Though we visited in February 2020, just before the pandemic reached critical mass, it feels like ten years ago. We rented a fairway view one-bedroom but was given the option to upgrade to ocean view on our second night. The staff was always friendly and wonderful and we couldn't have been happier with Mauna Lani Point! This was our second visit to the Mauna Lani area. On our first, we stayed at the hotel (before it was purchased and renovated by Auberge.) We probably would have stayed there again if the room prices hadn't doubled, but finding MLP turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We are huge fans of Napua but only had been there for dinner. When you stay at MLP you are given access to the Beach Club, which in practice means you can use the small beach and cove where Napua sits (assuming you get there early enough to get chairs), and the place is totally different during the day. It is definitely a beach-style restaurant with a walk-up bar where the Mai Tais are top shelf. We loved walking to Napua at night on the quiet road that leads back to MLP (even the centipede we saw!). We played golf at the North and South courses, both of which were wonderful. Fortunately our ocean-facing room was a quick walk from the famed 15th hole on the South course, which is where we watched the sun set every evening and took hundreds of photos that absolutely do not capture the experience of being there. One evening we saw a guy make a hole-in-one on his second ball while the sun was about to set. We saw whales breaching. We walked down to the black sand beach. All of it was peaceful and never crowded We walked up and down the Mauna Lani beachfront several times and had a drink at the renovated hotel. It looks quite a bit nicer than it did before the renovation, but for for us having more room to spread out and having our own lanai and a small grass lawn was unbeatable. We stargazed with astronomy binoculars on a tripod and there was minimal light pollution. We aren't big breakfast eaters on vacation, but on the mornings where we wanted a full morning meal we drove up to Waimea to eat at Hawaiian Style Cafe. We read some of the rooms at MLP are less upscale than others, or haven't been renovated, but both of our rooms were very nice and what we expected. Not sure we'll stay at the resort hotel again considering the experience we had at Mauna Lani Point. It's a special place and we will definitely be back.

2 stars for the view and kitchen. The place is very difficult to find in the dark. Hyatt advertises as a RESORT w pool, restaurant, lots of RESORT stuff. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! THERE IS NONE OF THIS UNLESS YOU DRIVE ELSEWHERE!! The 2 bedroom unit we rented had a nice kitchen and a gorgeous balcony. That was IT. The bathrooms were beyond OLD and terrible. Im talking right out of EARLY 1970's. The master had cabinets that were so worn I refused to touch them. The shower was small, like a 32" stall, no shelf, no place for anything and OLD OLD OLD. Just GROSS. SAME with second bath. Now don't get me started on second bedroom. Two of the CRAPPIEST twin beds ever. TWINS!! I sat on the balcony at 11pm, SOBBING. IT WAS THAT BAD. We had no choice but to spend that one night. Then we checked out. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A CREDIT and will be disputing it with American Express. NOT AS ADVERTISED!! OMG RUN FROM THIS PLACE. The second bath seemed even older, if possible. The living area reminded me of the 70's ski chalets... It was nice but not up to date. Kitchen had been redone and was nice, but I couldn't shower in the kitchen. I was in touch immediately with the staff of the resort and let them know I was disgusted. The following day as soon as we had reservations confirmed with the WESTIN RESORT, I immediately told her we were checking out. She told me where to leave the keys in the unit, which I did. We were NOT there 24 hours...and it appears they are charging me for the entire week. NOT RIGHT WHEN the unit was NOT as advertised. The shampoo containers had been used and were only partially full... i mean all around NO. JUST NO. Hawaii has a water conservation program and this place had ZERO conservation measures in place. DO NOT STAY HERE! THERE ARE ZERO AMENITIES accessible easily..MUST DRIVE EVERYWHERE. And the place is SO OLD MY GRANDPARENTS could have a reminiscing party. NO.

We stayed in Mauna Lani Point last week in villa H206. Everything was amazing. The villa was super clean and equipped with every single item we would ever need. It really felt like home. Every drawer was labeled, even electric switches were labeled. The view is breathtaking. The private beach was the best beach we went too in the island, not crowed at all, clear water and my kids really enjoyed snorkeling. I definitely recommend Mauna Lani Point, it’s the best ❤️

Andrew Geer, the Mauna Lani Point Executive House Keeper, made the difference between a fantastic vacation or a dreadful one:

When we arrived after our long trip from New Mexico, we were advised by Office Manager Lei that our very gorgeous unit - which we'd stayed in last May - was unavailable due to plumbing issues, but that they had another unit that was of equal status to show us...No idea when our beloved unit would be fixed.

We have been coming to Mauna Lani for 20 years, staying at eventually all the prime VRBO resorts, and thought we'd found our final final unit to stay at, twice a year; but we trusted we'd be taken care of professionally.

The alternative unit offered was unacceptable - tiny, poorly laid out and without charm. It had an ocean view, which was not a feature we had energy on, not a required feature, as after dark the view would disappear.

We were driven to another unit and asked to wait in the van as an office staff member went in to see if it was ready to view as an option. After ten minutes (I am not kidding) waiting in the van they returned and we are told it was actually not an option and we would be returned to the office for a refund.

This is a large resort property, we've stayed here before, the occupancy this time of year is low, we were dumbfounded.

Once we were driven back to the office Lei began the process of processing the return of $7,500/ten days for the original unit, then turning it over to very nice staff member Mark...My friend sat watching as he was debriefed on the situation Lei was removing herself from.

I was outside frantically calling The Fairmont Orchid and The Auberge when Andrew entered the office, asking my friend to please step outside as he wanted to have a conversation with her.

I got off the phone, having decided we would just drive to the two hotels to see if we could get reasonable rates as no one in reservations was picking up, and joined the conversation.

Andrew told us he had a beautiful unit he could show us, so we drove off to check it out.

It was beautiful, golf-course view, We thanked him and said it was great We were happy (and grateful) to take it.

He saved the situation and our vacation, with great...

Mauna Lani Point is a beautiful property. The ocean views are unbelievable. To have full kitchen, dining room, living room and a full bathroom for each room is really nice. We went out to eat 50% of the time and stayed in and cooked the other 50%.

They have 2 great courses which are very well maintained. Clubhouse was 3 minutes from our place! The South Course is more scenic than the North Course but the North course has a higher rating as far as difficulty. Both will present challenges and beauty. My handicap is scratch and take my golf very seriously.

The Beach Club is very nice but we preferred going to Hapuna Beach which provides white sand beaches and crystal clear water. The waves are perfect for boogie boards or body surfing. It was whale season so never a dull moment looking out. When you go you have to hit the Malasada Stand on the main highway right by Hapuna Beach. We stopped every day!

We did receive Great Service from Irene one of the reservation ladies in the check in office. After staying for 3 days I decided to invite my 71 yo Dad over for the last 7 days of the trip. I needed to switch to 1 Bedroom Ocean view to 2 Bedroom Ocean view. The night before I went into the office and the lady just really did not want to help me. I could tell she wanted to just let the next days staff do the work. Little disappointed at $550 a night. The next morning I went into the office and met Irene. I told her what I wanted to do and she went way above the call of duty to make sure I got handled and even provided a ground floor unit so my Dad did not have to climb Stairs. I am not rich so spending this much money for 12 nights pushed my comfort level but Irene saved the day and provided the customer service you should get when you spend this type of money! Congrats to Irene and I hope her manager already recognizes her talent!

This was my 3rd year visiting this property and have a hard time going somewhere else for my 1 vacation a year. Highly recommend the property and should...
