As an ex corporate travel manager for American Express, I was very impressed with the value for the money at this property. I needed a last-minute reservation near Kansas City when driving from Alabama. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I chose the Slumber Inn, not expecting a lot for what I was paying. It was a little difficult to locate the Inn because the light on the sign was not working and it was dark.( I have since learned that workers in the area cut the electrical wire to the doors go and it’s being fixed ) The location was right off the highway which was convenient. I made the reservation from my car about 10 minutes before arriving and immediately received a message to checkin online. I completed that form about 4 minutes before I drove into the driveway. I went in the office and the gentlemen who checked me in ( Harry ) was very friendly and helpful in explaining the unique room locks. He even walked me to my door and waited to make sure I could access the room and offered any additional help I needed. I was surprised and pleased to see that the room was very pleasant and clean and there were amenities in the bathroom, a microwave, a refrigerator with a FREEZER and a coffee pot with good coffee. There was also a large room a few doors down with a nice ice machine, a vending machine with very inexpensive soda and a washer and dryer. Access to the rooms is outside, which may not be ideal, but I don’t think you will find more value for your money! The Slumber Inn is also located across the street from a Sapp Bros truck stop with a Dunkin Donuts, a cafe, and a store. There is also another gas...
Read moreThis place was terrible. We stayed for one week and paid for another week because we couldn't find anywhere cheaper within 150 miles.. well, there's a reason for that and we left early and the owner didn't even offer a portion of a refund. The last three days we were there, we were woken up to roofers, gutter crews and mowing crews at the crack of dawn and were never given a warning of it happening. Day one of hotel construction, the roof crew messed up the satellite and it wasn't fixed til late the next afternoon. The wifi is POOR. The pool is full of gravel. My room had splatters of who knows what on the wall, stickers all over the mirror, and the floor was so filthy that we asked to use their vacuum because two minutes after taking a shower, our feet would be BLACK! Found MANY spiders in our room, and the water absolutely reeked of silver to the point it made us gag just washing our hands!!!! There was something sticky all over the headboard and blood/boogers on the wall. Not to mention the smoke detector was BROWN so there is no telling if it was actually Ily functional. This place is a total DUMP!!!!! RUN FAR AWAY!!!!!
The photo is from the day we gave up and left to a hotel 40 miles away for $25 more a week and are much happier! We were in that...
Read moreThis is subjective on my part. Had I not made the reservation and payment in full ahead, sight unseen, this might be a place I drove by and kept driving. It doesn't have a sign with the actual name unless I missed it. However...
I didn't have any interaction with anyone working there. The communication was all electronic, email, and/or text.
Pre-check in via text was taken care of skipping the office, and I subsequently got a text with a code for the room door.
Door lock functionality was actually better than most hotels. Digi-keypads.
The room itself was also unexpected. Clean. No issues. Microwave and mini-fridge, while unused, all good.
While I travel with slippers, I know, weird, I didn't feel the need to put them on, though I did.
Mattress was comfortable. Bathroom functional and clean. Furniture didn't feel 60 years old.
Nothing much around - truck stop with a good size convenience store, gas, and restaurant across the road.
Checkout also via text to a website.
Again, it is an unexpected experience, and you can't always judge the book by the cover.
I rated service a 5 even though there was no human interaction.
Location, 4, but nothing against...
