My husband's father just passed away and we needed to get away. He went to Santa's village as a child with his family. It was one of many places his father took them. So for sentimental reasons we came from CT to NH for the weekend only (unfortunately) and we had called the Evergreen motel on a Friday night and spoke to the owner. She answered so many questions and was very pleasant. We hadn't even booked or reserved a room over the phone. We waited till we drove up the next day to reserve the room. As soon as we entered the office we were greeted with attention and a smile. Sadly this is an attribute that many people lack today, but not the owners. As we chatted her husband joined in and had us smiling and laughing too. They speak to you like they already know you, like you are real people! My husband and I were tied from a long day of travel, going to Clark's Trading Post, and Santa's Village. She had informed us what our options for dining were, but when we got to the room she had a binder with local restaurant menus, additional information about the motel that all came in handy- even had a cable channel directory. This was very clever & convenient. The location was truly, right across the street (awesome) we had the end unit #19 and nobody on the other side of us. We liked that we had a quiet stay, but we we're not sure if being on the end was the reason for cooler shower water in the AM. We had HOT water the night before. It was a large, clean, yet simple room. We are not fancy people, so wet don't require the Hilton so this for us to a T. The only negative comments I could make was the bed was not comfortable for my husband- me I can sleep anywhere (for one night) I would recommend this motel to others, and I would return to this hotel. We didn't have an opportunity to use the pool, but the mini golf was fun. Be prepared to exceed par on hole 4 ( tee hee ) THANK YOU...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here for 3 nights recently. Very well kept motel/motor court. The owner/caretaker was very attentive, always going out of her way to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The rooms were meticuously clean (no dust on the baseboards or in the heater coils), the Mid-Century Modern style furniture was in great condition. and the details of each room gave the impression of good care. There were videos to borrow for kids if needed, and while we didn't use the pool because of the temperatures, it looked well maintained. Our only compliant about the room was the comfort of the beds, but given how personal people are about mattresses and pillows, that shouldn't discourage anyone from staying here.
The access to Santa's Village cannot be beat, and for a quiet, reasonably priced place to sleep at the end of a few days exploring northern New Hampshire, this place is womderful. The downside to the location is that it is far from anything else except Santa's Village, so be prepared to drive to see other area attractions and to find more varied dining choices.
Overall a fantastic place, and one of the best original style motel/motor court places I have stayed at in the White...
Read moreIf you are looking for an inexpesive decent place to stay, this is it. I've never been at a more clean, well maintained motel. Comes with pool, a basic continental breakfast, flat screen TV, free movie rentals and a fridge in the room.
The owners were great, a friendly couple with good information about the area. When I asked if there were cups in the room for wine, the owner ran upstairs and came back with a bottle opener and their own special Y2K glasses ...as long as I didn't break them!
While this is a five star motel, don't loose sight of the fact that it IS a motel. The beds were loud with the plastic matress covers creaking underneath. Also its right next to a busy road, frequented by loud trucks at night. So if you sleep lightly ...keep it in mind. Also, WIFI only works in rooms close to the entrance, in case that's important.
Overall, great value for the money and highly...
