The Flamingo Motel — Hotel in Hugoton

The parking is very limited with no handicap designated area. There was only one space that I could park my vehicle with handicap plates without sticking out and blocking other vehicles so I placed two traffic cones in this space in order to reserve the space. When I returned from eating the cones had been moved and someone else was parked in the space. I was angry but parked in another space and went to my room. Within five minutes the owner knocked on my door telling me that I had to move my vehicle because it was blocking someone else. I explained that was why I had put the cones in the other space and was told it was first come first serve for the parking spaces. Let’s see, it was first come first serve for the other vehicle parking in the only place that I could park my handicap vehicle but not first come first serve I park completely within the lines of a space. This is a family owned motel slowly and surely they remodel, yes it's old the carpet is beyond its life. There are no modern electrical outlets . What it is, is its clean Benny is very concerned with your comfort he tries very hard to accommodate your needs. I had plenty of hot water.if the ac fails let him know he replaces it. He had a lady from the church make the curtains. If you want high quality brand new go somewhere else.tv is flat screen.dog friendly. And I was warm enough in the winter. Occasionally the shower drains slow, again tell him and he will fix it.Bennys family lives here on site and he doesn't put up with any shenanigans. Yes you can grill and have your beer no you can get stupid fight or disturb other people. Yes there are a lot of construction workers here right now, and this is a return trip to this area for me and I still elected to stay here.Benny and his family are the reason. We needed a place to sleep since we were too tired to drive through the night. We arrived at the motel around 11pm. The night clerk (owner) was very helpful and friendly! The outside was very deceiving. The room we had was laid out weird but it was very spacious. I think the building we were in used to be offices at some point. The room we had looked dated but was very comfortable. The bed was firm and the pillows didn't sink in when you slept on them. Our room had a fridge and nice TV. The bed we slept in was full sized which we haven't slept on in years. It brought back some memories from our earlier years together. We took a chance on this motel and was very pleased. I would definitely come back again if we're in the area! My only complaint would be that the ice machine was broken, but there's a gas station on the corner so it...
