The overnight staff was great and very friendly. My husband works on the road a lot and the kids and I often travel to stay overnight with him. One of the main things we look for in a hotel is kid friendly with activities and also rooms that allow us to have plenty of room. Last minute, we were able to get a two room suite and even though hours for "kid-swim" were over and it was technically adult swim, the staff could tell that the kiddos were really looking forward to the pool, especially our three yr old. There wasn't anyone at the pool, it was a week night, so she told us that we could take the kids swimming for as long as we wanted. We had the entire pool room to ourselves as a family, which was amazing. We've been working with our little guy on his confidence in the water and learning to swim, but it's usually very crowded and loud in public pools, so it hasn't been easy. This gave us the perfect opportunity; by the end of the evening, he was exploring the entire pool, both with his float and even without. It was great because these are the little things that we sometimes miss getting to experience with the entire family because of work. I don't know who was more proud; dad, big sis, me, or the little guy.
We were all pretty worn out when we made it back to the room, and the overnight staff made sure we had plenty of blankets and pillows to keep the kiddos comfortable on the pull-out sofabed.
We had an early start the next morning to take my husband to work, so the big complimentary breakfast was definitely enjoyed by him and our daughter. After dropping him off, the check-in desk told me that they were having work done on a lot of the rooms (the locks were being upgraded) and they didn't have any guest booked for the suites until late afternoon. Even though check-out was at 11am, she knew the kids and I had a long drive ahead, so she said to go ahead and let the kiddos go back to sleep and let us enjoy an undisturbed late check-out. We left around 1:00, well rested and happy.
We typically try to restrict our stays to "budget" rooms, provided they are clean and kid-friendly. The last minute timing and lack of available hotels with a swimming pool had us looking at slightly more expensive accommodations. The truth is though, after discounts, friendly staff, and learning of the HHONORS, the rooms offered by the Hilton line of hotels is the same, if not cheaper than "budget" hotels and the staying experience is much better. We will definitely be looking for a hotel from the HHONORS first...
Read moreAll I can say is, "WOW"! When we arrived at AmericInn I wasn't really expecting too much considering it was in a super small town off the 90. HOWEVER, I was gratefully mistaken. When we first drove up we could tell it was a well manicured establishment, and the management took great pride in the property. After we stretched our weary legs from an 8 hour drive, we collected our bags, walked inside, observed the welcoming lobby, and rang the bell. We were greeted by the sweetest front desk woman who wore a smile on her face and very pleasant to speak with! She got us checked in and even suggested a few places for us to eat, and we were on our way to our room! When we walked into our room we were blown away by the super cleanliness of it. The bed had crisp sheets, the towels were fresh, the bathroom was spotless, and the spa tub was clean (beckoning us to fill it up and slide in so we could loosen up our stiff legs and back muscles). The room itself was very inviting. As most of you know from my past reviews, I am a stickler for clean carpets and refuse to walk on them without slippers... this room had carpets that were well-kept, clean, vacuumed and pristine... first time in YEARS I was walked barefoot on hotel carpet! SO, to the hotel management, I would like to thank you for making this Californian feel welcomed and at home! If we ever do this cross country drive again, we will definitely be making another stop here. side note: pool is closed... big deal... we are living in a pandemic and it's completely...
Read moreThis is by FAR the best Wyndham hotel I’ve stayed at. My fiancé and I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast; we got stuck in a bad storm in Chicago holding us up for a couple days, so we ended up being in Minnesota for 4th of July. It was the best 4th of July I’ve ever had! The staff is fabulous and treats you like family. The rooms are absolutely immaculate! There was a jacuzzi in our room, and usually you couldn’t pay me to get in one at a hotel, but this jacuzzi looked like no one had even been in it. The room was so spacious, and as soon as you walk in you can see the beautiful wood work, perfect for a lodge. I’ve had a lot of problems with Wyndham, and we were too tired to keep driving. As soon as you walk through the door there is such a welcoming feeling. We ended up extending our stay there bc we were so happy with the peaceful hotel. The breakfast is nice, basic continental breakfast; the pool is perfect temperature and so it the hot tub. If it was closer to Washington, I would go there every other month just for a little getaway. I’m so picky about cleanliness and I couldn’t find one speck of dust in the room. Let me also mention that it is very reasonably priced, and extremely peaceful. It is only 30 minutes from Spirit lake, a great attraction. The people that run the hotel are so courteous, and appreciative. I never thought in a million years I would find such a sweet gem In Minnesota. Thank you to the staff for giving me a Fourth of July that I’ll...
