! I even had a delightful small-town moment running into her aunt at the local Hannaford's in Brunswick.

The thoughtful owners also provided a delicious continental breakfast, featuring locally roasted coffee, and offered kayaks and paddleboards for the more adventurous members of our group to enjoy.

Our friends also inquired with Kelsey, the owner, about hosting a private chef for a special three-course meal. Kelsey went above and beyond, creating a gorgeous tablescape adorned with local flowers. She collaborated with a local private chef who focused on sourcing everything locally. Our culinary journey began with fresh oysters featuring traditional fixings and an amazing yuzu orange sauce, alongside a gorgeous cheeseboard as appetizers. Our three-course meal then commenced with a delightful tuna tartare salad with fried capers, followed by perfectly cooked NY Strip steak with garlicky chimichurri sauce, huge, delicious scallops, and incredible focaccia bread. The meal concluded with a delightful and refreshing key lime pie. The owners were also kind enough to arrange a separate, equally delicious meal for the kids, featuring a fun crunchy salad, mac and cheese, and brownie bites (yes, I tried it all!).

If I could convince our group of friends to make this an annual tradition, and we could secure our spot early enough with the kind owners, I would absolutely make Harpswell Inn our go-to destination every 4th of July.

Thank you, Kelsey, John, and Archer, for being such lovely and gracious hosts. We can't...

The Harpswell Inn is pure magic. From the moment we saw this place, we knew we had found the place, and it truly turned out to be the most perfect day imaginable. The property is stunning in every direction; every detail feels intentional, timeless, and infused with love. You can tell that Kelsey and John have poured their hearts and souls into every inch of this inn. The grounds are pristine, the rooms are beautifully designed, and there’s this peaceful, coastal warmth that makes you feel instantly at home.

Kelsey is an absolute angel sent from heaven. She answered every (and I mean every) email with kindness, patience, and a level of care that went above and beyond. No matter how small my question or how many times I circled back for reassurance, she always met me with grace and positivity. That kind of genuine hospitality is something you can’t teach; it’s just who she is.

John’s hard work and craftsmanship shine through in every corner of the property. You can see the thoughtfulness and pride in everything from the perfectly maintained gardens to the cozy, welcoming spaces throughout the inn. It’s a place that feels both elegant and deeply personal, like you’re celebrating somewhere that’s been loved for generations.

Our wedding day at the Harpswell Inn was everything we dreamed of and more. It was relaxed, beautiful, and overflowing with joy. Every guest commented on how breathtaking the venue was, and I couldn’t agree more. Each and every one of us will be back for a visit!!

Kelsey and John made our day truly unforgettable. The love they’ve poured into this place is so evident, and it radiates through the entire experience. I will forever be grateful that we got to start our marriage in a place that felt...

Our stay at The Harpswell Inn was excellent! It’s a beautiful old inn that shows the original charm complete with beautiful woodwork and flooring. The rooms were clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was hot. Kelsey and John are the new owners and they have done a great job making the Inn enjoyable. There are Adirondack chairs spaced out around the property and rocking chairs on the Inn’s wrap around porch – borrow one of the blankets from the living room if it’s chilly outside! There is a large living room with a gas fireplace and comfy chairs to relax in, a game room with all sorts of board games, a self-serve 24-hour coffee/tea station, and delicious breakfast offerings each morning. Get a bottle of wine or a local beer (complete with glasses to use outside) from the honor system bar in the living room and take a short walk down the hill to catch a gorgeous sunset! The location is truly incredible. It is quiet and private – I curled up in a chair outside every morning with my coffee and enjoyed the early misty light. We spent a day exploring Harpswell, Orr’s Island, and Bailey Island meeting some friendly people every place we stopped. Brunswick is right up the road, Freeport and Bath are both about about ½ hour away should you decide you want to leave peacefulness of the Inn. We will definitely be back and look forward to seeing the changes that Kelsey and John are planning!
