I was Traveling w/ my 88yr old disabled grandma and my 64yr old mom and our 3 small dogs while visiting family in the area. We needed something that could accommodate a wheelchair and other necessary needs for them. I've stayed at super 8 motels traveling before and haven't ever really had an issues but this one was really great! They offered a roll bed for me so I didn't have to share with one of them but I brought my queen size air bed and I had space in the room to inflate it so I didn't use the roll bed. My mom and grandma were cold in there with the ac on while I was burning up and they gladly gave us extra blankets, pillows, sheets and towels. The shower was clean w/ good pressure, the room was clean, breakfast was good. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful including the owner! After they got their extra blankets they both slept great all night! I was concerned about this bc my grandma lives in a nursing home and sleeps on a hospital bed so I was concerned about that but she said she slept great. We were satisfied with everything about this super 8 and will stay there again the next time we are up there. To my knowledge the indoor pool and hot tub were working and open as well as fitness room and guest laundry. We didn't use any of those amenities but I believe they were there for those who might or have kids! Also it is right off of hwy 169 and next to Pete's...
Read moreI don't even want to give this place one star but I have to just to leave this review. We arrived for our reservation that I made on-line 2 days prior... I was told that our reservation was canceled and they did not have a room for us. I said that I did not cancel and I provided my confirmation for our reservation. He said he sees it but it was canceled. ...so no room. I said well you better not charge my card for the room. He said he wouldn't...then he proceeds to "cancel" my reservation that he already told me was canceled. How can you cancel a reservation that was, as he claimed, already canceled!?!? Nothing made sense. I think they had just gave our room to someone else. If you have plans to stay here...be sure to have a plan B . I am actually grateful that we had to move on down the road because it gave us the opportunity to stay at a much better place with an awesome delicious breakfast... just 40 more minutes down the road. So in a whole new perspective of things....THANK YOU SO MUCH, SUPER 8, FOR OUR STAY AT SLEEP INN AND SUITES IN FORT SCOTT. IOLA, I WOULD BE ASHAMED. BTW... my dollars went to shops in Fort Scott....
Read moreWe have stayed at this hotel off and on for 2 years due to my husbands family living here and we live out of state.
The quality of the hotel has continued to go down, with zero to no help from the front desk staff. The last two visits our rooms have been dirty... One the window was open, a fan was in the room, the sheets were dirty and we were advised there were no other rooms.
The most recent stay had someone else's soap at the top of the shower, dirty razor in the tub, corona beer bottle caps all over the room, the 2nd bed had a dried gray/white substance we can only use our imagination on. The floors were stained and sticky.
When I went downstairs to talk to the front desk (parking lot was fairly empty) no other rooms were offered. I was informed their housekeeper was not feeling well and had to go home early. The room smelled of mold which I am highly allergic too. Guess what? Next day I woke up with a sore throat and now I am battling a sinus issue.
I feel their is no accountability and I do not recommend staying here. We will drive to Garnett or Chanute next time and stay at the Holiday Inn or...
