HONEYMOON stay @ Condo unit 8 at the Newport (Jamestown) Overlook (of trees), Club Wyndham | I would like to start by saying, this review is not directed at the employees, but rather the individual who manages this location and thinks ALL the rooms are deserving of being worthy of resort/club quality. Condo unit #8, is most definitely not. Further clarification, we were under the impression BY a private PAID for club, that this location was a romantic stay with view of the bay from our room, access to available hot tub, working washer and dryer, working WiFi and internet, ADVERTISED in the brochure $1000 a night, quality resort. I've personally stayed at Super 8's that were more luxurious than this. | We were on our honeymoon and even mentioned that to reception upon our arrival, they congratulated us and gave us the key to where we regretfully stayed in for the 1st half of our journey. The town is amazing, people are super friendly, food is utterly delicious, vibrantly historic, plenty to do and see/experience...|except for this particular unit.| Condo #8 - Spacious 2 floor unit with a grill patio (grill not tested), semi open loft design that had.. inner window to living room... working dishwasher, working fridge that sounded like the Indy 500, a TV that was not connected, a functional tub/shower that literally sounded like it was ready to be part of the kitchen below, a working top load washing machine pared with a redneck rigged dryer that had a (in pic) custom design knob with a switch held in place by zip ties and fancy written in sharpie on/off locations, which doesn't matter cause, surprise, didn't work. A WiFi single that's about as strong as the structural integrity of Talc, that kept logging you on then kicking you off. A NON-Private hot tub that was empty cause they (were told this) only turned on during summer.... not fall. The non-heated pool was filled though and party lights on for the balmy 50 degree October evenings in Newport RI... fun|Had maintenance try to fix TV, they could not|Wanted to wash our laundry for the next part of our journey, kinda did but not really. Read moreWe very much enjoyed our week At Newport Overlook. We had booked last Christmas week, and received a lovely unit overlooking the water and bridge. Our second visit was over Easter week. I was initially disappointed when we received another unit with no water view, but I actually really liked the unit we were in (unit 1). It was really nice and spacious. No upper deck, but a nice patio off the living room that looked out on a nice lawn and woods. You could walk down the lawn or driveway to see the water and the bridge. The unit was open and spacious with lots of light. The living room furniture was a bit dated, but in excellent condition and very comfortable. The sleep sofa was also very comfortable||First floor bedroom was very large with two twin beds, bureau, and two double closets. Bathroom was nice and had cabinet with shelves on top and three drawers on bottom. Also double closets when you enter unit. So lots of storage space. There was also full size washer dryer. ||The kitchen, though small was workable, and I pulled off Easter dinner for six with no problems. There are not a lot of pots or pans, but I knew that before going so I brought a couple of my own and that wasn't a big deal for me. I did find the stove and dishwasher very much in need of replacement, but we made it work.||Upstairs is a master loft, i think you would call it. Again large and spacious with King size bed, bureau, comfortable chair with lamp and double closets. Bathroom was nice||We had a couple of problems when first there, but a text to Bri brought a rapid response from Michael in maintenance and both times Michael got everything working. Thank you both!!!Everyone at the front desk was wonderful. We saw someone different each time we popped in. Everyone made us feel very welcome!||I found the unit in overall excellent condition and very clean. Sheets were very nice and we had ample towels. The area was very quiet and at the end of a beautiful residential road.||Walking to the small downtown area is a nice walk. We had dinner at Jb’s on the water and The Beech restaurants. Both were wonderful. There is a small grocery store and liquor store on the island. A gas station, and should you need one, a hardware store. If you enjoy walking, there are some very beautiful streets to enjoy. I was able to walk 4 miles a day going in different directions.||We drove a short ride to Point Judith, Westerly, Watch Hill, and Narragansett. Went over the bridge for the short ride to Newport where we went to the mansions and strolled the cliff walk. Had dinner at Tickets which i highly recommend.||We had such a nice time, I hated to leave at the end of the week. I just loved Jamestown and look forward to going there again . Thank you to all the staff, especially Bri and Michael. We really...
