My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend hiking getaway. We stayed in the Nellie Belle 1955 camper and loved it. Just enough room for two people, very clean, with a refrigerator, gas stove, and all of the supplies you need all ready for you. They've really thought of everything.
The campground is quiet and very peaceful. The bathhouse is immaculate and includes a FREE hot shower! The camp store doesn't have a lot of supplies, it's more of a quaint artisan shop with goods from local artists and a few very basic snacks and supplies. Campfire wood is available. Prices are very reasonable.
My one complaint is that the Nellie is advertised as having Internet, but the internet only really worked well for us on the first day. By 10pm it simply died. The rest of the weekend it came back but was very slow and spotty, it would intermittently just die. For most people staying here looking to get off the grid this probably wouldn't matter, but being an online writer and editor this was difficult. I managed to get 2 bars on my phone by placing it balanced on the windowsill and creating a Hotspot with my phone, but was very lucky to get any signal here.
I can't take away a star because of the internet because most people staying here are likely doing so to get away from technology for a while and find some peace and quiet. As far as that goes, this beautiful farm/campground absolutely fits the bill, and the owners and workers here are so friendly and nice that this place deserves nothing less than 5 stars. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful...
Read moreBlackberry Blossom is one of those places for which you have to give a 5-star review, but don't want other people to find out about so you can have it to yourself. We camped here with our dog from June 17-20 at the Mountain Laurel site, which is an uphill site (we loved it, but you may want to select a lower site if you have impaired mobility). Patrick met us upon arrival and hauled all of our camping gear up to the site for us. He showed us around the shop (well stocked with ice, snacks, local handmade goodies, firewood, and more) and pointed us to the bathhouse (VERY clean bathroom and separate shower with hot water and travel-size toiletries in case you forget your own) and dish-washing station (this was PERFECT--there are two large sinks, plenty of dish soap/scrubbers/sponges). The shop has a great covered front porch with rocking chairs and WiFi, so you can reconnect once in a while (if you want to, that is). The site itself was level and clean, and had a fire pit, grate, and picnic table. We had some rain during our stay, and Patrick took the time to add some mulch to the walking paths to make them less muddy. When it was time to depart, Patrick again met us at our site to haul our gear back to the parking lot (providing our dog with plenty of pets while we loaded up the wagon). He noticed one of our car tires was flat and brought out an air compressor to fill it before we left. These human touches are what makes this place so much more special than staying at a chain/park campground. We can't wait to come back. Thank you...
Read moreThis place is the perfect laidback, natural and family-oriented spot for a campground. It is owned by a family and has multiple campsites which you can pick from on their website—some are remote and some are for car-camping. We stayed in the “Greenbriar” site, which was absolutely lovely: a small clearing set back on the woodsy hill behind the pond, very private and blended in perfectly with the surrounding environment. BB also has a very nice and well-maintained wash house and dishwashing station, a garden/food forest, and a cute porch to hang out, with a cabin inside offering camping supplies and more. There are hiking trails uphill if you look for them, apparently. The owners have clearly put so much care and hard work into this campground’s maintenance, and it really makes the experience of the stay lovely, whether it’s for a night or a week. This is a special place.
As mentioned above, Blackberry Blossom has a pond that kids LOVE (but please if I could kindly encourage anyone reading this to tell your kids to not hunt every the tadpoles out of the water, taking them out of the water for any extended period of time...
