I would love to leave a great review but, unfortunately I have to say worst experience in my life. Whatever you do please do not trust "Bob" the camp host. He will forget speaking to you and you could possibly lose everything you own. We pulled into a site and spoke with Bob and asked if it was OK to set up there and pay when our phones could connect to the internet because we had no service at the time on our phones. He said yes that was fine and handed us a green slip to put on the site number. We left and went into town in Vegas to go to work. While I was trying to get the site reserved it showed that the site had been rented out between the time I was at the campgrounds and the time it took me to get to losee and lake mead. (Approximately 40 minutes). So I found a site available and paid for it. Keep in mind I was at work so I had to wait until I was able to leave to go back to the campground so I could move my camper to our paid site. When we arrived we saw our camper being towed away. When speaking with the Ranger he said that he spoke to "Bob" and Bob stated he never spoke to me. So the Ranger called the tow. I just bought the camper 2 weeks ago in Ohio and brought It to the campgrounds. We had all of our belongings (clothes , blankets , pillows , toothbrushes and along with everything else we own) in the camper. Afterwards I went to the camp host "Bob" and asked him why he denied talking to me and he said he didnt remember at the time when the Ranger showed up. Now it is going to cost us $850 to get our home back from Walker towing after I go pay who knows how much to register it before I can go pick it up. All the Ranger could tell me was he can give me a pamphlet to help me out and I should use the site since it is already paid for. Some good a pamphlet does when everything is closed and you have nothing but a vehicle to sleep in. No blankets or anything to keep warm. Then he says "you should be careful who you trust". Which to I said if you can't trust the camp host then who can you trust? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! NEVER EVER WILL I TRUST ANYONE WHO HAS RESPONSIBILITY OF A CAMPGROUND!!!!!! STRAIGHT CROOKS!!!!!!! I will be taking this to someone who cares about people and their personal care instead of just taking people's lives and tossing them. I would have been safer parking it on the side of the road. At least they warn you with a sticker that they are gonna take it within a 24 hour period. People wonder why nobody respects these people's jobs. They don't even do them with integrity. All they have to do is say I forgot I spoke to you or I'm sorry I'm 87 years old and can't keep up. Poor...
Read moreDecent one-night stay. Stopped here on a Saturday night in late March 2021 while driving from California to Utah; had an NPS annual pass so the only fee was $20 for a night at the campground.
NOISE: Pretty quiet after 10pm, although there were quite a few kids around in the afternoon, and if you have a site near the restrooms or trash bins, beware that you may hear some slamming of doors at all hours. I was on the loop where generators were prohibited, and could hear them only faintly in the distance—not bothersome.
FEATURES: Each site seems to have a parking space, a picnic table, a fire pit, and a gravel area for a tent or whatever. At least at my site, the gravel layer was no more than about an inch thick, and rested atop a very hard rock layer. This meant that the stakes for my tent did not go deep enough to actually anchor it, as there were gusty 15-20 MPH winds that evening. Keeping heavier items inside the tent prevented it from blowing away.
AVAILABILITY: Perhaps this campground is getting increasingly popular and likely to fill. A week before I arrived, I called the Lake Mead NRA ranger station to ask about likely availability for my dates, and a ranger said that even if Boulder Beach campground were full, Las Vegas Bay definitely wouldn't be full. But, perhaps because I arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon (around 5pm) during a typical spring break week, the Boulder Beach sign said "Campground Full," and so did the sign here at Las Vegas Bay. I drove through anyway and managed to find a vacant spot—apparently someone who was planning to stay two nights had left after only one.
LOCATION: Huge positive. It's very close to Vegas, but also remote enough to feel outdoorsy. Appealing sites with palm trees, well-manicured bushes, maintained roads, and even some nice views across the wash.
SAFETY: Lots of other campers around, so I wasn't worried about camping on my own. I stayed here during the COVID pandemic and very few people were wearing masks. Restrooms should have been better ventilated—the doors were kept closed and there didn't seem to be many air...
Read moreIt was a very nice family campground with water spigots & an electric plug in the restrooms (flushing toilets) which were pretty much clean & stocked except for no soap or paper towels. Many coyotes & owls were heard at night in the distance & the stars were awesome! Generators have running hours otherwise it would be horrible noise! America the Beautiful Access Pass gets you half off campsites & free entry into the Lake Mead area(talk to any BLM land office 😉). The rangers were very professional and courteous! Camp host Bob seems to have the campground efficient and well kept while being friendly & helpful. Trees & bushes are protected so the shade is great!!! I would have given 5 stars if the lake wasn't so far away due to the water being down so far in the lake now. Plenty of dumpsters so no need for littering 🙂 The fellow campers were very considerate & what they were not going to use was left behind for those who could use the stuff. (A brand new shower tent still in box came in handy with the portable shower head we brought in) No campground showers there! Very close to Henderson shopping & Boulder Beach by the water. The visitor center is a must see by Boulder Beach! Everything went smoothly with the considerate campers & the unruly ones were diligently handled by the rangers, federal land in national park systems! Think twice before breaking laws!!! This campground was more family oriented than Boulder Beach &...
