All we could say was WOW!!! GORGEOUS!!! We stayed overnight for a wedding! Congratulations Kendra & Dean!! The treehouse we stayed in (El Castillo) was stunning and so comfy cozy and romantic! Easy to find and navigate around. Comfortable bed in the loft! The addition of the couch and Murphy bed gave other sleeping options of bringing kids or staying with other adults. We did not have our children with us so we only slept on the bed upstairs in the loft. If you have trouble getting around and climbing steps this may not be the best option for you as there are stairs everywhere including a gorgeous spiral staircase with hand cut a finished vines for railings! It was too perfect for words. The bathroom is nice and the water hot! Great water pressure! Comfy towels! The only downside is there isn’t great cell or net service at the lower treehouses, with our kids being home we needed to be able to get in touch incase of emergencies. Was able to get a couple messages out to check in, on the top balcony. At the venue the cell service worked great and we were able to FaceTime with our children. Maybe adding a range finder or Wi-Fi to the lower treehouses wouldn’t be a bad idea for those that need to be able to get in touch incase of emergency. All in all for the time we were in the treehouse, it was a great experience! The coffee was actually really good! Would love to know the brand they use! Loved having a throw blanket in the room to wrap around myself this morning on the porch while drinking my coffee! It was raining and the sound of the rain in the trees was magical with a nice cozy throw and hot cup of coffee! I felt truly at peace in that moment! The wedding we attended was nothing short of perfection!! The team at Mohican Treehohse resort did a fabulous job and no stone was left unturned, for the treehouses and the wedding! This isn’t a complaint but more like a suggestion. A wood burning fireplace or gas fireplace would be a great addition to the treehouses for cooler days and nights! It would add to the experience! Thank you for this place existing! It is a top attraction in the area! Would love to go when the leaves start changing in the fall and would love to stay the weekend and see more of the area!!! If you are unsure about booking, this should be a sign for you to go ahead and book! You will not be disappointed! Another thing I loved was the contactless everything! We wre rushed for time getting there before the wedding started so it was nice not having to check in to a front desk or having to do any of that. They sent us the code for the door so we went straight in! Great touch!! Ps: there’s a road closure sign as soon as you turn left from the one main road. The resort is before the road closure so no need to worry about it. We didnt have cell service there so couldn’t load a map. We asked one of the very nice homeowners there at the turn and they directed us on where to go!! Thank you to those...
Read moreI stayed in the Killbuck at the start of this April, and it was a pretty lackluster experience (not because it wasn't a tree house, we specifically chose this cabin for it's availability and amenities). I've been on plenty of cabin getaways before, so I knew what to expect and what to bring. We were really looking forward to our weekend getaway!
When we arrived at the Killbuck, we did the usual check of the fire extinguishers (2 of the 3 were empty and needed to be recharged), stove (when we pulled the oven door open, the whole front face of the door came off), other appliances (all clean), bathroom and bathroom amenities (the towel rack by the sink hadn't been tightened down and came off the wall whenever we tried to use the towel, so we just hung the towel on the sink; and the hair dryer kicked the breaker when it was used). The floor heating was very effective on the first floor, but the front bedroom leaked heat very badly and was very cold. Fortunately, we slept in the other bedroom.
The other thing we noticed right away is that all of the cabins and tree houses are built nearly on top of each other. We could see every one of our neighbors (at least 6 cabins) during our entire stay, and it really detracted from the "secluded, out in nature" atmosphere. It didn't help that during both nights of our stay, our neighbors ignored the 10pm noise curfew and yelled all the way into 3am both nights. Management suggests guests call to report noise complaints, but there is no cell service at all to be able to call maintenance at any time, so we just had to wait it out.
On our second day, I noticed there was a bag of dog poop next to our car that we hadn't seen the day before. We guessed it had been left by a previous guest and hadn't been picked up. We didn't really want to touch it, so we left it where we found it.
During our stay, we also noticed just how frequently management/ the cleaning crew patrol the property throughout the day. They're constantly making slow rounds of the property, and it was a little unnerving to be watched so thoroughly the whole time, especially since the entire first floor of the cabin doesn't have blinds to block out prying eyes. On our last day, management drove slowly by our cabin several times starting at 9am waiting to see if we'd left yet. Check out is (as clearly started in the cabin and on the booking page) promptly at 11am, so we really felt uncomfortable and rushed to leave.
We left feeling far less refreshed than we...
Read moreI’m going to be very honest because a grand is not cheap for 2 nights anywhere now days. Sorry seems long. This is for The “Old Pine”tree house that we stayed in March of 25. This is not my first stay in A tree house however not here. We go on get aways often. First of all there is nothing at all Lux about this treehouse. This is by far the worst beds one in loft also I have ever slept on even in A tent with air mattress was better. With A bad back this sucks! They are like cement, look smaller than A Queen, half the pillows are just as hard. Expecting nice 100% cotton quilts sheets no not getting that either so not lux bedding like says is.The lights which are nice on the outside railing shine in the window so it’s not dark either to sleep. The L shaped couch no it’s more like A hard bench with a worn out cushion. My 6ft hubby could barely squeeze on leaving me a hard rocker. We had to put the throws in front of the doors so the cold wouldn’t come in. It’s great that the guy from Tree House Masters made A couple, they are gorgeous no doubt! Has nothing to do with the comforts inside and maybe time to upgrade since it’s been built many years ago.I felt like more or less paid to sleep in A tree house not for comfort. The loft was like an oven with a fan that didn’t work. I’m thinking how cute little mugs you get to keep nope keep reading down billed $10 each if wish to keep. Um after paying $500 a night?”No Thank you. The dvd player kept getting the disc stuck, we came when chilly to cozy up indoors, I sew, maybe hike some.Too sore to so hubby went hiking .Any ways how is A plastic shower head resort like? After staying in A tree house for my second time this will be last trip to this one I don’t care who built it. The ones in Berlin have A fireplace and a hot tub and just as high up in the air with rustic updated lux charm for round same price. This is A very pretty area indeed! Would be scared to death to have one too many cocktails and drive these roads! They are narrow, winding, steep in some places, and just big enough to fit our truck no clue how a snow plow gets to some of them. If ya do toss a few cold ones down be safe! This was not what I pictured after reading the website or reviews. Disappointed for the price. This is just my...
