This is a beautiful property with a lot of potential. The grounds are stunning, the food was excellent, and the staff we interacted with were consistently friendly and helpful, but there are a lot of kinks to iron out.
The overall experience often felt disjointed because of poor communication and coordination. Thereâs no central desk, so concierge staff can be hard to find. Most requests go through a text concierge line, but it was often unclear whether messages ever reached the onsite team. We were frequently left waiting or unsure if anything was being handled. Requests made in person sometimes happened, other times did not.
A few small examples but they added up and made the experience feel sloppy. We asked for the valet to bring the car around, got confirmation via text, but nothing happened. The valet staff on site had not been told. After that, we just walked to the lot ourselves. The attendants were always fast, helpful, and offered cold water, which was a great touch. We requested a steamer that never came. We asked for bags to be carried out and received no acknowledgment. Someone arrived after 15 minutes (a reasonable timeframe), but we had no idea if anyone was coming. A âgentle reminderâ to check out was sent even after we had already confirmed by text.
Bigger issues cropped up as well. Scheduling spa treatments required long back-and-forth with a third-party provider, something the concierge should have coordinated. On our last night, we requested a taxi to the airport and were told it would be arranged with confirmation to follow. We never got confirmation, so we booked an Uber. The next morning, both the Uber and the hotelâs unconfirmed driver showed up at the same time. The staff and driver were apologetic, but the lack of follow-up left us in an awkward spot.
There is one restaurant with no rotating menu, every dish we tried was excellent. The outdoor areas and views are incredible. We enjoyed spending time by the firepits and views every evening. Even near capacity, we rarely saw anyone using the outdoor common areas in the evenings. The same 20â30 song playlist played on repeat for days until we asked for it to be changed. Perhaps this is by design, but it did not seem like other guests made use of the common areas.
Overall, the restaurant, valet, and attendants were excellent, but poor organization, especially between the concierge text line and onsite staff, led to repeated miscommunications and confusion. The staff themselves were consistently outstanding. The shortcomings were in coordination and communication, which kept the property from delivering the seamless experience expected of a...
Read more(Updated 1/26): What hunter is saying below is not true. Iâm sorry I had to write this review guys. But please donât bully me into taking it down. Just let it go. Please donât lie and be dishonest.
This is an edit of an original post. It's actually tough to give an overly negative review because it's just a situation that has not "felt" great as a consumer. So this may only apply to you if you are planning something and some life event gets in the way....My wife and I were really excited about a trip to the hotel. I have cancer and am a heart attack survivor and we have two kids. It's hard to get away. Four days before the trip at my Mayo Clinic check up I learned I needed to come back twice over the next week for more testing. Meaning we couldn't go to Jackson hole. This was not great for us or the hotel of course. I wrote to them and spoke with them and quite honestly expected them to refund the trip. Most luxury type hotels do this. It was a serious medical event and we had no choice. I communicated this to the staff at Hotel Yellowstone and the decision has been to not refund the $4,000 we prepaid. They originally did not offer even us rescheduling. I then posted a Google review and only then did they offer us to reschedule, but told me I needed to delete my original Google review + reschedule with 10 days or I'd lose everything. I explained the difficulty of us every coming back with 2 kids and it being an adults only hotel. I asked if I could give it to my mom or friends and they said it was not transferable. They are a business yes, the place seems amazing and I wish we could have gone. I wish the management could have been a bit more understanding of the situation and been more helpful in providing a solution. I'm sure they will respond to this with something and we'll see where it goes.
(one last comment - which is interesting) - the post that the management left below spoke of it being dissapointing that I didn't answer their phone calls. I was in 8 hours of medical tests in back to back days. Apologies that I...
Read moreIâm honestly not sure where to begin with this piece of heaven. We spent an AMAZING 5 nights in the Grand Teton Suite - the views are absolutely incredible. The decor in the rooms and throughout the property is gorgeous and every single space is comfortable. The deep soaking tub (with complimentary bath salts of the highest quality) is not to be missed. Thereâs a Japanese toilet - heated with bidetâŚwhat the what?!?! Everything was digitally controlled but also had manual controls - can communicate when you need the room serviced or amenities delivered right through the iPad. Housekeeping was spectacular - with daily service and nightly turndown - I canât say enough good things about that team (thanks Nikki!!!). The complimentary minibar was so convenient and well-stocked with snacks and a variety of waters and other drinks. The spa treatments are fantastic - as is the spa lounge with a variety of teas to enjoy while enjoying the incredible views. And the pool - there are no words to describe the infinity pool with - again - incredible views. The sauna (views!!!!) and cold plunge shower amenities were perfect. And the food - oh the food!!! I gained 5 pounds at least - thereâs tons of healthy options, but I couldnât resist the French toast and freshly made bread. Iâm celiac but they accommodated with gluten free bread the likes of which I havenât had in the US. The wines by the glass are varied and delicious. The afternoon treats (again they made gluten free cakes just for me!!!) and complimentary wine and charcuterie were so appreciated.Last, but absolutely not least, the service is remarkable. Every single encounter with the team here was delightful. Since everyone was so amazing - I wonât mention names because I may miss someone who deserves a shoutout. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Yellowstone - you made this week the best vacation Iâve ever taken. We canât wait to return to this luxurious but supremely comfortable place that...
