We had an awesome time at the Black Forest Inn! Weâre a family of three, including an 8-year-old, and we spent a weekend in the âCottageâ. It was perfectâjust like the pictures on the site. The separate entry and full kitchen made it feel like our own little apartment. Plus, the floor to ceiling windows had amazing views, and we got to watch the beautiful sunrise every morning.
The Inn is in a great spot: a bit secluded but close enough to the adorable town of Hill City. Itâs got cute shops, great restaurants, and you have to check out the historic 1880 train!
Todd and Shelly were the best hosts. They texted us before we arrived to check in and met us when we got there with a list of nearby restaurants and lots of details. The Inn really had that cozy bed and breakfast vibe. Each morning, we had a delicious breakfast menu made by Shelly ( always different). All of the guests gathered, chatted about our adventures from the day before, and planned out our adventures for that day. Todd and Shelly were always there with great tips and ideas for things to do. Our own personal travel guides!
It was a fantastic experience. My son already said he wants to come back soon! I could go on and on about how great it was. Highly recommend it đ˛đ and donât miss the nearby lake! And alsoâŚthe outdoor couch is soo cozy, I loved sitting in the sun on those...
Read moreThe Black Forest Inn was very unique in all good ways. The setting was beautiful. The building was well kept up and up to date. The common areas were spacious and comfortable. There was a game/TV/DVD room that had many games including a pool table, hundreds of movies and lots of space for guests to enjoy all of these at the same time. Everywhere in this inn were signs of how thoughtful the owners Shelley and Todd were. They were welcoming, showed us through the inn and shared all the amenities and gave ideas of places to see and where to eat dinner. Shelley and Todd really made us feel comfortable and like friends right away. Our room was very lovely with a cozy couch, soaking tub, great bed, and a nice view. The patio had lots of space, seating, and comfortable groupings. The food was excellent and well presented in a buffet setting at 8:30 AM so nothing was left to sit out and get cold. There were many seating choices for the meal. Everything we ate was homemade and perfectly delicious. We will definitely go back to this inn and stay...
Read moreWe just returned from a 7-night stay at the Black Forest Inn Bed and Breakfast, and I can honestly say it was one of the most wonderful experiences weâve ever had. Shelly and Todd, the owners, are incredible hosts who clearly pour their hearts into making every guest feel welcomed and cared for.
Each morning started with a delicious, healthy homemade breakfast that truly set the tone for our day. On one morning when we had to leave before breakfast was served, Shelly even prepared cinnamon rolls for us to take on the road â such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture!
Our room was clean, cozy, and well-stocked with fresh towels daily. Everything about our stay was seamless, comfortable, and filled with warmth and kindness.
If youâre visiting the Black Hills area, I highly recommend staying here. 10 out of 10 â absolutely would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Shelly and Todd, for making our...
