Super 8 by Wyndham Independence — Hotel in Independence

This has got to be the nicest, cleanest, most well-taken care of and updated Super 8 I’ve ever seen in my life! The room was practically brand new- with beautiful furnishings and appealing colors. It was practically spotless! Certainly quiet and extremely comfortable. The young lady working guest services (front desk) was so polite, cheerful, accommodating and genuinely sincere about her job. I was so impressed with this hotel. The ONLY thing I noticed that was out of the ordinary was something (possibly tissue paper) stuffed in the smoke detector- but even I only noticed it when I lied down in bed. Not sure why it’s there- the room didn’t smell like cigarette smoke if that’s what someone was trying to hide. Other Super 8 owners/managers should come take a tour and take some notes. Great place! Very rude staff. Came in from out of state at 1AM for a funeral the next day Not only did they charge us more than our reservation was for. But the employee at the desk was very rude and told my wife that she didn't want to eat the complimentary breakfast because it's not worth the time. Our room was on the opposite end of the building and was told that we could use the far door. It's locked after 11PM and we couldn't find anywhere to put the key. Found someone else's sock in our room. The tv has seven white lights on the TV never went out until we turned the TV off. Very dusty ceiling just all around disappointed in our stay. Located on the west end of town with easy access to and from the interstate. There are no bad places to stay in this town so safety is not an issue. The room was clean, the water hot, beds were comfortable, microwave fridge, and the a/c ran great. A little short staffed, but if you pick up the desk phone someone comes out. Our first morning there was hot coffee ready in the entry way. The next morning the coffee was tepid; we did have the option to make coffee in our room though.
