First I’d like to stress that Rocky, the camp host, is amazing. She keeps things ship shape. The camper cabin was spotless and the bathrooms were super clean. She’s very friendly and on top of everything. The camper cabin is in near new condition and equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, and wall air conditioning. Towels and bed linens were provided which was a great touch. There’s a mix of people staying a night, passing through, and some people staying longer. It’s close to everything. Very centrally located. The two negatives: it’s right on the busy highway. It’s not set far back at all. So it’s noisy. Lots of traffic noise. It’s not in a cute and quaint location. Your business is the whole highways business. The second negative is that the campsite website says they have WiFi. They should have just said no WiFi. It’s non existent. There’s a note in their welcome binder that says basically they are in the middle of nowhere and WiFi is what it is - which is nothing. One of the reasons I picked this place was for the WiFi they advertised so I could work nights after days with my family. I could not work. You’re in a valley do you don’t get cell service or cell WiFi either. You are completely out of touch with the world. On a couple occasions, we were able to get slow WiFi for a minute or two at a time and then it was gone as fast as it came. I know where in SD and on vacation, but I still needed to work, and access maps and directions to where we were headed. This was a HUGE disappointment for us. Either fix the WiFi to make it work as one expects or stop advertising it. The cabins need hooks. Lots of hooks. There are none. They could also throw a plywood table in there over the fridge next to...

We stayed here on our way to visit Mount Rushmore in a Class A 32 foot RV. We stayed in the upper RV spots with our Class A. I cannot say enough good stuff about this place. The location is awesome, on the little creek, and side of the mountain, it was so cool. We were running late, and I called ahead to let the host know. Her name was Rocky, and she was so nice. When we got there, she saw us pulling in and came right over to guide us to our spot. Then she delivered a bunch of firewood that I pre-ordered. She gave us the layout and let us know where she was if we had any questions. For us, our first trip this far west, she could not have made us feel more welcome. The shower house was immaculate. I could not believe how clean they were. The stalls were roomy and everything from floor to ceiling was spotless. The spot we had was perfect (RV14). It was roomy, there was pretty good separation between the spots, and each had a sturdy picnic table with fire ring. The gravel was compact, and grass well maintained. The bonus I did not count on was the creek behind our spot. We were elevated above it, something which was hard to tell from the maps and satellite views, but the sound of it was so relaxing. I was able to pop my window open while sleeping and listen to it all night long and it was so peaceful. We did not get there in time to be able to go to Smoke Jumpers restaurant, but it is a very short walk to get there. The next morning, we were about 20 minutes away from Mt Rushmore, so it was a very convenient spot if that is what you are there for, as we were. I highly recommend this campground for anyone heading out there to stay and Rocky...

Rocky makes this place!!! Her natural kind and caregiving demeanor make you feel right at home instantly. She bent over backwards to assure all of our needs were met — being novice campers in our RV van, she didn’t make fun of us once! Rocky delivered our firewood (decal times as we moved around the grounds to find our perfect spot. Ha! The kiddos (10 and 8) loved her!!! They also enjoyed the creek that winds around the campsite and played in/around it for hours. They didn’t want to leave and asked (as we drove around the beautiful Black Hills), “when can we go back home to Rocky’s? This worked for us — you can’t beat the central location of the park to all BH has to offer! An adult fav was the sound of the water flowing as we slept with our camper doors wide open (with only a bit of background noise from the road). Bathrooms and showers were clean and accommodating. We didn’t want to leave! Hope to be back again and continue our wonderful visits...

First, Rocky the hostess with the mostess is absolutely lovely! She was a big help and very friendly. The restroom facilities are incredible! The grounds were clean and well maintained. The location is perfect, in the middle of every thing. There is a Lodge, cabins, RV spots and tents spots We camped 3 nights in a tent so the rest of this review is for tent campers. We had water and electric hook-ups. The site is next to a busy Highway so it has traffic noisy all night and day. I went there to get away from the city and heard it all day and night. Also the tent sites are practically right on top of each other so there isn’t much privacy. It wasn’t as secluded as the advertising makes it seem. We probably wouldn’t ever camp in a tent there again but would try a cabin or lodge room.

Absolutely lovely place to pull in our RV and stay for a few days!!! Camp Host Rocky was extremely friendly and helpful when we needed a couple of things. Very easy RV hookups!! The facilities were kept super clean and were easily accessible when we didn’t want to use our own. The location was perfect for adventuring from, centrally located to many of the Black Hills attractions. (The only “downside” was poor wifi.) We couldn’t have picked a better spot for our 6-day adventure in South Dakota!!! Thank you for everything!!!
