We stayed here through March and, because there are no other suitable campgrounds with RV hookups in the Helena area, we are staying here for the month of April to get some affairs in order before pulling out. I pray we can leave by the end of the month. We pay $505 a month as the winter rate, with a Good Sam's Club discount. They charge us an extra $100 for having children, but there are no amenities for children in the park. There is no playground and, since they don't enforce the speed limit at all, there is really no place to ride bikes. The children are bored. Though they mention "area attractions" on their site, they are far away from town and any attractions. There is a long list of rules when you get there, but they do not enforce any of them. We have had a neighbor who has her dog defecating all over several of the back in spots. She never cleans it up, nor does she take her dog to the dog walk, as requested in the rules. She piles bags of garbage outside her RV and takes it to the dumpster, a mere 20 feet away, about once every two weeks. Last week there were more than 10 bags of garbage outside before she got rid of it. On top of that, since the weather here drops so low at night, our RV is not de-winterized. We have been using their shower and restroom facilities. There have been several times that my boys have gone over to take showers that the bathroom is full of crap (literally) and smells like it. The toilets are plugged and sometimes even running over onto the floor. The shower stalls are covered in feces and mucus. Sometimes, we just have to skip showers until after they bother to clean them. I have gone over several times where the toilets are overflowing and filled with crap (literally). There are absolutely NO garbage cans in the stalls in the women's bathroom, so you must carry any sanitary items to the sink area around the corner. The lights in the bathroom cannot be set to stay on, so in the middle of a shower, they just go out and leave you in the dark. I highly recommend taking a lamp with you to the shower ladies. Overall, I think over $500 for a barren, rocky wasteland of property and disgusting facilities is robbery. Trouble is, the other two campgrounds in the area are crawling with registered sex offenders. My advice is just to keep driving to another town where you might find nice facilities at a reasonable rate. Keep in mind these rates are the winter rates and go up by...
Read moreThe Helena North KOA is a good option for RVers and tent campers who are looking for a clean and convenient place to stay in Helena, Montana. The campground is located about 2 miles from the interstate, making it easy to get to and from town. It is also close to several amenities, including a Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot. The campground offers full hookups, including 30 amp and 50 amp service, clean laundry facilities, and hot showers. There is also a playground for kids and a dog park. The sites are mostly gravel, but they are generally level and well-maintained. However, the sites are a bit narrow, so larger RVs may have trouble fitting. The campground is not located in the most scenic area, but there is a small amount of shade from trees. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the campground is generally quiet and peaceful. Be aware that the sites are narrow, so larger RVs may have trouble fitting. Bring your own shade if you want more protection from the sun. Take advantage of the playground and dog park for your kids and pets. Visit the nearby Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot for all your shopping needs. I...
Read moreThis review is based on our experience with our 40ft fifth wheel with 4 slides pulled by a dually pickup. We have been fully time for over 3 years.||I don’t recommend this park for anything more than an overnight stop. Although it is not far from the interstate, it is fairly quiet. The interior roads are thin gravel and easy to navigate. At check in the staff was very friendly and personable. Internet was better than average for a park and Verizon service was dependable even to hot spot. ||Now for the cons…|First of all, the price for what you get. Most of the pull through sites are long enough but quit narrow with very thin, if any, gravel and grass that is mostly dead. Next, our picnic table wasn’t very usable nor was our outside narrow strip of space. We did have a cement pad, but the neighbor’s water, power, and sewer hook ups were so close to it that they were almost in our site. Their water hookup leaked, and their water sprayed all over our concrete pad and table. Making them useless. I also wouldn’t want to be eating or sitting outside when the neighbor is dumping tanks. Another problem was the park’s watering schedule. We were there for a week and most mornings they began watered at 8 am, totally soaking our table area making eating or cooking outside impossible. Lucky we didn’t need our table. The water is automatic so why not reset the time rather than water at a peak time when people are eating breakfast or packing up? I also was surprised at the large number of permanent / long term residents parked in a KOA, not usual for KOA. They are all parked along one area of the park, but as usual, many have lots of “stuff” making the place look dumpy. As stated, I’d stop for a night if needed,...
